[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 18.1 — Lie For Her

Jian Hang and Feng Mai both looked over.

Neither of them expected that the person coming in was Qin Moling.

The atmosphere in the ward was instantly awkward. Feng Mai didn’t know how much of what she said Qin Moling heard. Well, if he heard it, then he heard it. Anyway, she was not talking nonsense, and what she said was the truth.

She knew Qin Moling very well, of course, and had to say ‘hello’.

Qin Moling nodded in response.

He took off his suit jacket and didn’t throw it on the bed this time. He hung it directly on the back of the chair. He looked at Jian Hang and said calmly, “I heard from the nurse that you lost your temper with the doctor. Apologize to the doctor tomorrow. It’s my fault you’re not allowed to be discharged from the hospital, it’s not because the doctor doesn’t allow it.”

Jian Hang frowned. When did she lose her temper with the doctor?

In an instant, she realized that he was telling her this specifically to let Feng Mai know that it wasn’t that she was refusing to leave the hospital, nor was she eagerly waiting for him to come visit her.

It was Qin Moling who refused to allow her to leave the hospital.

Feng Mai was surprised. He didn’t expect that it was Qin Moling who arranged for Jian Hang to stay for a few more days. She had known Qin Moling for more than a day or two. She knew him well and no one could make him lie about anything.

It was well known in their circles that he didn’t like Jian Hang, and he had no reason to lie for her.

It seemed that Jian Hang really hadn’t left the hospital because of him.

Qin Moling went to wash his hands and came out with a small towel in his hand, wiping his hands slowly. He looked at Feng Mai and asked, “Are you cooperating with Jian Hang on something?”

What he wanted to ask was how they knew each other.

Feng Mai shook her head, “Jian Hang and I are junior high school classmates and college alumni, but with different majors. We also have a mutual friend, Tan Feng.”

Qin Moling nodded slightly, indicating that he knew.

He continued, “Tan Feng is also an alumnus of your school?”

“No, Jian Hang and Tan Feng are friends. Mr. Tan and I have collaborated on several projects.”

Feng Mai added, “Tan Feng is also Teacher Jian’s student.”

Qin Moling discovered that he knew nothing about Jian Hang, at least, not as much as Feng Mai did.

He suddenly changed the subject, “Aren’t you busy recently?”

Feng Mai was unprepared and told the truth, “I’m a little busy. I just came back from a business trip.”

“Since you’re busy, there’s no need to make a special trip here. Jian Hang is fine. Just call and ask on the phone.”

Qin Moling dried his hands and folded the towel a few times. He turned to Jian Hang and said, “I let you stay a few more days. It’s for you to rest and recuperate your body. But you still want to invite friends to accompany you to relieve your boredom. Do you think Mr. Tan and Feng Mai are like you with nothing to do.”

Jian Hang: “…”

When did she have friends and asked them to come over?

Since she was hospitalized, only Tan Feng from before and now Feng Mai have come to visit her. Strictly speaking, Feng Mai was not even her friend. She came here just to watch the joke Jian Hang has made of herself.

Besides, she wasn’t the one who told them that she was sick and hospitalized.

Although his words were unpleasant and he seemed to be blaming her, if you look closely, he was actually defending her with his words. He was using this to convey that Feng Mai had nothing to do.

How could Feng Mai not hear Qin Moling’s sarcasm? Even if he didn’t like Jian Hang, he would not embarrass his wife in front of outsiders. He still gave Jian Hang the bit of dignity she wanted.

She calmed herself down and took the responsibility of calming the atmosphere, “You have wronged Jian Hang. I heard that she was hospitalized. I didn’t know what the situation was, so I just came and took a look for myself.”

“What do you want to drink?” Qin Moling put down the hand towel and asked Feng Mai.

There was no fourth person in the ward. Qin Moling would be the one to prepare whatever she wanted to drink. In the past, when she went to his office, the secretary would prepare the coffee.

Finally, she would have a chance to drink a cup of coffee that he brewed himself, so Feng Mai said politely, “Give me a cup of coffee, thank you.”

Qin Moling said, “There is no coffee.”

Jian Hang was confused. He had brewed some for himself a few days ago, so there should be some.

Qin Moling took out the tea leaves and the tea cup.

Feng Mai had been standing in front of the tea cabinet and had to move to the bedside.

With Qin Moling there with them, she had to restrain herself when speaking.

“Have you been working on projects all night long recently?” She chatted casually.

Jian Hang nodded.

“You know you can’t ignore your own health.”

Feng Mai put her hands in the pockets of her windbreaker, leaned against the bedside table, turned her body towards Jian Hang, and lowered her voice so that only the two of them could hear, “I heard about Gao Yu’s wife. What are you doing? How many times have you been wronged and made fun of? You can really bear it ah.”

Jian Hang couldn’t remember how many times she had been wrongly accused.

She interned at Yinlin Global Capital Management Company during college and stayed there successfully after graduation. She worked at Yinlin headquarters for five years and returned to China the year before last. Rumors about her extramarital affair with Yinlin’s boss, Pang Linbin, had never stopped.

During her internship at Yinlin, Pang Linbin and his wife divorced, and it was rumored in the company that she was involved in their split.

A few years later, Pang Linbin and his wife remarried. Many people laughed at her privately. The dream of being the wife in a wealthy family was shattered. The mistress was just a mistress. How could the boss take her seriously?

Pang Linbin once said to her: “I don’t think you are busy enough. If you are really busy, you will not have time to listen to what others say.

It meant that she shouldn’t waste time worrying about other people’s gossip and don’t delay making money.

In recent years, there have been many rumors related to her, not only about her and Pang Linbin. When working on projects, she was often pursued by the heads of major clients—many of whom were married men.

She has always been resolute and had no ambiguity with anyone. But she couldn’t stop some people who liked to make up stories on their own time.

Over time, there was a saying in the industry: There are very few men who have worked with Jian Hang who did not find themselves attracted to her.

Later, everyone simply agreed that all the projects she got were obtained by sleeping with clients.

As for her efforts and strength, they couldn’t see it.

Until some time ago, Mrs. Gao made a big fuss in her office, which confirmed the ‘fact’ that she relied on sleeping around to get projects.

Ironically, Feng Mai—who had no dealings with her at all—never believed that she got projects by sleeping around.

“I don’t know what there is about Yinlin that deserves your loyalty and good feelings.” Feng Mai stood up straight.

After the tea was brewed, Qin Moling handed a cup to Feng Mai.

The mobile phone placed on the tea cabinet vibrated. A call came in. Qin Moling picked it up and answered it. After a while, he said to the other end of the phone, “I’m going over now.”

He quickly walked out of the ward with his cell phone in hand.

  1. Ughhhhhh!!!!! I want her reputation to be cleared!

Also, I appreciate that Feng Mai at least trusts MCs morality and self-respect.

Also, this high context indirect method of communication frustrates me. I would 100% interpret it as being wrongly scolded for being lazy, lying in a hospital bed and wasting the time of my “friends” through attention seeking behaviors.

  2. Wow even worse than I thought, just because all these dog men are chasing her everone believes that she’s the fox demon asking for it 🤬

    1. Agreed. And some of these dog mean even let her take the blame.
