[ContrastTeamInADadW/BabyShow] Chapter 107.1 — New School

Soon, Lin Cheng brought Lin Momo to her new elementary school.

It was significantly larger than the neighborhood elementary school that Lin Momo had previously attended, and it boasted significantly more facilities and buildings. There was an arts building, a science building, a library, a gymnasium, a sports field, a teaching building, a school history museum…

And even separate elementary and middle school departments…

Along the way, Lin Momo listened to the teacher’s introductions and was dazzled by the surroundings.

By the time the teacher in charge of receiving them led them to the reception lounge of the general academic building, Lin Momo was still trying to memorize the buildings and places that had been introduced.

Meanwhile, the dean and another teacher were already waiting in the reception lounge. Upon seeing Lin Cheng and Lin Momo arrive, the dean greeted them warmly.

“Hello, Ms. Lin. I’m the Dean of Students for the Elementary School at Weiming School. My last name is Wang, and I was the one you spoke to on the phone earlier,” the Dean said.

She then pointed to the teacher beside her and introduced her to Lin Cheng and Lin Momo. “This is Ms. Yang Su. She will be the Head Teacher for Grade 4 at the beginning of the semester. She is also the current homeroom teacher of Grade 3, Class A.”

Lin Cheng nodded and shook hands with each of them.

Lin Momo, though a little nervous, politely greeted them both, “Hello, Dean Wang; Hello, Ms. Yang.”

The Dean of Students and Ms. Yang nodded in agreement, their faces beaming.

After everyone took their seats, the Dean of Students first briefed Lin Cheng and Lin Momo on the basics of Weiming School. Then, looking at Lin Cheng, he said, “Although, according to requirements, the school no longer has designated classes or tiered classes to ensure balanced resources across all classes, Class 3-A currently has very good overall grades, a good learning and activity atmosphere, and a relatively diverse student body. Based on what you’ve said about Momo, I would recommend that she go to Class 3-A—Teacher Yang’s class.”

The Dean of Students didn’t elaborate, but Class 3-A was clearly the best-performing class.

“Of course, this is only a current recommendation. The specific class you choose will depend on the student’s specific characteristics and academic performance. Momo’s personal preferences and those of her parents will also be a factor.”

After hearing the Dean of Students’ words, Lin Cheng nodded in understanding.

The Dean of Students and Teacher Yang briefly reviewed Lin Momo’s situation and went over her holiday homework, which she had painstakingly finished.

“You just finished this homework, didn’t you?” the Dean of Students asked, a half-smile on her face.

Lin Momo’s face flushed, a touch embarrassed, but she nodded and told the truth, “I wrote the composition a while ago, and the first dozen or so pages of the workbook were also written a while ago. The rest I did in the past few days.”

Lin Momo had expected the Dean of Students and the homeroom teacher to lecture her, but after hearing her explanation, the Dean of Students simply nodded and continued to look through Lin Momo’s workbooks.

She knew Lin Momo had just finished these assignments because she had recently become a fan of [Living with Dad] and had just watched her rush through her homework yesterday.

She also knew that Lin Momo had been delayed by recording the show, which had left her with less time to do her homework.

The Dean nodded in understanding. Then, looking at Lin Momo’s holiday homework, she said, “Although you were rushed, your handwriting is neat and you’ve done the exercises very carefully. You didn’t miss anything…”

“Not bad,” the Dean said, looking at Lin Cheng and Lin Momo.

She closed Lin Momo’s workbook and said to the father and daughter, “The homework is fine. Next, we need to take a small test.”

As if fearing Lin Momo would be too nervous, the Dean explained, “Don’t be nervous. It’s just a small test to help us teachers understand your basic knowledge and some personal information. There’s only one set of questions, and the questions are not difficult. Just treat it as a regular in-class assignment.”

“Okay,” Lin Momo nodded.

Although the Dean told her not to be nervous, Lin Momo subconsciously tensed as she was led to a small classroom nearby for the test.

… …

Lin Momo’s expression once again amused the audience in the livestream:

[Haha, Momo’s expression is so serious.]

[Looking at the way Momo walks, she exudes the air of someone entering the college exam hall.]

[Hahaha, hilarious.]

[But seriously, it’s not just Momo who’s nervous, I’m nervous too.]

[Me too, so nervous…]

[It feels like my own child is about to take the exam.]

Unfortunately, Weiming School’s entrance exam isn’t public, so these ‘cloud parents’ could only watch Lin Momo answer the questions through a window, following the cameraman’s view, but they have no way of seeing her specific performance.

In the small classroom, Teacher Yang handed Lin Momo a test paper and whispered, “Relax, just do what you normally do.”

“Okay,” Lin Momo nodded, took the paper, and reviewed it.

The test paper was an A3-sized sheet of paper, just like a regular exam paper, with four pages, front and back. The first page was Chinese, the second page was math, and the third page contained a variety of general questions.

As the principal had said, the questions weren’t difficult at all. They were all basic questions from levels one to three that Lin Momo had already learned.

Without further delay, Lin Momo picked up her pen and began working on the questions.

The entire process went smoothly. Lin Momo’s speed was quite good, and in a short while, she had finished the first three pages.

Finally, Lin Momo turned to the last page.

The questions on this page weren’t like regular tests; they were more like questionnaires. For example, a very abstract painting offered four options: A, B, C, and D. You were asked to choose what the drawing resembled and then describe what you saw.

Seeing Lin Momo pause and look distressed, Teacher Yang beside her gently reminded her, “There are no right or wrong answers to these questions. They are all subjective. Just choose according to your own understanding.”

Hearing this, Lin Momo finally felt relieved and began to work on the remaining questions.

They finished quickly. Teacher Yang took the test paper, reviewed it, and then took the papers and Lin Momo out of the classroom.

The Dean of Students and Teacher Yang carefully reviewed Lin Momo’s answers before returning to Lin Cheng with the test results and evaluation.

“She got all the questions on the test right. It seems Momo has a solid grasp of the basic knowledge for Grade 3 and above. She’s also quite attentive.”

While the test appeared to consist primarily of basic knowledge questions, the school had actually included a few that were tricky and would be easy for anyone to make mistakes if they were not careful. Lin Momo didn’t make any mistakes, proving she was very attentive.

Furthermore, there were several seemingly simple questions that actually required writing formulas. Lin Momo didn’t show any signs of impatience while answering them, remaining meticulous and careful throughout, demonstrating her patience.

“Judging from her academic level and knowledge, she’ll have no problem enrolling in Class A.”
