[ILivestreamDivination] Chapter 90.3 — Biological Parents Come to Recognize Their Child

Many viewers were just as excited as the destined person, after all, almost everyone had at least one close friend or relative they would always remember.

[My father passed away very suddenly, and I’m still not in the process of accepting it. I don’t want to tell anyone that my father is dead, to let him die on a societal level. I really want to know if he’s doing well. If the streamer can make my father appear in my dreams, I’ll even steal electric scooter batteries to support you!1]

[When I was little, my grandpa told me that my great-grandfather had buried an antique in the vegetable garden in our old family home. I dug for a long time in the garden, but I couldn’t find it. Great-grandfather, please appear and tell your great-grandson where the treasure is hidden!]

[Upstairs, I suspect your grandpa just wants you to dig in the dirt; he’s just trying to fool the kid. There’s no treasure in there.]

While the destined person was happy, she was also a little sad. “Actually, the reason I am sad is not only because of my parents’ death, but also my biological parents.

“After my parents’ flight crashed, a couple came to our door and said that I was adopted by my parents from their home!

“My parents originally had two sons and wanted a daughter. Coincidentally, someone in our hometown had three daughters. They hit it off and my parents took the newborn daughter, who was me.

“Now, my biological parents have found me and say they want to acknowledge me.”

Viewers in the livestream: “???”

[Good heavens, the background of this person is so extraordinary! I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.]

[Sigh, this kind of situation used to be very common in rural areas. My aunt was like that. Her family favored sons over daughters and wanted to have a son, so they had one child after another. The government didn’t allow so many births, so they had children secretly, giving away the daughters they gave birth to to other families, until they finally had a son.]

[Sorry, I got a conspiracy theory. The adoptive parents are wealthy, and the birth parents came knocking on their door… it’s hard not to overthink it.]

[There’s no need to think so badly of them; maybe they just want to see their daughter.]

[I think the person upstairs is overestimating people. Someone who’s so sexist they’d give their daughter up for adoption—what else could it be besides money? Don’t be fooled into acknowledging them; they’ll likely make you a Voldemort2.]

[Plus one.]

[Plus 10086. You are luckier than many girls who are given away for adoption; you have met wonderful adoptive parents. Don’t fall into that trap again; your adoptive parents are still watching over you from heaven!]

“At first, I also had such concerns, thinking that they were only after my money. They came to my house every day to comfort me and tell me not to be sad anymore, but I was unmoved.”

She was still somewhat wary, worried that the other party was after her money, and that the timing of their visit to claim kinship was too coincidental, coming right after her parents’ death.

It was hard not to suspect that there was an ulterior motive.

The destined person caught a glimpse of these comments sighed deeply and retorted, “But my biological father does indeed have his reasons. Yesterday he told me that he has a serious illness.”

Just as she was about to say something, the doorbell rang suddenly.

She then took her phone, stood up, and walked to the front door.

This was a luxury apartment located in the city center. Her parents bought it for her after she started working. The decoration was exquisite, with attention to detail everywhere.

She glanced cautiously through the peephole and opened the door.

A middle-aged couple walked in. The man was wearing a loose, black, cotton-padded coat, which couldn’t hide his potbelly at all; he looked like he was seven or eight months pregnant.

As soon as he entered, he looked around, his eyes lingering on the expensive furniture, with a somewhat shifty look.

Only after his wife patted his arm did he turn his gaze to the destined person. “Xiao Ling, have you finished considering giving me money for medical treatment?”

As he spoke, he sat down on the leather sofa and remarked with emotion, “Wow, it’s so soft. Expensive things are really good. It’s completely different from the hard sofa at home. This kind of nice sofa will definitely be good for my cancer.”

Upon hearing his words, the destined person crossed her arms, looking somewhat resistant and conflicted. She walked to the table in the living room, not wanting to get close to the sofa. “You want 800,000, that’s too much. Can’t your son pay for some of it?”

The viewers in the livestream suddenly realized what was going on.

It turned out that the destined person’s father was ill and he had a cancer diagnosis!

Upon hearing this, Mr. Shen frowned, about to scold the other person, but then, as if remembering something, he suppressed his anger and tried to speak softly, “Xiao Ling, don’t be like this. Although your brother works for a big company, he doesn’t have any money. He also has a girlfriend who spends a lot of money and often asks him for money. He couldn’t save any money at all.”

“Really?”

“Would I lie to you? I’m your father!”

Upon hearing this, the destined person frowned. She had been unaware of her origins for nearly thirty years. Now, suddenly someone had jumped out, claiming to be her father. She felt neither a sense of reality nor any emotion for these persons.

But she was not cold-blooded. A colleague of hers had leukemia and she donated a lot of money. Now that her own biological father had cancer, she could not possibly stand idly by.

Why not donate some money to him like she would to a colleague?

She didn’t hide anything and honestly told her biological parents all the money she had. “100,000. That’s all I can give you. I don’t have that much money on hand. My brother opened a business before, and I gave him all my money to use.”

To her surprise, her biological parents both became angry.

Their eyes widened, and they immediately retorted, “100,000? Impossible!”

“I am your biological father, half of your blood is mine. I have cancer, and you only give me 100,000? You can’t even get through the formalities with this, it’s not even enough to fill a gap between your teeth.”

The destined person was somewhat bewildered, not expecting them to have such a large appetite. “How many more do you want?”

The biological father stomped his foot heavily, turned his back, and said loudly, “It will cost at least 800,000.”

The destined person: “???”

The destined person gaped in disbelief at the amount she heard. “I really don’t have that much money on me!”

“Then ask your brother for it.” Her birth mother’s eyes darted around, and she said decisively, “Both of your brothers, I think they both own companies.”

Viewers in the livestream: “???”

  1. ‘Even steal electric scooter batteries for you’ is a meme that arose from a guy arrested in 2012 for doing just that. He had an iconic look and gave a memorable laidback interview post-arrest that immediately catapulted him to enduring meme fame.

  2.  Okay, follow me down the rabbit hole. Ready?

Voldemort in Chinese is officially translated to  ‘伏地魔’, pronounced as ‘Foo Di Moo’—which is the closest Chinese sounds can get to ‘Voldemort’. The phrase literally means ‘devil lying low on the ground’ which is an amazing reference to snakes! 🐍

Voldemort (伏地魔) has now come to mean those players who lie in wait in the grass to ambush you or anyone who acts sneakily.

But then! Voldemort spelled as 扶弟魔 (same ‘foo di moo’ but different hanzi used) means ‘brother-supporting devil’. It’s used to describe a sister who selflessly and excessively sacrifices her own money, career, and life to financially support her younger brother due to traditional family pressures.

That’s what the comments are warning the pre-destined person: don’t acknowledge your bio parents or you’ll just end up as Voldemort (a brother-supporting devil). ↩︎
