[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 57.2 — Couple’s Watches

Qin Moling and Jian Hang had already sat back down at the conference table, and Zhong Yanyue exited the chat window, placing her phone on the table.

She glanced at Jian Hang and saw the stack of documents in her hand. She pressed her temples, her head feeling like it was about to explode.

Qin Moling’s left jaw had been pinched by Jian Hang, and he was unsure whether the nail mark was still noticeable. He held his hand there, and no one seemed to noticed.

Only Secretary Gao noticed that the boss bore marks from Jian Hang; there must have been a heated argument.

Qin Moling announced, “The meeting continues.”

Vice President Wu coughed lightly twice, unsure of where to continue.

He’d been in the fast-moving consumer goods industry for over twenty years, and Jian Hang’s actions were something he’d never heard of before. During the twenty-minute break, he smoked three cigarettes to calm his nerves.

The last time he smoked consecutively was a few months ago, when Qin Moling fired Yu Ming and two other senior executives.

At the time, no one on the Board of Directors of Lemeng agreed, and they all advised Qin Moling to proceed cautiously, as mishandling this matter could cause stock price fluctuations.

But Qin Moling wouldn’t listen and insisted on his own way, dismissing all three of them at the same time.

From this perspective, Qin Moling and Jian Hang are really well-suited to be a couple.

“Vice President Wu, our Second Division is hiring recently, and we’ve already applied to President Qin for office space. I’m wondering how the company plans to address this.” Zhong Yanyue broke the silence in the meeting room.

Vice President Wu nodded, “We’re giving the entire sixteenth floor to your Second Division.”

Zhong Yanyue was slightly taken aback. The entire sixteenth floor?

This was something their Second Division never even dared to dream of. They thought they would get a third of the office space on the fifteenth floor, but instead, they were given an entire floor on the sixteenth floor.

It was only then that Vice President Wu realized why Qin Moling had given the entire sixteenth floor to the Second Division: because once Jian Hang closed the distributors’ accounts, Zhong Yanyue, in order to appease those same distributors, would definitely have to compensate them.

The Second Division would naturally be resentful of giving them several million more, so Qin Moling provided them with office space as a form of compensation.

The entire sixteenth floor would exceed the Second Division’s current office needs. Vice President Wu explained, “Given the momentum of the Second Division, we may need to hire more people next year, so we’re reserving the office space for now.”

Zhong Yanyue smiled slightly, “Thank you for your thoughtful consideration, Vice President Wu. This recruitment drive in the Second Division mainly aims to hire internally, which can avoid layoffs. No matter the reason for layoffs, or which Division is affected, if word gets out, people will think that Lemeng is failing. That would be bad for the company.”

Vice President Wu originally meant the same thing, and now that Zhong Yanyue has brought it up herself, that’s a perfect way to segue into the topic.

He said to Jian Hang, “When it’s time to lay off staff, Ms. Jian, have Liao Yongmei liaise with the HR director in charge of the Second Division. The staff to be laid off from Fourth Division can be transferred to the Second Division to avoid large-scale layoffs.”

The other two Division General Managers looked up, first at Zhong Yanyue, then at Jian Hang.

Given the situation in the Fourth Division, they wouldn’t last until the end of the year and would have to lay off staff. Zhong Yanyue had just generously offered that the laid-off employees could go to the Second Division, and the Second Division would take them all.

At this point, Jian Hang had just been humiliated.

Jian Hang put the documents away in her file bag; they wouldn’t be needed for this meeting. She smiled faintly, “Thank you for your concern, Vice President Wu. I only plan to adjust positions and reorganize the team, but I don’t intend to lay off anyone. By the way, the Fourth Division is preparing to recruit more.”

Vice President Wu: “…”

Zhong Yanyue and the other Division General Managers were also speechless.

The Fourth Division has suffered losses for two consecutive years, and the market was shrinking, yet she still wanted to hire more people.

Vice President Wu rubbed his temples. He couldn’t talk to Jian Hang anymore today; Jian Hang would drive him crazy.

After resolving the issues for the First and Third Divisions , his heart rate finally returned to normal.

The meeting adjourned at 11:35.

Qin Moling remained seated, gesturing to the others, “You all go ahead and get back to work.”

Jian Hang knew that he was staying behind to wait for her because he had something to talk to her about.

The others left one after another.

Qin Moling said, “Apart from recruiting Lin Xiao, your Fourth Division is not short of people.”

Jian Hang put the laptop into her laptop bag and said, “We are lacking.”

Qin Moling seemed about to say something but hesitated and said, “Go and eat.”

Jian Hang asked him, “What about you?” She wanted to have lunch with him today.

“I’m eating with Vice President Wu.”

“Okay.”

Jian Hang carried her laptop bag and file bag together in one hand, and opened the work group chat with the other, replying to messages as she walked.

When the Fourth Division learned of Jian Hang’s on-site account closure in the conference room, they felt a mix of satisfaction and worry. Now, every distributor in Lemeng’s various regions, including those in other Divisions, knew that Jian Hang from the Fourth Division was a ruthless person. They wondered whether this incident would bring her widespread fame or infamy.

When it was time to eat, Zheng Yanshu didn’t go to the cafeteria; instead, he waited for Jian Hang to return to her office.

“Mr. Luo from Jiangcheng isn’t cooperating with the account cancellation process, saying he’s been busy lately and doesn’t have time.” Zheng Yanshu stood in front of Jian Hang’s desk, not wanting to sit down, intending to leave after finishing his sentence.

Jian Hang asserted, “Mr. Luo doesn’t want to cancel the account; he still wants to maintain being a distributor for the Fourth Division’s products.”

She considered it; she would give him a week. If he didn’t show sincerity, didn’t transfer the money to the account, and failed to complete the sales quota of the Fourth Division, she would take action to cancel his account.

A bet is a bet,’ Zheng Yanshu reminded himself again.

Even though he didn’t approve of her closing these accounts, he still reluctantly said, “Okay.”

“Ms. Jian.”

“Speak your mind.”

Zheng Yanshu still felt obligated to remind her, “The third quarter is the peak sales season.” June, which has just passed, and July and August, which were coming up, were the key months for completing the annual sales target.

If she kept messing with the distributors at this time, the sales volume of the Fourth Division this year would be unprecedentedly bad, and who knew how much the sales revenue would decline.

Jian Hang looked up. “And now we’re closing their accounts right when they’re making the most money. Do you think they’d be anxious or not?”

Zheng Yanshu: “…”

An idea popped into his head, and he asked directly, “You never intended to shut down the 421 distributors?”

“It’s not that I don’t plan to shut them down, it’s that they will try to avoid being shut down by me,” Jian Hang said. “If I were to do what you suggested and pick out a dozen or so companies and shut them down one by one, it wouldn’t have any deterrent effect.”

The decision to close 421 accounts at once would attract the attention of all distributors, especially since these distributors were the most powerful in all regions.

Then she directly closed the account of their leader, Mr. Zhao.

This showed them her determination and ruthlessness.

She analyzed, “In the past, they could earn several million yuan a year as distributors for our Fourth Division products. Now they’re gambling that my methods can turn the our Fourth Division products around in one or two years, and then they might make tens of millions of yuan a year. These people are shrewd. They’re unlikely to give up their distributor rights for the Fourth Division products; they’ll hold on to them tightly.”

The most likely outcome was that in a group of 421 people, only the leader’s account would actually be shut down.

Today, she closed Mr. Zhao’s account, and she was fairly satisfied with the result. The other matters were things she could delegate to Zheng Yanshu. “I don’t expect them to complete the Fourth Division’s sales quota for this year. The product itself has problems, and I won’t force them. I plan to launch a new product next year.”

Zheng Yanshu looked at her.

Jian Hang said, “Have them transfer next year’s payment to their accounts. I originally said transfer six months’ worth of payment, but this is a pipe dream. I know that myself, but we had to set such high terms to give the distributors room to negotiate. You can lower it to three months or two months, it’s up to you to decide as the Sales Director. You decide the degree.”

At that moment, Zheng Yanshu suddenly understood Jian Hang’s intention. “Leave the rest to me.”
