[7YrSecretLove] Chapter 27.1 — She’s The One I’ve Liked For Six Years

In the afternoon of the next day, Jiang Shenghe received the piano concert tickets from his mother. There were six tickets in total, all for the VIP seats.

He gave the tickets to Xiao Jiang and let them choose their seats as they pleased.

Xiao Jiang gave one to Li Rui first, and Li Rui asked to sit in the row behind the boss. Then Xiao Jiang knocked on Luo Qi’s door.

“Sister Luo, get your ticket.”

Luo Qi was on the phone with her cousin. She didn’t hang up the call and simply came over to open the door. The first thing she said was, “Which row will Chief Jiang sit in?”

Xiao Jiang waved the tickets in his hand. “I gave one to Manager Li, the others are here. Chief Jiang let us choose first.”

“Which one will you choose? I’ll sit next to you,” Luo Qi said.

Xiao Jiang: “…”

Wasn’t this treating the boss like a scourge? Well, they could all avoid him, but Luo Qi  could not be allowed to.

He took one randomly, and Luo Qi took the one next to his seat number.

Xiao Jiang thought to himself, ‘It’s useless even if you sit next to me. I’m seated to your right but the seat to your left is still empty.’

Luo Qi closed the door and continued talking to her cousin, “The boss invited us to a concert and someone just came over to deliver the tickets.”

Luo Yuli asked, “Where is the concert?”

“It’s at Suzhou Grand Theatre—Chu Lin’s piano concert. Have you heard of it?”

“She’s in Suzhou City?”

“Yeah. The first stop is Suzhou City,” Luo Qi replied. “I didn’t really pay attention to it before.”

She looked at the performance time on the ticket and said, “I heard from Yubao that a friend of Eldest Aunt introduced you to your girlfriend. Do you want to go with your girlfriend to listen to it? If you want to go, I will find someone to buy tickets for you.”

There was no response.

Luo Qi held the phone in front of her eyes and looked at it. The call was still in progress. “Older brother?”

After two seconds, she heard Luo Yuli say, “I am in the elevator, the signal is not working properly, can you hear me now?”

“I can hear you.” Luo Qi was confused. He said that he left the company just now, so why did he get back into the elevator again? Doubts flashed but flew away fast, and she asked her cousin again, “Do you want to go and listen?”

This was a great opportunity to develop a relationship with his girlfriend.

“I have a party tonight, so I can’t go. I’ll listen to it another time when I have the chance.”

“That’s okay then.” Before Luo Qi ended the call, she asked her cousin to keep an eye on her father more often and urge him not to work too hard.

After hanging up the phone, Luo Qi unbuttoned her suit and poured a glass of warm water to drink before changing clothes. She followed Li Rui and socialized outside all day, and now her mouth was dry from talking. Dongbo Medical Technology will not consider selling its shares: it has now been confirmed.

As an exit strategy, the price offered by Yuanwei was just right, and it was also a cash acquisition. Pei Shixiao would have made hundreds of millions by agreeing to the sale. They didn’t know why he passed up this opportunity.

The acquisition plan failed, and it seemed that Yuanwei will just proceed with having one more competitor.

… …

At half past five in the afternoon, they set off to the theater as a group.

Luo Qi wore a dress and a coat. For the first time, more than a month after the breakup, she was in the mood to go out and relax.

Jiang Shenghe was in his car downstairs. He had only been waiting half a minute before Luo Qi came out from the hotel. The long autumn coat on her looked familiar, he has seen her wear this everyday.

Jiang Shenghe turned on the screen of his mobile phone and saw that she was wearing this same coat in the photo. She obviously didn’t buy too many new clothes because she was been wearing the same thing from six years ago.

Luo Qi got into the car and greeted the boss as usual—and the boss ignored her as always. There were several magazines on the arm console. She took one and read it, passing the silent time on the road.

Jiang Shenghe leaned his chin on his hand and looked out the window on his side. Every time he came to Suzhou, his activities were limited to the area around the school where Lu Baisheng taught, and he never once went near the Grand Theater.

His phone vibrated with messages, one after another, all from his mother.

Jiang Shenghe clicked on his phone, and Luo Qi inadvertently turned her head. When she glanced at the screen, she saw the iconic scene of Times Square again.

The screen flashed by, the boss clicked on WeChat, and she averted her eyes.

Liang Zhen asked her son: [“Are you sure all six of you will come?”]

[The best seats in the front row will be empty if you don’t come.]

Jiang Shenghe: [Everyone is already on the way.]

Liang Zhen felt reassured after receiving this message from her son. She raised her head and said to Old Chu, “Don’t worry about it.”

Old Chu smiled bitterly, “You say that, but we are already this old and we still have to come to Suzhou to worry about the feelings of our two children. And there’s a chance they still won’t appreciate it.”

Liang Zhen was feeling helpless as well, “It has been smooth sailing since childhood, and I didn’t have to worry about him at all, but in the end, his relationship ended up being a hurdle for him that he couldn’t surpass.”

Old Chu could only sigh.

“Why did Chu Lin choose Suzhou City as her first stop?” Liang Zhen asked.

“I don’t know. I don’t dare to ask. If I ask, it would only bother her,” Old Chu shook his head. His daughter was putting on makeup backstage, so he poured a glass of warm water and sent it over to her.

… …

The stylist was putting makeup on Chu Lin, and Chu Lin herself was looking at her reflection in the mirror. Her heart was uneasy, wondering if that person even knew that she had come to Suzhou, whether he knew that Suzhou was her first stop.

She was taken out of her reverie when her father put the water glass on the dressing table.

His daughter was about to perform on stage, and Old Chu didn’t dare to say anything more, “Drink some water.”

Chu Lin drank water absentmindedly, her thoughts already drifting away again. If he knew that she was holding a concert in Suzhou City, would he come?

  1. Luo YYuli is definitely Chu Li’s unrequited love 😉. I don’t know…people tend to criticise her strange feeling towards Jiang Shenghe but one should not forget their circumstance

Jiang Shenghe is her boss! And she’s a decent lady with a proper upbringing and a professional at that. She’s not the kind like Cui Ping whose life goal is to climb a social ladder. We should remember that it’s a normal thing that boss-subordinate relationship in the same office is in fact an inappropriate things and can even be considered illegal sometimes.

Luo Qi’s goal in life is to get a good career and a good salary to pay off the debt ASAP, so she really doesn’t need to put her career on the risk by jeopardising her relationship with a boss, by creating a scandal.

A rumour is very easy spread and her position as a subordinate is always at disadvantage in this case. If there’s any scandal with the boss, she would be the one getting laid off..just like Cui Ping, and that’s regardless if she’s at fault or not. That’s the regular practice. So her attitude is in fact the most logical thing ever. Because she never knew that she’s the one her boss had been pining his heart for. And she doesn’t know either that all relatives and friends of him are supportive of them being together.

Frankly speaking…the more illogical things are those in other novel where the staffs are infatuated with their boss, not knowing their place and even have the cheek to hate any female close to their boss and scheming against her. Luo Qi’s attitude is the most reasonable behaviour of a professional career woman, regardless how nice and generous the boss..because boss is still boss. It’s because she had no hidden fantasy about her boss.

  2. Ooh, another pair pops up! Will both parents see their children end up with their unrequited/past loves?

  3. Although I understand Luo Qi still feels uncomfortable around Jiang Shenghe, it’s getting a bit annoying and somewhat unreasonable that she seems almost repulsed just by having to be near him outside of work events. He’s never treated her harshly and has never given the impression that he’s very difficult to get along with, so I really don’t understand her aversion to him being so strong. Hopefully someone will bring it up to her so that she’ll think back on their interactions to see that her reactions are somewhat unwarranted and unnecessary to such a degree.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀

I agree! They are the best and deserve the best!

    2. Luo Yuli is definitely her unrequited love! I wonder what happened between them? Maybe he feels he isn’t worthy of her or there’s some misunderstanding between them? Either way, hopefully it’ll get resolved between them and they can get together soon.
