[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 37.2 — Day 12 (Swimming Pool)

Cheng Liu’s mind was full of thoughts on how to coax him, but as soon as he walked into the villa, he turned to search for a big towel.

When the towel was stuffed into her hand, she looked at Ji Chaozhou’s amber eyes—they were beautiful although they were very cold.

“Go take a shower,” Ji Chaozhou glanced at Cheng Liu.

She was not in her right mind; he should have known it earlier.

“Oh, okay,” Cheng Liu nodded immediately. She noticed that he had softened a bit and immediately stretched out her feet to test his bottom line. With a bright smile in her eyes, she said. “Were you worried about me just now? How did you open the door? In fact, the walls in the front and backyard can be removed. I don’t mind.”

“…I mind,” Ji Chaozhou said coldly. This person’s love for the number ‘6’ was very obvious, and he just tried it out casually.

“Oh.” This was a complete rejection, but Cheng Liu didn’t mind even if he did it a few times.

She was wrapped in a towel and stomped upstairs leaving water stains in her wake. “I’m going to take a shower. You wait for me here for a while.”

Ji Chaozhou looked down at the wrist she had just held. There was a circle of water marked around it.

He shouldn’t stay here; he had been meddling just now.

Ji Chaozhou pursed his lips and stood in the brightly lit living room, his long eyelashes drooping. His eyes were indifferent, but in the end he did not move and stayed here.

In less than ten minutes, Cheng Liu finished taking a shower and ran downstairs again.

She changed into clean clothes, but her hair was wet and tied casually into a messy bun, not caring about the water dripping down her neck.

Ji Chaozhou’s eyes glanced at her damp shoulders, but in the end, he said nothing.

Cheng Liu had already come over. “I thought you left.”

Ji Chaozhou didn’t reply and was about to leave.

As soon as his feet moved, Cheng cried out immediately, “I was wrong!”

She quickly poured two glasses of water, handed one to Ji Chaozhou, and then pulled him to sit down, her eyes bright. “Will we be friends from now on?”

Ji Chaozhou didn’t want to drink water, but Cheng Liu’s burning eyes were in front of him and he could only avoid it by drinking water.

“You know, only friends worry about each other.” Cheng Liu announced unilaterally, “That means we are friends!”

Become friends first, then the relationship between boyfriend and girlfriend just would be around the corner.

Young President Cheng was brimming with confidence.

“There is a project in the company that made great progress today, and I am very happy.” Cheng Liu started to ramble again, “I am also very happy to know that my neighbor worried about me tonight. The happiest thing is that I am now friends with my neighbor from now on.”

Ji Chaozhou turned his face away from Cheng Liu’s eyes, twirling the glass of water unconsciously with his fingers. He did not reply to her words.

Cheng Liu called his name seriously, “Ji Chaozhou.”

Ji Chaozhou turned to look at Cheng Liu and saw a bright smile on her face.

She stretched out a hand to him. “My name is Cheng Liu, I am twenty-six this year, my birthday is June 6th, I am 1.76 meters tall, weigh 56 kilograms, and my measurements… “

Seeing that Cheng Liu was about to report her measurements, Ji Chaozhou reached out and slapped her hand away, interrupting her. “What do you want to say?”

“Oh, I just want us to get acquainted better,” Cheng Liu explained.

Young President Cheng firmly refused to admit that she had hidden intentions and had wanted to promote herself.

Ji Chaozhou put down the water glass and stood up to leave. His eyes fell on Cheng Liu’s wet hair, and finally reminded her: “…you should dry your hair.”

“Okay, I’ll wipe it off later.” Cheng Liu also stood up, “I’ll walk you out.”

Ji Chaozhou did not refuse because he knew that refusal was useless. Cheng Liu sometimes seemed to be completely unable to understand what others meant.

Cheng Liu sent Ji Chaozhou to the door, looked at the door lock, and suddenly took his hand, pressing his fingers on the scanner. “Let’s put your fingerprints in.”

With two quick clicks of his thumb, his fingerprints were duly recorded.

Ji Chaozhou finally remembered to react.

At this time, Cheng Liu glanced at the fingerprint lock on the door of Villa No. 5 several times, thinking that, one day, she would also have her fingerprints recorded there.

Ji Chaozhou saw her actions from the corner of his eye and said coldly, “Your ladder is right there on the wall; your fingerprints are not required.”

“So it seems,” Cheng Liu replied.

By the time she realized that Ji Chaozhou was mocking her, he had already gone inside his villa.

Cheng Liu was not angry. He was willing to show his emotions to her, which was actually a good thing!

She also turned around and went back inside, thinking that it was really inconvenient to go around walls and doors, and she didn’t know what he was doing.

If they lived together, she wouldn’t need to go jump into the swimming pool in the middle of the night.

…  …

Ji Chaozhou was lying in the bed and saw the lights shining down on his backyard lawn go out. Thinking of what Cheng Liu said earlier, he felt a little lost.

She seemed to be always in high spirits, untroubled by any disturbance.

Ji Chaozhou’s fingertips slowly touched his sleeve that had gotten wet when Cheng Liu grabbed him. It was almost dry.

He lifted it very slowly and sniffed it gently

He tasted the scent.

There was a slight smell of water there, it was ethereal and seemed to be mixed with other faint scents.

In the darkness, Ji Chaozhou sniffed for a long time, as he finally recognized the scent on his sleeve.

 ——It has her scent1.

Not knowing what to think of, he raised his eyelids, his long eyelashes trembling, and pursed his lips with some restraint.

However, when he retracted his fingertips, he accidentally touched a line of raised ridges under his sleeve, and all these fledgeling emotions suddenly disappeared—leaving only the coldness.

  1. 气息 ‘qi xi’. I have always translated this as ‘scent’ (even in my other works) but it’s also breath and flavor. Something that is poetic and uniquely that person’s.
