<Strawberry Parfait> was very grateful to the other person for his great help in this matter, but he was extremely aloof and barely paid any attention to her, only responding with ‘uh-huhs’ when they spoke. They spent the entire day in the lab and he barely uttered a single word to her.
Her feelings were incredibly complicated, her mind now a complete mess, and she could only exclaim with deep emotion, “I understand.”
The person she liked didn’t like her, while the person she didn’t like liked her; fate was truly unpredictable.
Many viewers were very excited, encouraging the lucky pre-destined person to seize the opportunity and give it a shot.
<Strawberry Parfait> shook her head, looking uninterested and listless, “I have no feelings for him, at least not at this moment.”
She didn’t necessarily need to find a boyfriend; she wouldn’t date just for the sake of dating. She definitely had to find someone she liked.
<Strawberry Parfait> was incredibly conflicted, still unable to forget her class monitor. Mustering her courage, she asked, “Host, will he like me in the future? If I try my best, can I win him over?”
Meeting her expectant gaze, An Rugu shook her head decisively. “There’s no future for you two, he won’t like you.”
<Strawberry Parfait>: “???”
Hearing such harsh words, her heart sank, plunging into darkness, her eyes reddening slightly. “May I ask why?”
[The greatest pain in this world was probably loving someone you couldn’t have.]
[Sigh, love is all about fate. Trying too hard just makes you a simp. Don’t be a simp; someone like that, it’s almost like opening yourself to be betrayed.]
An Rugu said meaningfully, “Actually, your class monitor and your lab partner have known each other for a long time, did you know that?”
<Strawberry Parfait> paused for a moment. “Really? I never asked them about this.”
“They are from the same high school. The university you are attending has a guaranteed admission spot for that high school, which could only be claimed by the top student.
“Their results were always both very good, they have always been at the top of the list, and the first and second place were only between the two of them.”
An Rugu didn’t say much, but Strawberry Parfait already understood: “…So, my lab partner is the one who got the guaranteed admission spot.”
An Rugu nodded, “That’s right. Your class monitor harbored resentment. After guessing that he liked you, he wanted to be with you to make him suffer.
“Actually, your class monitor already has a girlfriend. She’s abroad right now, so not many people know that.”
“This……”
<Strawberry Parfait>’s face turned pale, her stomach churned, and she regretted speaking up for him before. “He has a girlfriend, yet he’s still flirting with me. Disgusting, so disgusting.”
“You can know a person’s face, but not their heart.” An Rugu repeated this sentence that she also said to the second pre-destined person.
<Strawberry Parfait> was so angry that her shoulders trembled. It took her a long time to calm down. She quickly thanked An Rugu, “Thank you, host. Otherwise, I would have become the other woman.”
She really liked the class monitor, and if he confessed his feelings to her, she wouldn’t have resisted.
“It’s nothing,” An Rugu said calmly.
<Strawberry Parfait> thanked her again profusely and left.
[Help! This guy is jealous of someone because he couldn’t surpass their exam results and couldn’t get into university through the guaranteed admission program. He’s so petty!]
[Not only is he petty, but he also resorts to underhanded tactics. Instead of defeating his opponent through academic achievements and research, he insists on focusing on romantic relationships—his thought process is truly bizarre.]
[That poor soul almost became a victim. And worse, almost became the other woman!]
[The streamer’s videos should be shown once a day; goodbye to puppy love.]
An Rugu did some quick calculations and concluded that <Strawberry Parfait>’s lab partner was the right person for her, a perfect match, completely different from this class monitor who was all show and no substance.
“That concludes today’s livestream. The next livestream will be in ten days.”
After hanging up the call, An Rugu casually browsed the trending topics, and many of the entries were related to her livestream.

The following day, Cloud Rise Temple was bustling with activity from early morning, and the increasingly cold weather did not dampen the enthusiasm of the pilgrims.
Many people know that the Celestial Lord of Destiny at Cloud Rise Temple was very efficacious, and that every time they lit incense for him, they felt a wonderful feeling of being refreshed and invigorated.
Some people, as soon as they came in, asked Shang Yue, “Where is the Thunder God in your Daoist temple?”
“We don’t have a Thunder God.”
“But last time you had that golden lightning, and the picture didn’t look photoshopped!”
Shang Yue knew how to explain this, having asked An Rugu before. She said, “We have a statue of the South Pole Immortal, also known as the Antarctic Immortal Emperor, here. You can worship this.
“He is the ancestor of thunder and lightning, the source of the Thunder God’s laws.
The Celestial Lord of Destiny was a subordinate of the Old Man of the Antarctic.
The first abbot of Cloud Rise Temple, the most devoted fan of the Celestial Lord of Destiny, would certainly not forget his superior.
The pilgrims were overjoyed to hear that the gods who controlled thunder were here, and they flocked to the statue of the Antarctic Immortal Emperor to worship.
….
At this moment, An Rugu received a call from the Special Cases Management Bureau.
“We’ve found the gu witch.”
“Where is she?”

T/N: In case you forgot, Celestial Lord Siming—the so-named Lord of Destiny here—is the particular deity enshrined in Cloud Rise Temple. He is said to be in charge of human fate and lifespan allocation.
Siming is the personification of one of the stars of the Southern Dipper Constellation (that’s why deities are called ‘Celestial Lords/Ladies’). And the Old Man of the South Pole (a.k.a Antarctic Immortal Emperor) is the personification of Canopus, the South Pole Star; he is a very high-ranking deity, associated with longevity, health, and old age.
We mentioned a few chapters back that the thunder god ‘Most Venerable Nine Heavens Responding to the Origin of Thunder and Universal Transformation’ is the incarnation of the Antarctic Immortal Emperor.
It’s complicated because their origins and attributes change over millenia of worship, and some deities get conflated together.
Basically, the thunder god is the incarnation of the Old Man of the South Pole, and the Old Man of the South Pole is the ‘boss’ of Celestial Lord Siming, who is the main deity of Cloud Rise temple. The original abbot also put up a statue of this ‘boss’, so Shang Yue is just telling pilgrims, ‘We don’t have a thunder god but you can just go visit Old Man of the South Pole’s statue over there instead, have a great day.’
