[7YrSecretLove] Chapter 52.1 — The Photoshop is Pretty Good

Luo Qi said nothing from beginning to end. She signed for the documents and returned to the office with two small potted plants in her hands. She placed them on the window sill to bask in the sun.

Chi Xin followed behind her carrying the stack of documents from Cui Peng in her arms. In addition to some reports, there were also several contracts.

However, these documents could have easily been sent over by express delivery—yet Cui Peng travelled thousands of miles by high-speed train to deliver them personally.

“Xiao Chi, please get me the number for Lingjia’s boss.”

“Okay, right away.”

Yu Bo was the nominal head of Lingjia Capital.

He was necessary in Luo Qi’s plans; she wanted to contact him in advance to lay the basis.

She leaned against the window sill, bathing in the morning light along with the two small potted plants.

She dialed Yu Bo’s number; it took more than twenty seconds for the person on the other end to answer.

The voice was polite but cold. “Hello, who is this?”

“Hello, Mr. Yu. I’m Luo Qi.”

Yu Bo still didn’t smile at all and said, “I’ve heard about you for a long time.”

He didn’t need to be too genial towards Luo Qi, and he didn’t need to work well together if he didn’t want to.

Lingjia Capital and Shu Rui were currently acting in concert; he naturally hoped that Ruipu would grow bigger, so that their shares in Ruipu would be more valuable.

Luo Qi looked at the stack of documents on her desk and said, “I want to thank Mr. Yu for asking someone to deliver the documents to me in person.”

“Cui Peng sent it there personally?”

“Yes, it can be seen that the people in Lingjia are very conscientious in what they do.”

Yu Bo couldn’t tell from her tone whether she was truly praising or being sarcastic.

He didn’t have much contact with Cui Peng, but he was quite impressed with what he’d seen. The girl was pretty and delicate, and had a particularly lovable personality. She was the most active one in the team, and she did all the most tiring and boring tasks, all without complaining.

She was unlike those other people in the company who came in through connections—those had high ambitions not matching their abilities.

Xu Xiangyi had personally called to arrange for Cui Peng to come in. It was also the first time that Xu Xiangyi himself opened the back door for someone. At the time, before Cui Peng actually came to Lingjia Capital to report for work, this had given Yu Bo quite a headache.

He hadn’t expected this matter to be so worry-free.

Luo Qi really had nothing else to talk to him about, and so she said goodbye after informing him that she received the reports and contracts.

Yu Bo saved Luo Qi’s number. There would always be times when he would need to communicate with her, so he added her on WeChat.

… …

Luo Qi watered the potted plants and went to the open office area outside for a walk. She hasn’t come to the company for more than ten days. The office area has since been adjusted and partial renovation has been completed.

Compared to before, the lighting and sense of space were much better.

The renovation costs went over budget. It was originally planned to be 50,000 yuan, but ended up being 67,000 yuan.

The portion that exceeded the budget were the sofas placed in the multi-functional area. Shu Rui was not stingy in this matter and bought a leather set.

… …

Shu Rui has not entertained Cui Peng in restaurants outside in recent days. He has always taken her to the office canteen. After the food was improved, the food in the canteen was no worse than that in restaurants outside. Cui Peng came to Ruipu every now and then, and this arrangement was better so as to avoid being accused by Luo Qi that he was using company funds for personal gains.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t afford to treat Cui Peng personally outside, but they were just colleagues after all, so there was no need.

What he didn’t know was that whenever he brought Cui Peng to eat in the cafeteria, she was subtly casual and intimate with him—and this was noticed by Ruipu’s employees.

… …

At this moment, Cui Peng was actually in the reception room, her laptop open and working on some project materials.

Whenever she came to Ruipu recently, she didn’t stay in Shu Rui’s office anymore. She deliberately avoided it, telling him quite considerately, “I don’t want to let people misunderstand you or gossip about you.”

Shu Rui poured a cup of tea and brought it to the reception room next door, showing the proper etiquette for receiving guests.

Cui Peng was still looking at her laptop screen.

“You’re so busy. Just send the report directly next time.”

“It’s not only the report,” Cui Peng replied, “The main thing is that there is a contract that needs her signature, so I am here. If I don’t rush it, I don’t know how long it will be delayed. If things are delayed, Mr. Yu will not blame Luo Qi—he would only blame me for not doing things well.”

Cui Peng took the tea and said, “Thank you.”

She smiled again and said, “Luo Qi already has a problem with you, and I can’t add to your troubles.”

Cui Peng held the tea cup with both hands, “I can also work overtime on the high-speed rail, it will not affect my other work. In fact, I also look forward to coming to Ruipu. You may not understand this feeling.”

But what could Shu Rui not understand?

He knew that she came to Ruipu to see him.

Cui Peng was not in a hurry. He didn’t need to respond immediately. Over time, the man would always respond. It took more than a year to make Pei Shixiao fall in love with her.

She adjusted the atmosphere in a timely manner, “Mr. Shu, please, you’re busy. I will eat in your canteen later for lunch. I heard that there will be crispy short ribs at noon today. I have been missing the taste of the short ribs from your canteen. Thank you, Mr. Shu, for your hospitality.”

Shu Rui: “…”

There was originally no crispy short ribs on today’s lunch menu. He did ask the canteen to add it today—but it wasn’t for Cui Peng. He wanted to let Luo Qi taste it and stop her from running her mouth.

Before going on her business trip, Luo Qi complained that the short ribs in the cafeteria were unpalatable and that the frying heat was too high making the meat tough and hard to chew.

Now there was a different approach to the dish.

However, at noon, Luo Qi—the person most critical of Ruipu’s meals—did not appear in the cafeteria.

After inquiring with Chi Xin, Shu Rui found out that Luo Qi had gone to Yuanwei Group.
