[7YrSecretLove] Chapter 27.3 — She’s The One I’ve Liked For Six Years

Once the concert was over, they were free to chat.

Jiang Shenghe sent a message to his mother: [See you at the restaurant, I have something to discuss with my assistant first.]

Just when Liang Zhen was about to ask her son to go to the restaurant with her, a message from her son came in. He really knew how to time things!

She showed the message to Old Chu next to her and said, “This kid is a big deal ah.”

Old Chu replied, “The children are busy, we parents have to understand. Let’s go to the restaurant first.” He hadn’t seen Jiang Shenghe for some years, and it was clear he had really matured. He took a liking to this possible son-in-law at first sight, and he felt he would have been a perfect match for his daughter.

What a pity.

… …

After the person next to him stood up and left, Jiang Shenghe looked at Luo Qi. While listening to the performance, he kept thinking about why she apologized so suddenly—and it took him quite a while to figure it out.

Now, he had a chance to explain, “Chu Lin is the blind date arranged by my mother for me. What were you thinking?”

Luo Qi: “…”

She apologized, “I overthought things.”

Jiang Shenghe gave her back the glasses case, “You can pay more attention to your work and try to figure out what I think from a work standpoint. For other things, you don’t have to spend energy; you won’t guess right anyway.”

Luo Qi promised, “I won’t do it again. I overstepped today.”

Jiang Shenghe said, “It’s alright, it’s not an overstep. Secretary Ju also worked with me for half a year before she figured out my temper and came to know what she should do and what she didn’t need to pay attention to.”

Luo Qi put the glasses in her bag and said, “Thank you for giving me face despite my mistake.”

“If I didn’t give you face, could you have listened to the concert with peace of mind? Then the ticket would be wasted.”

“…”

“You are just like Xiao Jiang and the others. You easily overthink things, and you especially like to make up your mind, thinking that what you made up in your head is reasonable. Before giving me the glasses, you already made up your mind that Chu Lin is the person I like, didn’t you? And you even thought that ‘it’s a pity they’re not together’, right?”

Luo Qi: “…”

She turned her head away from him, annoyed.

Jiang Shenghe smiled, amused at seeing Luo Qi’s pouting expression after being exposed.

When the bodyguard saw this scene, he quickly took out his mobile phone to capture it: the boss’ ticket to the VIP area was not wasted after all.

Then he sent the photo to the boss.

Jiang Shenghe saw the photo, saved it, and replied: [Thank you.]

He looked at Luo Qi again. “If you have any questions in the future, please ask me directly. Don’t make up your own mind. Poor communication will affect work efficiency and also affect the working relationship between us.”

Luo Qi finally looked at him again. His personality and charm was really reflected in the little details.

She replied seriously, “I will.”

Jiang Shenghe stood up and said, “Let’s go have dinner.”

Luo Qi walked behind him. He was a head taller than her, so she always had to look up at him.

Arriving at the hotel and seeing the name of the restaurant, Luo Qi inexplicably felt it was somehow familiar. She seemed to have heard this name before somewhere.

She suddenly remembered. When she returned to Suzhou to book their wedding banquet, Pei Shixiao didn’t have time to come, and when it was time for dinner, he ordered takeout for her: it was from this restaurant.

Pei Shixiao said it was a newly opened restaurant and said he would accompany her to dine here in the future.

Unexpectedly, it was the boss who ended up inviting her to have a meal here.

… …

Liang Zhen did not head inside but waited for her son to arrive.

Jiang Shenghe was sure that his mother would be waiting for him here. He called them over and said, “Let me introduce to you my mother, Professor Liang from the Conservatory of Music.”

In order to finally introduce Luo Qi to his mother, he first introduced Li Rui and Xiao Jiang.

“This is my Special Assistant, Luo Qi, from Suzhou City.”

His mother knew his driver and bodyguard, so there was no need to bother with them.

Liang Zhen: “…”

It wasn’t not a celebrity star—it was Luo Qi!

Liang Zhen kept an elegant smile on her face. She couldn’t understand what her son was doing.

At this moment, Luo Qi felt that the temperament of the boss was more similar to that of his mother, cold and dignified, and there was a sense of distance at first sight.

After politely saying ‘hello’, Liang Zhen said to her son, “Mom has a few words to say to you.”

Li Rui and the others went ahead first. Jiang Shenghe watched Luo Qi enter the restaurant, and only then asked his mother, “What’s the matter?”

Liang Zhen relied on her intuition. He just introduced all those people specifically to introduce Luo Qi to her.

“Although it’s the first time for mom to meet her, the name is familiar. She was your aunt’s former Assistant, wasn’t she? I admit, she is very beautiful and makes people like her at first glance. In the theater earlier, I thought she was some kind of film star. Do you intend to use her as a shield to avoid blind dates?”

“I have no intention of using her as a shield,” Jiang Shenghe replied. “She’s the one I’ve liked for six years. I’ve been looking forward to having the chance to chase her all this time.”

Liang Zhen was stunned.

“Mom, I respect you, so I want you to know who the person I like is, and I wanted to introduce her to you. I also hope that in the future, you can also respect Luo Qi. Because you two are both important to me, and I don’t want to have to make a choice about who I value more.”

  1. I llike Jiang Shenghe’s move here. Straightforward, it’s the best thing to make everything clear and preventing unnecessary misunderstanding any further.

  2. The communication in this chapter is so top tier.

  3. In case you aren’t sure, Mom, you would lose if I had to make a choice.

  4. I didn’t expect Luo Qi’s misunderstanding about his unrequited love for Chu Lin to be resolved so easily, but I’m glad he was also able to clarify for her to not make assumptions about his personal life and ask when appropriate. By being direct about it, Jiang Shenghe can more easily break the awkward barrier between them and possibly draw their relationship closer with their future interactions.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
