[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 4.2 — Valentine’s Day

Qin Moling didn’t know when Qin Xing left. By the time he woke up from his nap, Qin Xing was no longer in the office.

That gift box he left behind was simply too eye-catching, even if one wanted to ignore it.

Qin Moling looked at the gift box again. Grandma knew him well and knew that it was impossible for him to buy a Valentine’s Day gift for Jian Hang, so she did it for him. If it weren’t for this gift, he wouldn’t have remembered to celebrate Valentine’s Day at all. With his current relationship with Jian Hang, it would be impossible for him to celebrate it with her.

After a busy day, when he was about to get off work, Qin Moling sent a message to Jian Hang: [Are you busy tonight?]

Jian Hang: [Not too busy.]

Qin Moling: [They’ve finished decorating the villa. You can go take a look after you get off work tonight. Don’t be in a hurry, it’ll still be there when you get done for the day.] He will also go to the villa and give her the gift by the way.

Jian Hang: [Okay, then I’ll come over when I have time.]

She thought that Qin Moling asked her if she was busy tonight because he wanted to have dinner with her, but it turned out that he asked her to see the wedding villa.

After staring at the chat box for a few seconds, Jian Hang put down her phone.

She didn’t go to the villa and went directly to the apartment where she lived after getting off work.

There was not a lot of work today, and she finished it in just over an hour. Jian Hang logged into the game. It’s Valentine’s Day tonight, and most of the people in her friend list were not online.

Instead of playing games, she bought a sports car skin for her avatar and gave it to herself as a Valentine’s Day gift.

[When are you coming over?] a message from Qin Moling popped up.

Jian Hang quit the game and replied: [?]

Qin Moling was now in the villa. He’d been there from 7pm to almost 9, and he still hasn’t seen her. What did she mean by replying with a question mark?

Jian Hang realized that he thought she would go to the villa tonight, [Sorry, it’s too late today, I can’t go there. I’ll take a look when I have a day off.]

[Are you in the villa? ] she asked again.

Qin Moling: [Just came out of the villa.]

He opened the car door and got into the driver’s seat, glanced at the gift box on the passenger seat, and started the engine.

Jian Hang didn’t think much about it, thinking that he went to the villa just to take a look at the decoration. According to her understanding, Qin Moling wouldn’t have the patience to wait for someone for several hours, and she herself didn’t have the good fortune to be someone he’d be willing to wait for.

She scrolled through her WeChat Moments, and the whole screen was full of people abusing singles. As a married person, she seemed to be no different from being single. Her parents were eating out tonight, and her mother showed off the flowers her father gave her.

Jian Hang gave a like.

She hadn’t had dinner yet so she went to the kitchen to look for some fruit. There was only one apple left, and the fast food in the refrigerator was also gone. She got dressed and went downstairs to buy some.

No matter how cold it was, the weather couldn’t stop the excitement on the street tonight.

There were convenience stores and fruit shops across her apartment building. Jian Hang bought a few kinds of fruits then went to the supermarket next door to buy enough to fill a large bag and walked back with big and small shopping bags in both hands.

A young couple passed her by, the girl holding a bouquet of flowers.

The boy next to her was handsome and his smile was sunny. He held his girlfriend’s hand and very considerately  helped her carry her bag. Jian Hang paused; the boy looked familiar. She suddenly remembered that he was Gao Yu’s son.

She had gone to Gao Yu’s office a few months ago and met the boy there once.

At that time, she heard Gao Yu sigh, saying that his wife deserved all the credit for why their son had grown up well like this.

But after all that, it still couldn’t stop him from wanting a divorce.

The young couple walked over, and Jian Hang looked away.

Her glance lasted a little too long, and the person in the car noticed.

Qin Moling pushed the car door open; Jian Hang was only two or three meters away from the car. She couldn’t believe it when he suddenly appeared in front of her.

Jian Hang glanced at the car. It should be a new car; she had never seen him drive it before.

“Why did you come?”

Qin Moling walked to the passenger side and said, “Grandma bought you a gift, I’m here to deliver it to you.”

He really didn’t prepare the gift, and he was too lazy to lie.

He originally hadn’t planned to send the gift over. Taking the initiative to deliver her a gift on Valentine’s Day—it seemed a little too eager to gain her favor.

Somehow the car ended up heading to her house anyway.

And when he got here, he saw her staring at other people’s flowers for such a long time. He was a man, so it didn’t matter whether he celebrated Valentine’s Day or not. It seemed she was a woman after all, and she cared about these kinds of rituals.

Qin Moling had opened the car door but did not go to get the gift on the passenger side. Instead, he leaned over to pick up the shopping bags in her hand.

“Thank you, it’s not heavy. I can carry it myself,” Jian Hang said.

Qin Moling insisted on carrying it for her, holding two shopping bags in one hand.

Jian Hang wore flat shoes when she went down to go shopping. Right now, she barely reached Qin Moling’s chin. When he didn’t speak, she felt a particularly strong sense of oppression. People at Yinlin Capital said she was strong and aggressive. Standing in front of Qin Moling, she felt like she had met her match.

Qin Moling put his hand on the car door and motioned for her to get the gift.

The gift box was big enough that Jian Hang had to hold it in her arms. Based on her previous unboxing experience, it should be a bag.

Qin Moling locked the car, and the two walked towards her apartment building.

It was inappropriate to say anything, so he remained silent until they reached the elevator.

Jian Hang swiped her card and Qin Moling pressed the floor. He had sent her home before receiving the marriage certificate, and he knew which floor she lived on.

“I’ve seen the furniture in the villa; it’s not bad.” After a pause, Qin Moling added, “You can go and have a look yourself. Change any furniture you don’t like.”

“If you’ve already seen it, then I don’t need to.” Jian Hang trusted Qin Moling’s vision. His clothes were always very much in line with her taste.

Qin Moling looked at her sideways. He understood that she didn’t spend time with him. She was in a mood and didn’t want to go to the villa to look at the furniture.

When she arrived at the door of her house, Jian Hang opened the door and said politely, “Would you like to come in and sit down?”

It would be difficult to find another couple who had already received the marriage certificate and were still strangers like them.

Qin Moling had no intention of going in and only put the two shopping bags inside the door. In any case, he did something wrong by not preparing a gift for her on Valentine’s Day. “We agreed to do a phone call on Wednesdays, but we didn’t discuss what to do when there are holidays in the future.”

Jian Hang stood inside the door and looked at him, “What do you want to do?”

Qin Moling looked at her and said, “I don’t have anyone else to accompany me. If you want to celebrate the holidays in the future, I will spend it with you.”

Jian Hang didn’t know if she was overthinking it, but she somehow felt that his words had another meaning: he was explaining that he didn’t have any other women so she shouldn’t misunderstand that he was with other women tonight.

She said calmly, “It doesn’t matter to me.” She didn’t say that she wanted to celebrate the holidays, and she didn’t say that she didn’t.

“Then let’s settle this and celebrate the holidays normally in the future,” Qin Moling said.

He didn’t spend Valentine’s Day with her today, and it was too late to prepare any gift. Qin Moling only had the keys to the sports car in his hand. This was a new car, and he only drove it for the first time today.

He placed the car keys on top of the gift box in her arms.

For a moment, Jian Hang didn’t understand what he meant.

“I’ll give you the car as a gift. I’m going back now. You go to bed early.” Qin Moling closed the door and left.
