According to legend, the Queen Mother of the West was accompanied by three blue birds: two of them served as attendants, and the other was a messenger for her. Over time, the blue bird that delivered messages gradually became a symbol of the loyal messenger that conveyed thoughts and feelings of the sender.

“The journey to Penglai Mountain is not far, and the blue bird is eager to visit.” This phrase referred to Qing Niao, the messenger.
