[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 13.1 — Concern

Jian Hang was busy. It wasn’t until eleven o’clock that she began to feed hungry. It seemed that half-bowl of congee in the morning was not enough.

She was about to inform her secretary that there was no need to order lunch for her.

Just in time, the secretary came to report that her plane ticket to Manhattan has been booked for next Monday.

Olive, what do you want to eat for lunch? I’ll buy it for you. Do you want congee?”

Jian Hang said, “I’m going to eat out by myself, the walk would do me good.”

It may be that her physical condition has deteriorated, and as a consequence she began to have stomach pains after just drinking a little wine. She wanted to take advantage of her one-hour noon break to go out for a walk.

When it was lunch time, Jian Hang took her coat and went out to eat.

Most of the people in Yinlin were too lazy to move. They ordered takeout, and the front desk was now delivering it to their workstations.

Lin Xiao also used to order delivery for lunch; he usually couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to food during noon breaks. But ever since Little Olive stopped going online at noon, he wasn’t interested in playing games anymore. He was bored and so went out for lunch.

While waiting for the elevator, the two met again.

“Boss, are you going out to eat?”

Jian Hang nodded.

Although Lin Xiao didn’t want to see Jian Hang, he wouldn’t argue with a sick person—so he recommended a restaurant with appropriately light dishes. The only drawback was that it was expensive. According to the restaurant owner, all the ingredients were organic and the vegetables were picked fresh every morning.

But no matter how expensive it was, the she-devil could still afford it.

He said kindly, “It’s in the building next door, on the 28th floor. Aren’t you sick? Their food is very light.”

Lin Xiao did indeed have a refined palate; any restaurant he could recommend would definitely not be bad. Jian Hang thanked him and said, “Then I’ll go and try it.”

“It’s just a bit expensive,” Lin Xiao said this just as the elevator reached the first floor. He wanted to look for food elsewhere today and waved to Jian Hang.

Opening a restaurant in a place where rent was at a premium—the menu would naturally be expensive.

Jian Hang ordered a bowl of congee and two dishes. The money for today’s lunch was enough to buy forty jianbing crepes from her grandparents’ shop.

After ordering food, she checked her phone for messages.

This restaurant was a bit expensive, but business was good, and many people came here to dine.

Zhong Yanyue was also having lunch here today. She was a regular customer, but she rarely came here for lunch on weekdays. This place was a bit far from Lemeng. It took more than an hour to commute back and forth. She usually had a tight schedule for lunch, so she always came here to dine in the evenings.

She came here at noon today because she had an appointment with her sister.

Zhong Yanfei saw her sister staring at a certain place, “Did you see an acquaintance?”

Zhong Yanyue said, “I’m not familiar with her. It’s Jian Hang.”

It was good that Zhong Yanfei didn’t follow her sister’s gaze before—seeing Jian Hang would just affect her appetite.

What she hated the most were women like Jian Hang who relied on men to gain power by any means necessary.

Zhong Yanyue looked away. It was difficult not to hear gossip about Jian Hang recently. It had spread widely in the investment circle. She also saw the video of Mrs. Gao swearing in Yinlin Capital’s office.

If Jian Hang hadn’t intervened in their relationship, Mrs. Gao wouldn’t have gone directly to Yinlin without caring about her own face. It was true that she went there to rip up the mistress, but Mrs. Gao herself has also become a joke.

If she hadn’t been pushed against the wall, who would want to expose their family’s scandal?

She asked her sister, “What’s going on with Jian Hang and Gao Yu?”

Zhong Yanfei glanced at her sister, “What do you think? She’s the third party, it’s not like you don’t know.”

Zhong Yanyue pursed her lips, feeling confused, “If Jian Hang really wanted to have that kind of relationship with Mr. Gao, Qin Moling would not be stupid enough to get a marriage certificate with her.”

Zhong Yanfei picked up some food for her sister, “I asked someone to find out about this. The day Mrs. Gao went to tear Jian Hang apart happened to be the day when Jian Hang and Qin Moling received their certificates. I heard that Mrs. Gao went to Yinlin in the afternoon. How could Qin Moling predict what would happen in the afternoon when they got the marriage certificate in the morning?”

After getting the marriage certificate, even if Qin Moling wanted to divorce, there would be so many things involved that it would be impossible to divorce immediately.

Zhong Yanfei guessed, “Maybe they are already going through the divorce process. Even if they don’t divorce now, it would only be a matter of time.” Not many people were optimistic about Jian Hang and Qin Moling. Now that things have gone wrong this way, Jian Hang’s dream of becoming a daughter-in-law of a wealthy family was probably completely gone.

But Jian Hang deserved it.

Zhong Yanyue nodded slowly. She felt that this logic made sense.

Qin Moling and Jian Hang suddenly got the marriage certificate. Everyone in Le Meng was talking about it. No one had expected that the boss would marry a woman with no family background.

Or that they would meet each other on a blind date.

Speaking of Qin Moling, Zhong Yanfei asked, “I heard that something happened to Yu Ming from Lemeng’s Fourth Division?”

Zhong Yanyue replied, “Yeah, Yu Ming’s work has been transferred to the Deputy GM.”

Zhong Yanfei didn’t originally agree to her sister going to work in Lemeng and work for other people. But her sister insisted on going to Lemeng, and it wasn’t as if they could tie her up.

But after two years, her sister has made a name for herself and climbed to the position of Deputy General Manager of the Second Division on her own merit.

“Now that Yu Ming has resigned, the position of GM of the Fourth Division is vacant. Why don’t you give it a try?”

Zhong Yanyue, who was thinking about Jian Hang, came back to her senses, “Try what?”

Zhong Yanfei: “…”

She said angrily, “Try your thick head.”

Zhong Yanyue laughed and asked, “Jian Hang hasn’t given up on Wanyue’s project yet?”

Zhong Yanfei sneered coldly, “Would she be willing to give up such a big piece of fat? If she did, wouldn’t her hookup with Gao Yu be in vain?”

Zhong Yanfei was now the person in charge of the Wanyue merger and acquisition project. She didn’t want to see Jian Hang, and Jian Hang could only be anxious; she would not give her the chance to fight for it.

Zhong Yanyue said, “Since Jian Hang hasn’t given up yet, does this mean she has other avenues?”

Zhong Yanfei didn’t know if Jian Hang had other ways to get the project. She, by herself, could not decide for Wanyue’s board of directors.

What she could do now was to reach a cooperation agreement with another financial intermediary institution as soon as possible without giving Yinlin Capital and Jian Hang any chance.

Jian Hang wanted to get this project from her—but there was no way she would get it.

Zhong Yanfei got a headache talking about Jian Hang. She rubbed her forehead and got back to the original topic. “Don’t talk about her anymore. Do you know why I asked you to have lunch with me today?”

Zhong Yanyue pretended to be confused, “I don’t know.”

How could she not know? She has already seen through everything1.

Her father had arranged a blind date for her last week, but she did not meet the man, citing a business trip as an excuse

Zhong Yanfei sighed; she cared more about this sister of hers than her parents. Her sister and her ex-boyfriend have broken up for more than two years now, but she still hasn’t gotten over it yet.

She really wanted to open her sister’s brain and see what was worth cherishing about a scumbag.

Zhong Yanfei and her husband were also introduced to each other by their family. They have been married for almost a year now and have a good relationship, so she did not object to the blind date arranged by their father for her sister. They just needed to go have a meal together and get to know each other; they didn’t have to get married after.

“Zhong Yanyue, can you learn from Feng Mai?” Zhong Yanfei had no choice but to call her sister by her full name.

Zhong Yanyue was unimpressed, “Why should I imitate others?”

Feng Mai liked Qin Moling and had been obsessed with him for many years, but Qin Moling had no feelings for her. After Qin Moling and Jian Hang received their marriage certificate, Feng Mai accepted the reality and actively went to meet the potential marriage partner introduced by her family.

In Zhong Yanfei’s eyes, the fact that Feng Mai could to let go at this point made her much better than Zhong Yanyue.

“Older sister, can we not talk about other people?” Zhong Yanyue pointed to the dishes, “Don’t waste such expensive vegetables.”

Zhong Yanfei shut up. If she continued to talk about this, it would only affect their mood while eating.

……

They came to the restaurant earlier than Jian Hang, and Jian Hang’s food had just been served when they finished eating.

Jian Hang didn’t have the habit of looking around while eating, so she didn’t see the two daughters of the Zhong family.

  1. The idiom is ‘the heart is like a mirror’—matters are already clear and well-understood but the person doesn’t reveal things and only keeps it to themself for whatever reason.

  1. Sheesh, so she’s basically suspecting MC of being a mistress still? God, I want the lawsuit results to be out, or for it to be publicly known Mrs. Gao just assumes any pretty woman who attends a business function with her husband must be a cheating mistress.

By this logic, the Zhong sisters are also clearly mistresses and having affairs with all sorts of men all the time. 🙄

  2. Also annoying that she’s playing games with her, allowing a meeting probably to give face to GY but wasting her time by standing her up 😤

  3. So sad that this ZYF is so willing to believe the bad gossip about JH who works so hard to stand on her own merit🥺 Really makes me hate women who make things hard for other women by judging too quickly.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Agreed. I dislike their assumptions and how they’re screwing MC over for something that wasn’t her fault at all. 😡
