[MythicalBeastCafeteria] Chapter 23.3 — Delivery Service Begins

Luo Huai’an glanced at his cultivation level.

The bluebirds have never been particularly strong in combat. They were never as powerful as her, a heaven-blessed divine beast, who guarded the area and possessed great strength; she could defeat ten bluebirds with a single punch.

However, she now felt like she could kill a hundred of them with one blow.

Although the collapse of the Heavenly Dao greatly reduced the cultivation levels of the divine beasts, it felt like Qing Niao’s cultivation had been directly shoved into the ground.

Luo Huai’an wondered, Why is he so weak now?

Luo Huai’an directly voiced her doubts, “You are the messenger of the Queen Mother of the West, right? Why is your cultivation level like this?”

Qing Niao had previously assumed that Luo Huai’an was an extraordinary person due to her close relationship with relevant departments. Upon hearing Luo Huai’an directly reveal his identity, his expression froze.

Previously, no one in the relevant departments had noticed his identity, but this human knew.

Fortunately, he was simple-minded by nature, and unlike his older siblings who were favored and served by the side of the Queen Mother of the West, he had been assigned to be her messenger. He didn’t find it strange but only thought Luo Huai’an was very capable, so he directly told her about his situation.

“The Heavenly Dao collapsed, the gods fell, and I endured twenty heavenly lightning strikes, almost losing my soul and nearly all of my cultivation. I only recently woke up. I never expected that so much time have passed, and the world change this much.

Luo Huai’an was bewildered upon hearing this. Her experience was exactly the same as Qing Niao’s, except for the matter of heavenly lightning.

“Why would Heaven send down heavenly lightning?”

Qing Niao shook his head, “I don’t know why the heavenly lightning would descend. I only know that the more powerful the divine being was, the more heavenly lightning they endured.”

Luo Huai’an only remembered that after the collapse of the Heavenly Dao, she slept peacefully and woke up in the modern world, without any heavenly lightning incident.

Luo Huai’an thought about it for a long time but still couldn’t understand why she hadn’t suffered the heavenly lightning strikes like Qing Niao said.

However, there was no point in pursuing this matter now; she guessed it was probably because the other divine beasts weren’t as powerful as her.

Luo Huai’an cast a sympathetic glance at Qing Niao. It turned out that he had been struck by twenty bolts of heavenly lightning. No wonder he was so weak now, with his cultivation only slightly stronger than Big Fish’s.

However, she suddenly remembered that she, as a divine beast of fortune, had once worked as a bricklayer and a day laborer, while Qing Niao, who had once been a messenger of the Queen Mother of the West, was doing off-the-books work.

They were both doing very poorly, so she decided not to laugh at him since she was also no better.

Luo Huai’an sighed, feeling a pang of pity for Qing Niao. “Times have changed, life is tough now, how do you plan to support yourself?”

Qing Niao said frankly, “Captain Zhang sent me here hoping I could work here. Can you hire me?”

“Of course.” Luo Huai’an asked the question that concerned her most, “How much salary do you want?”

Qing Niao thought for a moment. He worked without proper papers on the construction site, earning five hundred yuan a month. He knew that five hundred yuan was a bit low, but he didn’t have any papers, and the foreman was only willing to give him this amount; otherwise, he wouldn’t be allowed to work there anymore.

After thinking for a moment, Qing Niao cautiously stated his expected salary, which was significantly more than five hundred yuan, and then asked, “Is this price acceptable?”

Big Fish was sweeping the floor and he happened to be sweeping nearby. He heard the bluebird’s words and was immediately lost in thought.

The wages Qing Niao asked for was too low; if they asked that in the open market, employers would be scrambling to hire them.

However, he suddenly remembered that his own salary was zero, and his sweeping movements became even more stiff.

Luo Huai’an looked troubled and slowly said, “Sigh, we just opened here, the economic situation is very bad, we can’t make much money, and the employees are not being paid.”

Qing Niao panicked, realizing he was probably asking for too much and that the other party no longer wanted him.

However, he knew that this job was recommended by the relevant department and understood Captain Zhang Jing’s meaning; Captain Zhang Jing hoped that he would stay here and do well.

Although working in the cafeteria wasn’t what he himself wanted, he was gentle and didn’t want to make things difficult for others, so he agreed to interview for the job.

Qing Niao stammered, “If that’s not possible, we can go even lower.”

“Although our conditions here are poor, we can still pay you a salary.” Luo Huai’an sighed, seemingly reluctant. “This salary is fine, we will also provide room and board.”

Upon hearing this, Qing Niao was overjoyed and quickly nodded in agreement.

Big Fish: “…”

This naive child was hopeless.

Luo Huai’an paid Qing Niao less than half the market rate.

The heartless boss was still the same heartless boss.

Luo Huai’an hired Qing Niao, and the two successfully signed a contract.

Luo Huai’an already had an idea of what tasks to assign to Qing Niao. She still asked, “What kind of job do you most want to do?”

When asked this question, Qing Niao felt a little confused. “I really enjoy delivering mail, conveying one person’s feelings to another, but nowadays people don’t communicate with letters anymore. Just arrange things for me however you like.”

Upon hearing this, Luo Huai’an had a burst of inspiration and smiled, “Delivering mail has no future, why not switch to delivering meals?”

Qing Niao blinked. “Hmm?”

Luo Huai’an said sincerely, “Sending mail can convey our feelings, so why can’t we send meals? Food is the most important thing for people. Students might be happier to receive food than anything else.”

Qing Niao’s eyes lit up. He liked delivering mail. In fact, when mentioning mail, what he meant was not simply letters; a more accurate description would be information and items.

Delivering food could be considered as delivering items, which was one aspect of ‘mail’.

“Our cafeteria isn’t large now, but it’s sure to thrive in the future. Modern society values convenience, and for us, our delivery service is a key area for development. Imagine a student conducting an important experiment in the lab, but when it’s mealtime, they can’t leave and have to endure hunger. That’s incredibly damaging to their physical and mental well-being. Our delivery service solves that problem, delivering hot meals to them, warming not only their stomachs but also their hearts. Don’t you think that’s meaningful?”

Luo Huai’an revealed her plans for delivery service, leaving Qing Niao completely enthralled.

Qing Niao nodded like a chick pecking at rice. “That’s amazing, that’s indeed very meaningful.”

Luo Huai’an patted him on the shoulder, her expression extremely solemn. “Qing Niao, you were once an important messenger under the Queen Mother of the West. Do you think anyone else besides you can shoulder this important responsibility?”

Qing Niao thought for a moment and then decisively shook his head.

He has been a professional messenger for tens of thousands of years, never taking the wrong route or delivering the wrong message. If he couldn’t handle such an important task, who else could?

“I’m a professional messenger, no one is more professional than me.” Qing Niao was eager to try. “Leave the food delivery business to me.”
