[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 19.3 — Buy Her Midnight Snack

It took almost the same time to go back. At 4:22, he drove into the hospital parking lot.

The car had just parked when a call came in.

Jiang Shenghe asked, “What’s going on? Are you hungover and going to get an infusion?”

Qin Moling raised an eyebrow, “Did you see my car?”

“Yeah.” Jiang Shenghe’s car just passed by the entrance of the hospital.

“It’s not me. Jian Hang has been resting in the hospital for a few days.” Qin Moling unbuckled his seat belt. The car was filled with the smell of jianbing. He opened the window to disperse the smell.

Jiang Shenghe said, “Have you become a father so early?”

Qin Moling: “…”

This kind of brain circuit was not available to ordinary people.

“She fainted from low blood sugar a few days ago.”

Jiang Shenghe expressed concern for Jian Hang but didn’t let up on teasing him, “Come to the group to talk about your feelings when you have time.”

“My feelings about what?”

“What it’s like to be the son-in-law of your elementary school teacher.”

Jiang Shenghe smiled and hung up the phone.

Qin Moling and Jiang Shenghe were classmates in elementary school. They were among the best in the class, but they were also the two biggest trouble-makers in class. They were called to the office by the class teacher every now and then to criticize their education. They wrote countless self-reflection essays.

The class teacher at that time was Chen Yu, his mother-in-law.

Qin Moling stopped his thoughts in time, pushed the trunk button, and got out of the car carrying the jianbing.

He had an overnight bag in the trunk, and he took it upstairs with him.

Passing by the nurse station, the nurse saw the food in Qin Moling’s hand and almost thought she had been working the night shift too long and was hallucinating.

After the outstanding-looking man carrying street food passed by, the nurse also decided to eat jianbing for breakfast.

… …

Jian Hang didn’t expect Qin Moling to come back so quickly. The round trip took less than an hour.

Qin Moling set his overnight bag down and put the breakfast on the coffee table.

Jian Hang sat down on the sofa opposite Qin Moling. Grandma had cut the jianbing in the middle and put them into two bags for her convenience.

She took a bite, and the jianbing crepe was still warm.

Looking up, she saw that Qin Moling’s eyes were on the other half of the jianbing on the coffee table.

Jian Hang thought he was hungry too, so she gave him the other half of the crepe, “I can’t finish it. Try it. It tastes good.”

Qin Moling replied, “I’m not hungry.”

He never ate these things.

Just now he was looking at the other half of the crepe, wondering whether the inside was still crispy.

Qin Moling stood up, got his bag and walked to the bathroom, “I’m going to take a shower.”

Jian Hang asked, “Will you sleep here in the companion’s bed?”

“Yeah.”

Qin Moling closed the bathroom door.

After Jian Hang finished eating the jianbing, she took a quilt from the cabinet and placed it on the extra bed.

For other couples, it was normal for the husband to come over to take care of the wife when she was hospitalized. However, for her and Qin Moling, it was still unusual.

Qin Moling came out in his pajamas. She turned off the lights in the ward and sat back on the sofa to read her emails.

Occasionally, she turned her head and glanced at the person on the bed who was sleeping soundly.

It all felt unreal.

Jian Hang had finished replying to all work emails and was reading a project plan by the time Qin Moling woke up. He slept for four hours, and it was already bright outside.

Within two minutes, Jian Hang heard the bathroom door close behind him, and then the sound of running water. Qin Moling was taking a shower. She would be discharged from the hospital today—this meant she could already drink coffee.

She wanted to drink it before, but Qin Moling was sleeping, and brewing coffee might wake him up.

Jian Hang put down the mouse and went to make coffee.

The coffee finished brewing, but the sound of water in the bathroom hadn’t stopped yet.

She planned to wait for Qin Moling to come out from the shower and then brew him a cup to thank him for buying her a midnight snack.

Jian Hang had just picked up the cup and put it to her lips when a call came in on her mobile phone. It was Zhong Yanfei’s assistant, Xiao Zhang.

Out of habit, she put down her coffee cup and went outside the ward to answer the phone.

The contract for Wanyue Group’s project was scheduled to be signed next Monday.

On the phone, Xiao Zhang said that the time for signing the contract had been changed.

This was what Zhong Yanfei intended.

As for the reason for changing the signing time, Xiao Zhang did not say.

Jian Hang asked, “When will the signing be rescheduled to?”

Xiao Zhang could only go around, non-committal, helplessness in her words.

Jian Hang didn’t ask any more questions. There was no need to embarrass a secretary.

At the critical moment of signing the contract, something unexpected happened, and her intuition told her that the cooperation was probably jeopardized.

Fortunately, Xiao Zhang gave her another glimmer of hope and asked her to go to the private room on the second floor of the club to find Zhong Yanfei at nine o’clock tonight.

After ending the call, Jian Hang stood outside, in no hurry to enter the ward.

She went through all the details in her mind but still couldn’t find any link where the problem was. She could only wait until she saw Zhong Yanfei tonight to know how to deal with the situation.

She sent another message to her secretary saying she would go to the company at noon today.

The secretary was worried about her health, [Olive, you can rest for a few more days and come to the company on Monday. You can just go straight to Wanyue to sign the contract.]

Jian Hang: [It’s okay, I will be discharged from the hospital today.]

She didn’t mention that the signing for Wanyue’s contract had been changed as this would only affect her subordinates’ mood.

Jian Hang pushed the door open and entered the ward. Qin Moling had already washed up and changed into a black shirt. This time, the sleeves were not rolled up and the cuffs were on his wrists.

He was standing in front of the tea cabinet drinking coffee.

She paused in her steps.

The coffee in Qin Moling’s hand was her cup. She didn’t have time to drink it, but her lips had already touched the rim of the cup. The side where she originally sipped was the same side where his lips were now touching.

He mistakenly thought it was coffee brewed just for him.
