[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 56.1 — Day 20: Phone Call

Standing in front of the gates of Villa No. 6, Cheng Liu watched Ji Chaozhou turn around and leave, her drunken mind still not very clear about what was happening.

It turned out that Feng Shi did know how to drink. In order to outdrink him, Cheng Liu herself got drunk.

So when Cheng Liu heard Ji Chaozhou say ‘goodbye’ and then turn to go back, she was actually feeling a little lucky in her heart. This was good! Ji Chaozhou wouldn’t be able to smell the alcohol on her body anymore.

In her subconscious, she only remembered that Ji Chaozhou was a perfumer, and she didn’t want him to smell her when she smelled horrible.

“Senior sister, I’ll take you in.” He Bai heard Cheng Liu’s refusal and saw how Ji Chaozhou turned around and leave. A sense of victory rose in his heart, and he raised his voice so that the person going in next door could hear him clearly.

At this point, Ji Chaozhou had already walked into the front yard. He suddenly turned around and looked at Cheng Liu, “Remember to return my watch tomorrow.”

Cheng Liu’s confused mind cleared up for a moment, and she was a little disappointed, “Oh.”

It turned out that she had to give it back so soon. She wanted to wear it for a few more days to show off.

He Bai’s face changed slightly. Was the watch in Cheng Liu’s wrist Ji Chaozhou’s?

Did Cheng Liu spend that time she was missing outside the press conference to meet up with Ji Chaozhou?

This Ji Chaozhou was quite capable; he was able to stop Cheng Liu before the press conference.

No need to think about it; one could easily guess that the relationship between the two of them right now was ambiguous.

Did he use that watch deliberately to mark his territory?

He Bai’s jaw tightened, and he tried to control his emotions. He had been following Cheng Liu for so many years. If Cheng Liu really had a relationship with Ji Chaozhou, she would most definitely let everyone know.

Right now, they were still just ambiguous—he could still go for it.

“Mr. Ji, I will help senior sister take off the watch and give it to you now,” He Bai raised his voice and leaned closer to Cheng Liu, putting his arms around her shoulders.

But right after he said his parting words, Ji Chaozhou already closed gates of his villa and didn’t see He Bai’s posturing anymore.

On the other hand, it caused Cheng Liu to hurriedly jump inside the gates of Villa No. 6 on instinct.

Before He Bai could even put his hand on her shoulder, he had already failed.

Young President Cheng rushed into her villa, anger flooding her sleepy, drunken mind.

Ji Chaozhou said she could return it tomorrow, but He Bai actually wanted to take the watch now! What was the difference between this and taking her life??

There was only one thought in Cheng Liu’s unclear mind: Tomorrow, the bonus of the chief assistant must be deducted because he endangers her, Young President Cheng’s, good life.

“Senior sister!” He Bai ignored Ji Chaozhou who had already closed the gates of his villa and chased after Cheng Liu.

Although Young President Cheng was quite drunk, her skills were still formidable. She ran up to the bedroom on the second floor, locked it, lay on the bed and fell asleep with her head covered by the quilt.

He Bai chased her all the way to the second floor, but he couldn’t open the bedroom door; it was locked from the inside.

He had no choice but to pace around the second floor. He went to the study to look for hangover medicine, poured a glass of water, and went to the bedroom door again to knock on the door.

“Senior sister, open the door and drink the medicine.”

Cheng Liu lay on the bed, covering the watch on her left wrist with her right hand. She got upset upon hearing the knocking on the door from outside, “Just put it there, you can go back.”

Knowing Cheng Liu’s drinking capacity, He Bai wasn’t particularly worried about her state. He stood outside the door and made sure there was no big movement inside, then put the plate down, “Senior sister, I will leave the water and medicine by the door. Remember to drink it when you wake up.”

He turned and went downstairs, the flurry of emotions on his face gradually fading away.

He Bai was used to listening to Cheng Liu’s orders and would never have taken the initiative to take off his watch and put it on her wrist.

In other words, he didn’t dare—unless Cheng Liu herself spoke up.

He was jealous that it was Ji Chaozhou’s watch that was on Cheng Liu’s wrist.

But it seemed that for now… these two people have not yet clarified their relationship.

He Bai walked to the living room, suddenly stopped, turned back and looked up at the second floor. Upstairs was the person he had been secretly in love with for several years, and now she had someone else she liked.

The sound of He Bai driving away could be heard clearly in the living room of Villa No. 5.

Ji Chaozhou sat on the armchair and looked down to check the time on his phone: it was half past eleven.

Outside the gate earlier, Ji Chaozhou and Cheng Liu had been separated by some distance. She looked no different from usual, but he smelled the almost overpowering stench of alcohol.

Such a strong smell of alcohol could not have come except from drinking several bottles of baijiu. He thought the assistant would stay in there for a long time to take care of her.

Wasn’t she drunk?

Ji Chaozhou turned his head to look at the plaid coat lying on the armrest of the armchair. After a few days, the original smell on it had became lighter.

He leaned on the armchair, his face gently pressed against the back of the seat; his slender legs were bent up, and he was half curled up.

Ji Chaozhou stretched out his knuckles to touch the coat on the armrest, feeling the fabric on his fingertips.

News of accidents that had befallen unconscious drunk people kept appearing in his mind.

After a long time, Ji Chaozhou held the phone and dialed Cheng Liu’s number. He just wanted to… make sure she was okay.

The call rang for a long time, and just when he thought no one would answer, the call was finally connected.

Ji Chaozhou heard slightly disordered breathing—it seemed she was indeed drunk.

“Cheng Liu.”

Cheng Liu, who had been randomly pressing the phone to her ear, heard a clear and pleasant voice that was very familiar to her, so she responded vaguely, “Yeah.”

Ji Chaozhou, who was leaning on the armchair, took back his hand that was pressing against her coat, raised it and pressed it hard on his chest, as if this could suppress the violent beating of his heart.

He lowered his eyes. No one could see what emotions swirled in his amber pupils. His long eyelashes cast a shadow on the straight bridge of his nose, like a trace of newly melted ice and snow. He quietly listened to the slightly disordered breathing on the other end of the phone for a long time, until the other party’s breathing gradually became more peaceful, and then he asked softly, “Cheng Liu, do you… like me?”

His voice was extremely soft, so soft that even if someone was standing in front of him, they might not be able to hear it clearly.

More so, the person on the other end of the phone who was already asleep and naturally couldn’t hear him.

The only response to Ji Chaozhou’s question was Cheng Liu’s peaceful breathing.

No one responded, but he didn’t care at all. He just smiled suddenly, like frost melting away to reveal the hidden beauty.

In the end, Ji Chaozhou did not hang up the phone. He slowly leaned on her coat and listened quietly to Cheng Liu’s breathing, making sure that nothing would happen to her.

The two of them could hear each other’s breathing through the mobile phone, as if they were close to each other, sleeping cuddled up together.

  1. For me it’s I’d say weird, if mc would be less drunk she’ll think that her future boyfriend is cute and she’d be happiest person in the world, while that He guy is getting annoying.

  2. Ah damn that’s super cute 🙈🙈
