[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 31.1— Stay in the Same Room

Qin Moling has not liked having his pictures taken since he was a child. Yet these wedding photos would be taken in eight different places. He himself wondered why he agreed to his grandma’s request.

“When will the wedding dress for the photo shoot be customized?” he asked.

Old Madam Qin had already made arrangements, “You don’t have to worry about this. Your mother and I contacted wedding dress designers when you first received the certificate. The wedding dress for each of the photo sessions are designed by different designers.”

To get the wedding photos of this young couple taken, she and her daughter-in-law have combed through dozens of wedding magazines.

In addition to custom-made ones for Jian Hang, they also managed to acquire a special wedding dress on loan. This particular wedding dress was only for exhibition. Her daughter-in-law had to ask several friends to be able to borrow it—it would be flown directly to Santorini.

The old madam didn’t tell her grandson about these matters in detail for fear that Qin Moling would find her verbose.

But Qin Moling seemed to have no intention of saying any such thing. Instead he said, “Buy some more dresses and clothes for Jian Hang.”

Old Madam Qin didn’t understand her grandson’s intention and interpreted it as polite words. “No need to buy a dress. The photographer can arrange it himself. What color and style of clothes are suitable for what scene, the photographer knows best. They have the experience, so what we buy may not necessarily be the most suitable for a photoshoot.”

Qin Moling actually wanted grandma to buy some dresses for Jian Hang to wear everyday, but she misunderstood.

Euphemistic hints didn’t work, so he went straight to the point, “Jian Hang doesn’t have many clothes. The wardrobe in the cloakroom is mostly empty. I can’t treat her badly. You and your mother can see what clothes are suitable and fill up the wardrobe for her.”

But Old Madam Qin constantly worried that the young couple may not have an excuse to spend more time together. “The clothes one wears on a daily basis is different from a wedding dress. It’s better to let Xiao Hang choose her clothes by herself, and you can just follow while she shops and pay.”

After a long time of talking, the ball was kicked back to him.

Qin Moling felt that grandma didn’t intend to help in this matter, so he had to give up, “Okay, I understand.”

Old Madam Qin also wanted to discuss the specific time to go to Santorini with Jian Hang so she hurried to end the call. “Let’s talk later. I’ll go and ask Xiao Hang when she is free.”

Qin Moling changed his mind, “Grandma, let me ask her.”

Old Madam Qin got what she wanted after all, “Then you can discuss it and tell me, and I will contact the photographer.”

Before hanging up the phone, grandma asked him, “Can you book the hotel yourself?”

“Yeah, I’ll ask Secretary Gao to make reservations.”

The last time Qin Moling called Jian Hang was more than ten days ago. In the last few days, there was a time difference, so he only sent messages.

He didn’t contact her every day, but every now and then, he would ask her how she was doing.

Qin Moling directly entered Jian Hang’s number and dialed it. He remembered her number after reading it once.

Jian Hang was having lunch. She had a meeting all morning and had to continue in the afternoon. She ordered takeout and just ate in the conference room.

The phone vibrated and the caller ID said: Qin

Jian Hang slid the answer button and put the phone to her ear. There were other colleagues next to her, so she lowered her voice, “Not napping?”

“No.” Qin Moling heard the slight sounds of her chewing, “Eating?”

“Yeah, the meeting just ended.”

In the past, Jian Hang would have put down her chopsticks, talked to him politely, and only continued eating after the call. Now, she did not feel impolite to eat while chatting with him.

“My stomach doesn’t hurt,” she said proactively.

Qin Moling was not in a hurry to talk about taking wedding photos and asked, “What are you having for lunch?”

“Mushu pork, baby greens, steamed eggs with shrimps, and mushroom soup.” Jian Hang told him one by one, “It’s very light.”

When Qin Moling heard about steamed eggs with shrimps, he couldn’t help but ask, “Is it as delicious as my cooking?”

Jian Hang actually hadn’t tasted it yet. She put down her chopsticks and took a spoonful of it, but she felt that it was missing a little taste. “No.”

“What about you? Have you eaten?” She continued the topic.

This was the longest conversation they ever had.

Qin Moling said, “Yeah, I ate a while ago.”

He got to the point, “Grandma just called me and asked us to take wedding photos. I chose Santorini as the first stop. When are you free?”

“June 2nd.” She had a few days free that week.

Jian Hang has been to Santorini once before, but her vacation was limited. She had to go back to work on the project before she could stay enough. When Grandma Qin was deciding on the wedding photo spots, she asked Jian Hang for her opinion and asked her what she liked so she could add them to the list.

Jian Hang chose Santorini.

The call lasted eleven minutes, breaking the previous call record between her and Qin Moling.

After closing the line, Jian Hang modified the display note and changed ‘Qin’ to ‘Husband’.

After the time was determined, Qin Moling asked Secretary Gao to book the seaside cliff hotel in advance.

Towards the end of May, Qin Moling sent a message to Jian Hang: [Are you flying from Shanghai?]

Jian Hang: [Yeah.]

On the second day, Jian Hang got up early to go to the airport. While getting dressed, she received a message from Qin Moling.

Husband: [I’ll fly over with you.]

Immediately afterwards, he sent his location.

He was now in Shanghai.

Jian Hang was halfway through putting on a nude pink T-shirt. She hesitated for a moment, took it off, took out a black slim-fitting T-shirt from the closet and put it on.

Every time she took a long-distance flight, she dressed mainly for comfort, and today she wore a wide-leg, high-waisted, denim pants paired with a basic black T-shirt.

The driver took her to the airport in advance.

Qin Moling arrived half an hour earlier than her and was waiting for her in the VIP lounge.

When Jian Hang entered the lounge, she took a look around and saw no familiar figure.

“Here,” a cold voice came from behind.

Jian Hang turned around and was stunned for a moment.

She was used to seeing Qin Moling wearing suit trousers and shirts. She had known him for so long and had never seen him wearing anything other than formal business attire. Today he was wearing casual pants and a black polo shirt, making him look taller and more stylish. She almost didn’t dare to recognize this plastic husband of hers.

No matter whether he was dressed formally or casually, he had an indescribable aura of masculinity.

She had been inexplicably possessive of him before, and his skin was good part of the reason why1.

T/N: The text doesn’t explain but I think Jian Hang changed out of her nude pink shirt into black because she didn’t want to lose momentum to Qin Moling. It was mentioned elsewhere that unless Jian Hang wore black, she actually looked very feminine.

FOOTNOTE:

  1. ‘Skin’ in Buddhist terms is the outer appearance of a person, as opposed to bones which is the inner things like emotions, attitude, ability, temperament etc. So while Qin Moling—as the ML—probably has great epidermis, Jian Hang was actually saying that he is very good looking and she was quite possessive of his looks. ↩︎
