Qi Ze was quite surprised, and then took another delicate bite of the chicken leg, which further confirmed his guess.
Ji Wuchen quickly finished his big chicken leg, then ate the vegetables and rice. He couldn’t help but pat his stomach and let out a satisfied sigh, “This chicken leg rice meal is amazing. Not only is the chicken leg delicious, but even the vegetables are so sweet and refreshing. The rice is also incredibly fragrant, glistening and plump.
“It’s truly an excellent rice meal!”
“No wonder the university forum even has a section for the Eighth Cafeteria. Its reputation is well-deserved. If I had known that the chicken leg rice meal at the Eighth Cafeteria was so delicious, would I have needed to travel so far outside campus every day?”
After Qi Ze finished eating, the two of them prepared to leave.
Suddenly, Luo Huai’an called out to Qi Ze.
Ji Wuchen, who was left behind: “…”
This world that judged people by their looks was hopeless!
… . ..
Luo Huai’an led the bewildered Qi Ze into the kitchen and said happily, “You’re here just in time! Quickly use your true fire to help me roast all these chicken legs. That way, I can double my chicken leg rice meal sales today!”
Qi Ze: “?”
Qi Ze was incredibly surprised, feeling as if his deep secret had been exposed. He instinctively tried to cover himself up, asking, “What are you talking about? I don’t understand.”
Luo Huai’an assumed he didn’t know how to roast chicken legs, so she said, “Wrap these chicken legs in your true fire and roast them. The skin will become crispier. Don’t set the temperature too high, keep it around 300 degrees Celsius.”
Seeing that he didn’t move, Luo Huai’an put her hand on his shoulder and said anxiously, “Hurry up, Qing Niao will be back soon. If you finish roasting the chicken legs by then, we can make it in time for the next batch of deliveries.”
Luo Huai’an was 1.75 meters tall, and Qi Ze was 1.88 meters tall. Her gesture of putting her hand on his shoulder was incredibly familiar and effortless.
Qi Ze felt the warm touch on his shoulder, and his mind went completely blank. Under normal circumstances, he would never reveal his ability to control fire. But for some reason, now that he was facing her, the thought of refusing her didn’t even cross his mind, as if he had already agreed to her requests countless times.
Before he could think about it, leaping flames had already erupted from his hand.
He threw his true fire into the oven, and the flames, following his will, enveloped the big chicken legs. In no time, the chicken legs were roasted to an incredibly crispy and fragrant perfection.
Luo Huai’an was overjoyed to see that the chicken legs in the oven were perfectly cooked. The temperature in the hanging oven wasn’t always ideal, and it couldn’t precisely roast every inch of the chicken skin. Phoenix’s true fire, which could be controlled at will, was much more reliable.
Seeing that it was done, she told him to stop, “That’s enough, you can stop now.”
After seeing Qi Ze call up fire, Second Fish was too scared to come over.
Second Fish was an aquatic creature, naturally fearing Phoenix’s true fire, which could burn everything. She didn’t know what this fire was, only that it was different from ordinary charcoal fire, and just looking at it made her feel as if her soul was being roasted.
Seeing her fear, Luo Huai’an comforted her, “It’s alright, the fire won’t burn you. When controlled well, it’s great for grilling things.”
Second Fish trusted the boss and, upon hearing this, she put her worries aside. She took the chicken legs out of the oven and skillfully put them into takeout boxes.
Second Fish looked at the roasted chicken legs with some surprise. Her cooking skills had improved at a great pace recently, and it was clear to her that these chicken legs were roasted even better than when they were using the hanging oven. The crispiness of the skin was even better, and the aroma was even more tempting. It was practically a plus version of the original.
Second Fish knew that those who managed to buy this plus version of this big chicken leg rice meal would be in for a treat.
After Second Fish left, Luo Huai’an turned to Qi Ze and asked the question that had been foremost in her mind, “How did you become a mortal?”
Qi Ze: “…”
Seeing that Qi Ze did not answer, Luo Huai’an assumed that he was feeling inferior, so she said with pity, “Although you are so weak now, I will not look down on you. After all, you gave me many rare treasures in the past.”
Qi Ze: “?”
Luo Huai’an pointed to the ceiling, looking smug as if she were surveying her empire, wanting to show off her wealth to her former boss. “I am now the operator of this big cafeteria. I am not some kind of ungrateful beast. In return for what you have done for me, you follow me from now on, when I have meat to eat, you will have white rice to eat.”
Qi Ze: “…”
Seeing that Qi Ze remained silent and looked bewildered, Luo Huai’an, with her exceptionally intelligent mind, gradually sensed something was amiss and stopped speaking.
A thought flashed through Luo Huai’an’s mind: Could it be that when Phoenix became a mortal, he lost his memories as well?
She then tentatively asked, “Do you remember who our common enemy is?”
From the moment Luo Huai’an uttered her first sentence, Qi Ze had been completely baffled. After hearing Luo Huai’an’s question, he recalled what he had just learned in his political education class, and after a long pause, finally replied, “Capitalists?”
Luo Huai’an felt like she had been scolded: “…”
He’s gone mad, this Phoenix has gone mad!
