[ContrastTeamInADadW/BabyShow] Chapter 50.3 — By Plane

Seeing the audience’s comments, Lin Momo had a big smile on her face and tugged on Lin Cheng’s sleeve next to her.

“Dad.”

“Hm?”

“They said they like me.”

“Here,” Lin Momo pointed to another comment and said to Lin Cheng, “They also said I’m cute.”

Lin Momo’s face was full of pride and happiness; Lin Cheng also had a smile on his face.

“Well,” Lin Cheng nodded and said, “You are very cute.”

After being praised by Lin Cheng, Lin Momo lowered her head in embarrassment.

At this time, the video was showing a shot of Lin Cheng leaving for work.

Not long after Lin Cheng went out, Lin Momo also started pulling the cart she borrowed from the grandma downstairs, filled with bottles and other scrap.

Lin Momo walked a long way from where they lived to where the waste recycling plant was located.

Although the episode edited this section due to time restrictions, it could still be seen from the shot details that Lin Momo had been walking for a long time.

Lin Cheng still remembered that day when he met Lin Momo by chance at the recycling station. At that time, Lin Cheng had already guessed that Lin Momo must have spent a lot of effort walking to get there—but guessing was very different from seeing it with his own eyes.

Watching it happen now carried a much bigger impact.

The small figure kept walking on the roadside dragging a pile of junk that was even taller than she was. Lin Momo’s speed was not very fast at all. Every once in a while, she had to stop and rely on the right-numbered bus to check if she was on the correct route. However, Lin Cheng could see from her overly-skilled movements that this was not the first time that Lin Momo had sold scrap this way.

At the beginning, when he learned from Chen Yu that he would be the contrast team in the program, Lin Cheng hadn’t cared at all.

But when he saw this scene—Lin Cheng felt angry for the first time because of how the program team operated. More than that, he also felt angry at himself. Because he didn’t care at the time, and he couldn’t be bothered to do anything about it, he could only blame himself that this happened.

Lin Cheng lowered his head to look at his daughter. “Sorry,” he said to Lin Momo.

But Lin Momo only looked confused.

While she was still wondering why her father suddenly said ‘sorry’ to her, a hand fell on her head.

Lin Cheng looked at Lin Momo. He wanted to tell her not to do this kind of thing again, but thinking that if he told her that their family was not short of money, this girl would definitely not believe him, Lin Cheng could only sigh silently.

“I will work hard. I’ll work hard and make money,” Lin Cheng promised Lin Momo, reassuring her in his own way.

Hearing this, Lin Momo’s eyes lit up and she nodded, “Okay.”

After thinking about it some more, Lin Momo said to Lin Cheng, “Dad, you have to smile more.”

“Huh?” Lin Cheng was surprised by the sudden change in topic.

Lin Momo said, with a serious look on her small face, “You look better when you smile. If you don’t smile… you still look very good, but the audience won’t like you as much.”

At this time, Lin Momo was still thinking about that strange but realistic dream she had. Everyone disliked them, father and daughter.

Hearing this, the corner of Lin Cheng’s mouth twitched slightly. “…”

When he said that he will work hard, he did not mean in the entertainment industry. However, seeing Lin Momo’s serious appearance, Lin Cheng decided not to explain their family situation to her for the time being.

At this time, an airport staff member came in and informed them that they could now board the plane.

Lin Cheng nodded and led Lin Momo to the boarding chute.

… …

This was Lin Momo’s first time on a plane, and she was curious and nervous about everything.

At this time, the boarding precautions began to play on the screen in front.

Lin Momo listened very carefully and wanted to imitate the lady in the video, but she was afraid that she might do something wrong and others would see it, then she would be laughed at.

Lin Cheng seemed to see what Lin Momo was thinking, and he didn’t care about the inquisitive look from the passenger next to him. He began to patiently explain the video to Lin Momo, where the life-vest was and where the oxygen mask would fall from, how to buckle and open the seat belt, and the location of the devices and buttons on the seat.

“Got it?”

“Got it!!”

Lin Cheng smiled and rubbed Lin Momo’s head again. He found that Lin Momo was actually very smart, and she could easily remember things even if you only explain it to her once.

Lin Momo turned around and pressed her face up against the window of the cabin. With a big smile on her face, she whispered in a low voice: “My dad is super nice…”

Lin Momo thought she was speaking so quietly that no one would hear her. But as anyone who has ever flown on a plane would know, the cabin was very quiet just before takeoff.

Not only did Lin Cheng hear her words, but all the passengers and crew members nearby did as well, and they couldn’t help but smile.

As the plane took off, Lin Cheng reached out and pulled Lin Momo’s head back from the window. He covered Lin Momo’s ears with his hands to prevent her from getting tinnitus due to the roar and weightlessness of the plane as it took off.

Once the plane was flying smoothly, and after confirming that Lin Momo was not feeling unwell, he let go.

At this time, a completely different scene could be seen outside the plane and Lin Momo opened her mouth wide in surprise. She again pressed her face against the window and looked outside in wonder.

A while later, the novelty finally gave way to sleepiness.

… …

Lin Momo fell asleep, and when she opened her eyes again, they had already arrived in a strange city.

At this time, Lin Momo was only half-awake and her eyes were still dazed. Seeing this, Lin Cheng wrapped his coat around Lin Momo and carried her out of the airport.

… …

At this time, everyone in the director team was already waiting for them outside the airport.

As Lin Cheng and his daughter walked out of the airport, the recording of the show officially began.

Over at the livestream channel, when the father and daughter appeared on the screen, the comment area suddenly became lively.

[They’re coming!]

[Every time, I always worry that Dad Lin and Momo will not be able to appear in the next episode of the show because they failed to complete the previous week’s task.]

[Haha, so true. Me too.]

[It feels like dad is getting better and better at taking care of his daughter!]

From the audience’s perspective, Lin Cheng’s progress as a father was simply visible to the naked eye.

[No! Otherwise, wouldn’t this show be called ‘Daddy’s Metamorphosis’?]

[Shouldn’t it be called ‘Parent-Child Survival Story’? Hahaha.]

T/N: I feel remiss that I never showed you what a comments barrage looks like. They’re not just politely scrawling on the side or bottom of the screen—they occupy the whole thing! You can, of course, turn off the feature but a lot of people enjoy reading or actively participating in this ‘barrage of bullets’. Viewers sometimes even band together to ‘hide’ scenes they don’t want to see by creating a ‘barrage shield.

  1. how u manage to read the comments while watching 🤯 that’s too many🤪🤪🤪

    1. I think they’re just used to it 😂 Like how I can read subtitles fine because of years of watching anime in original Japanese, but my friend get super distracted when they do.
