[DayTheEngagementWasBroken] Chapter 28.2 — Even If He Died, She Wouldn’t Care

Gou An was naturally asking this to the stupid cat, but in her shock, she actually said it out loud and it was heard clearly by the people around her.

Very obviously, the originally noisy surroundings became quiet for three seconds. Tang Xinjiu calmly borrowed a pair of binoculars from someone in the row behind them.

In fact, there was no need for binoculars. The man was only a short distance away. And the way He Ran approached him— holding his helmet and lowering his head slightly, listening to what the man said patiently—that person might indeed be that certain someone that no one would ever think would appear here…

An old man.

“Is there no age limit for this sport?” Tang Xinjiu murmured, “I keep feeling like I’m seeing my dad wanting to race—”

“… He Jinxing is only 28 years old,” Gou An said with a frown. She paused before adding, “Although I have to agree with you.”

How could she not?

This person gave people the feeling that he was from the previous generation. His aura was so strong that she couldn’t even raise her head when facing him.

“No, no, no,” Tang Xinjiu held her hands to her cheeks and pulled it down, “It’s too incongruous. How could he do this? Ah, I heard that he stayed abroad for a while, maybe when he was studying abroad… Would I be disrespectful to my elders to say this, but he has a really good figure. This is the first time I found that a one-piece leather racing suit is so sexy. I can’t take my eyes off the zipper in front.”

Gou An took a look at where the so-called ‘front zipper’ was, then immediately wished she could poke her eyes out, and silently moved her gaze away from the crotch of the King of Hell’s leather pants.

“There is no age limit for having a perky butt.” As a minor who was just about to become an adult, Zhou Yutong was obviously more shameless and daring than Tang Xinjiu. She was holding her face with her hands, looking at the man, intoxicated, “Anyway, I can do that.”

What can you do??

Gou An’s ears felt hot and her scalp had gone numb after hearing this.

At this moment her cell phone vibrated. She opened it and saw that it was Gou Yu. The father happily told his daughter on WeChat that she didn’t need to look for a bodyguard at He’s anymore. He had found one for her that he was sure would satisfy her.

[GOU YU: Do you want to see photos? I have photos.]

[HOLD ON, GOU CAN WIN: Is this a blind date or a bodyguard?]

[HOLD ON, GOU CAN WIN: I’m no longer in the He’s Building, I’m at the Yima Racetrack.]

Gou Yu was quite confused as to why his daughter went to that place. Then he received a photo.

It was a royal blue Yamaha R1M with a man in all-black racing gear riding on it. In his low-lying posture riding on the racing motorbike, the man’s back was stretched like a black panther crawling behind the grass. His waist and hips were lifted into a tight line because of this posture.

Quite eye-catching.

At this time, the racers were doing a slow lap to warm up their bikes. Gou An had zoomed in and casually taken the photo with her mobile phone.

[HOLD ON, GOU CAN WIN: ‘Picture’]

[HOLD ON, GOU CAN WIN: … I’m watching Young Uncle He’s race?]

Gou An herself was shocked by this magical development. She felt that this kind of restless event was totally incompatible with He Jinxing’s personality.

But when she thought about it, it was true that this person was not a traditional domineering male protagonist in a romance novel. The male protagonists in other domineering CEO novels were very frugal with words and never showed their emotions on their faces, so it was indeed inevitable that his personality was a little weird.

He was even more difficult to deal with.

He was always elusive, just like today: he appeared at the motorcycle racetrack and did something unexpected.

[GOU YU: Oh, his butt is so perky.]

[HOLD ON, GOU CAN WIN: …………… Dad!! ]

[GOU YU: I want to go to the gym after getting off work. Can you pass him a message for me? Please tell him that Mr. Gou hopes he can sit in the office and work in front of his computer. Middle-aged people shouldn’t mess around like this.]

[HOLD ON, GOU CAN WIN: You are more than a decade older than him!]

[GOU YU: … Ah, yes. Sorry, I always feel like he is my age.]

Gou An: “…”

But really, who could say otherwise?

……

While Gou An and her father had completely forgotten about the bodyguard and were enthusiastically discussing how well Gou An’s elders, that is, Gou Yu and men of his age, were doing in terms of body management, the racing competition began.

Gou An discovered that He Ran and the others had all taken off the club logos on their racing suits for unknown reasons. When they climbed onto their motorbikes, the young guys looked at each other, obviously hesitant.

Only He Jinxing sat astride the bike with his long legs and arms, lowering his head to tighten the wrist guards of his racing gloves.

At the command, the rider was locked on and ready.

Gou An didn’t know why she was feeling nervous. She lowered her head and sent a message to Gou Yu—

[HOLD ON, GOU CAN WIN: Dad, you don’t seem surprised at all that He’s young uncle can ride a motorbike?]

Gou Yu asked her very calmly, why should he be surprised?

[GOU YU: He knows how to do this. He even used to get paid sponsorship… When he was studying abroad, he had a falling out with the He family and had no living expenses, so he used this thing to get food money.]

[GOU YU: Is he playing with He Ran’s group of brats now? ]

[GOU YU: Does he plan to let them be strung up and beaten?]

When Gou Yu sent this message, what he described had already happened.

Gou An heard the motorcycle engines revving up, then the huge roar at the beginning turned into the thrilling sound of ‘humm—‘

In the crowd, the black figure riding on the royal blue motorcycle rushed out with an angry roar just as everyone started moving!

It was completely different from the old-age stroll he took earlier to warm up the motorbike.

With legs tightly clamped on the fuel tank, his waist and hip were suspended to offset the balance when turning, the knee pads creating sparks as they touched the track!

Tang Xinjiu and Zhou Yutong were stunned at first, then they screamed. Amid the cheers, Zhou Yutong rushed back and grabbed Miss Gou, who was stunned like an idiot, and roared at her, “Tomorrow you tell the He family that the Gou family will accept He Jinxing as replacement for the engagement! If they don’t give him to you, roll around on the middle of the turntable!!! Just say you only want He Jinxing!!!”

Gou An: “…”

“Yesterday you asked me to be your sister-in-law—”

Zhou Yutong huffed, “Today is different from the past, let my gege get out of here!!! Look at him, he’s eating dust behind Mr. He!!!”

Gou An looked up and saw that it was true.

To be precise, almost everyone was eating dust behind that Yamaha R1M—

It could be seen that after the initial shock, everyone was trying their best to turn that accelerator to the best of their ability!

Every racing motorbike was turning at full throttle, with the slowest one going at least 70mph!1

In fact, this was already a very good level among amateur riders…

But with someone in the lead, no one wanted to lose face.

Motorbikes of different brands, displacements, and tuning have completely different engine sounds at different speeds, sounding just like countless wild beasts chasing and biting each other on the track!

As the second in the group, He Ran’s Kawasaki H2 was closely following the royal blue Yamaha in front!

Accidents often happen in an instant.

He Ran’s Kawasaki H2, which was known as a ground-based aircraft, has strong straight-line acceleration. The reason why this motorbike was rarely seen on professional racetracks was that its design itself was not so suitable for racing turns…

What’s more, He Ran rode it mostly for commuting and mountain climbing, and its tires have not been replaced with full hot-melt ones so their adhesion to the track was not very good. When turning at high speed, it was easy to slip just as he took the corner.

Amidst everyone’s horrified gasps, he skidded and flipped on the third bend of the last lap. With a loud ‘BOOM!’, the engine idling and screaming helplessly, He Ran flew out and rolled on the grass.

At the same time, the heavy, liter-class motorcycle was also thrown out in the other direction, sweeping across the entire track!

The flying parts hit the Yamaha R1M in front of it. It was a small vehicle disturbed at high speed. Although the man on the motorbike tried his best to hold the handlebars steady and adjust the titanium ruler in front of the motorbike in time, he still couldn’t control the violent shaking of the body.

As everyone crashed into a heap behind him, he pointed the motorbike towards the grass lawn. As the motorbike flew out completely out of control, he himself flipped sideways, tumbled several times, and landed firmly on the grass.

No one was prepared. The accident was completely unexpected.

Amid the commotion in the stands, the racetrack’s rescue team was the calmest and rushed out onto the the track first.

He Ran’s head was buzzing in the chaos. As the one who fell the hardest, he felt as if his whole body was falling apart.

He moved his fingers with difficulty and lifted the visor of the damaged helmet. His eyes were bloody and blurry. He didn’t know where and how he had hit. The blood flowed down from his forehead, further blurring his eyes…

In a daze, he saw Gou An and other people he knew running towards this side behind the rescue team.

He wanted to tell Gou An, ‘it’s okay, your younger brother is in the next group and he is very safe.’

Also, I’m in pain.

But he couldn’t make any sound. He could only watch her approach. Then, when she reached where he was, she glanced at him, and without hesitation stepped past him and pounced on He Jinxing who had slowly crawled up from the ground not far behind him.

He Jinxing was probably hurt from the fall and was sitting on the grass to recover.

Before he could fully react, he heard the rustling sound of footsteps on the grass, and then the familiar sweet fragrance that had caused him to change his car enveloped him—

The buckle of the helmet was opened by someone, and the helmet was hastily removed and pulled off. The little miss in front of him held his helmet, now worn down to the point of being unsightly and covered with grass and dirt. She nervously leaned in and asked, “Young Uncle, are you okay?”

He Jinxing: “…”

He Jinxing didn’t know whether he should laugh or not. He let out a whine of pain and spoke in a sarcastic tone, “If I was really in trouble, I would probably be dead by now after you took off my helmet like that.”

Gou An knelt on the grass, holding the dirty helmet, and looked at him blankly.

… …

This was the last scene He Ran saw before he fainted.

I deserve this, he told himself.

Just as Zhou Yanji said before, after Endless Night got into trouble, the only one who remembered Gou An and went back to look for her was He Jinxing.

So now, even if he was to die, she would not care.

  1. Chinese measurements defy me. I know the number is 70 but then it says ‘yards’ and then ‘velocity’ 😭. China uses kilometers but 70kph seemed inordinately slow for a race so I left it at 70 mph. ↩︎

  1. Okay first niceeee that the author researched that stuff about motorbikes. I’m assuming they did cause that actually sounds legit. Also holy shit the confusion about his age but his body was so funny. Like he’s hot but he feels old but he’s not but he’s good at this?!?!

Not like that one ballet one when the girl had the cutest toes/feet and was amazing at ballet lol.
