[MythicalBeastCafeteria] Chapter 27.2 — Rich Lady, I’m Hungry

Big Fish didn’t know why Qing Niao had come to the Eighth Cafeteria. He assumed that, like himself, he had been captured by humans and was forced to work here.

Big Fish spun a devilish tale, meticulously describing a bright future. He expected Qing Niao to look on with anticipation and immediately agree.

However, to his surprise, Qing Niao looked completely bewildered after hearing his words. “Why do we need to defeat the boss?”

Upon hearing this, Big Fish gritted his teeth and said, “Us supernatural beasts are free-spirted by nature. It’s impossible for us to work, we will never work in our lives. The boss exploits us and makes us work every day, isn’t that bad? I think you don’t want to deliver food at all, you just agree to follow the boss because you’re being forced by life!”

After hearing his words, Qing Niao shook his head and said honestly, “But I like delivering food.”

Big Fish: “???”

“I’ve been delivering mail for ten thousand years; it’s an instinct ingrained in my bones. If it weren’t for the need to support my clan, I could deliver mail for free,” Qing Niao said sincerely.

“The boss not only gives me meaning in life but also pays me a salary, more than others have ever paid me. If I rise up and defeat her, where else in the world can I find such a good boss?”

Big Fish: “…”

This was crazy, absolutely crazy.

… …

The shaved ice at the Eighth Cafeteria went viral, and many students who were previously afraid to go near the Cafeteria overcame their fears to buy the Mount Everest-themed shaved ice.

After Luo Huai’an finished cooking the dishes for the cafeteria, she grabbed Big Fish, who was sweeping the floor, and asked him to make shaved ice.

She glanced at Big Fish and, for some reason, she felt that he seemed somewhat lost and disoriented, as if his worldview had been completely shattered.

Big Fish muttered to himself, “They’ve gone mad, they’ve all gone mad.”

Why would there be a supernatural beast in this world as dedicated to its work as Qing Niao? It’s so terrifying.

Luo Huai’an: “…” This fish is sick again.

Shu Wenwen was a freshman in the School of Mathematics. When the big, crispy chicken leg rice meal was first launched, she and her roommate Wei Ziwei were in class and hadn’t been able to place their orders.

Shu Wenwen saw her phone light up; she opened it and was pleasantly surprised to find that, after a long wait, the app has finally listed products again.

Shu Wenwen quickly patted her roommate Wei Ziwei’s arm and whispered, “We didn’t manage to get any food yesterday, so we have to succeed today. Quick, grab some chicken legs!”

Wei Ziwei didn’t understand what she meant by ‘chicken leg’ and looked puzzled. Seeing that her roommate didn’t react, and because she was afraid of missing out on the crispy chicken leg rice meal again, Shu Wenwen hurriedly patted Wei Ziwei’s arm. “Hurry up and buy a big chicken leg!”

These two girls were actually diligent students and sat in the front row as usual. Professor Zhou, who taught this class, was known for his strictness and did not allow students to use their phones during class.

Professor Zhou frowned more and more as he heard the constant chanting of ‘chicken leg, chicken leg’ in his ears. After a long while, he finally said, “Shu Wenwen, what are you doing? It’s not lunchtime yet, and there are still five minutes before class ends. Pay attention!”

Shu Wenwen was scolded by Professor Zhou, but she still couldn’t stop thinking about her crispy chicken leg rice meal. Finally, after the page showed that the purchase was successful, she relaxed, put down her phone, and sincerely apologized to Professor Zhou, “I’m sorry, Professor Zhou.”

Seeing that she was remorseful, Professor Zhou relaxed his furrowed brow and said, “Don’t play on your phone next time. Pay attention in my class.”

Professor Zhou continued reading the PowerPoint presentation on the blackboard, but just then, a fresh murmur of ‘chicken leg, chicken leg, big chicken leg!’ came from below.

Professor Zhou’s brows furrowed so deeply that he could no longer read the PowerPoint presentation. He turned to look at the students below the podium.

He was surprised to find many people whispering, looking down at their phones, their eyes filled with longing, as if they were glowing with greed.

Professor Zhou was speechless and slammed his hand on the lectern, “Stop playing around! Everyone, pay attention in class.”

Professor Zhou was extremely helpless. This class has always had the best atmosphere and the most attentive students. Even when it was nearing mealtime, they would not take out their phones to check the time.

But what’s going on today? Why is everyone talking about big chicken legs?

Seeing that Professor Zhou was unhappy, the students hurriedly placed their orders, but they were too late; all one hundred large chicken legs were already sold out.

When the class monitor saw the ‘out of stock’ notification on the screen, his vision went black, and he angrily shrieked in his mind, ‘My big chicken leg is gone!!

However, he soon realized that he had actually blurted out his true feelings. The entire class fell silent, and everyone stared at him in shock; even Professor Zhou gave him a death stare.

Class monitor: “…”

I wonder if it’s too late to settle on Mars now?

… …

After reprimanding the students, Professor Zhou quickly left the classroom with his books and returned to his office.

Professor Zhou was furious. After returning to the classroom, he complained to his colleagues in the mathematics department. “These students nowadays are really too much. They order takeout during class and don’t pay attention in my lectures. How are they going to pass the exams? Don’t come begging me if you fail!

“What’s so good about the chicken leg rice sold in the Eighth Cafeteria? Do you think I don’t know the school cafeterias? They’re all terribly bad, but now they’re even offering takeout?”

Professor Zhou talked on and on for a while, but he noticed that his colleague at the next table didn’t respond.

Professor Zhou looked up and saw a crispy chicken leg rice meal in front of Professor Wang on the next table. He couldn’t take his eyes off it.

It was a big chicken leg, looking so good it made one gasp.

The big chicken leg lived up to its name; it’s bigger than the palm of one’s hand, resembling a dagger. Its color was a deep reddish-brown, glistening with oil; just looking at it, one could imagine the skin’s rich, juicy but crispy texture.

Professor Wang took a bite of the large chicken leg in his hand and couldn’t help but widen his eyes.

This single bite into the piping hot chicken leg was both crisp and smooth, with juices bursting out, while a rich, savory meat flavor lingered on the tongue as he chewed.

This method of eating directly with one’s hands was full of primitive, rustic charm. Professor Wang didn’t care about his image and directly tore off pieces of meat from the chicken leg, swallowing the crispy outside and tender inside chicken along with its aroma.

Professor Wang felt an indescribable joy and satisfaction, and all the fatigue of the day vanished instantly.

When there was no meat left on the chicken leg, only a bare skeleton, Professor Wang finally stopped, still feeling unsatisfied. He looked longingly at the bone and muttered to himself, “Such delicious food, gone so quickly?”

If there weren’t other people around, Professor Wang would have even imagined gnawing on the chicken leg bones as he does at home. However, since his colleagues were around, he had to give up on the idea.

Professor Wang turned to look at the dumbfounded Professor Zhou, clicked his tongue, and said with lingering interest, “Old Zhou, I didn’t hear what you just said. Say it again.”

Professor Zhou: “…”

Professor Zhou repeated what he had said helplessly, and then said, “Another student shouted right in the middle of class that his big chicken leg has flown away, which is simply outrageous. How could that haunted Eighth Cafeteria possibly make delicious crispy chicken leg with rice? They must be trying to fool me.

“By the way, where did you buy your crispy chicken leg with rice? It smells delicious.”

Professor Wang was somewhat bewildered upon hearing this. After a long while, he finally spoke, “Yesterday at noon, I saw the students eating crispy chicken leg rice with great relish, so I asked them about it. They said they bought it from the Eighth Cafeteria, so I ordered some today. It is indeed delicious. I have never eaten such a delicious crispy chicken leg before.”

Professor Zhou: “…”
