[7YrSecretLove] Chapter 24.2 — Unmatched Partiality

Using the newly assigned car, Luo Qi went to the hospital to visit Jiang Yueru after getting off work. She diligently reported on the recent developments at work so that Jiang Yueru didn’t have to worry.

Jiang Yueru was actually not worried at all. Luo Qi was next to her nephew and had no chance to think about her broken engagement. She knew her nephew well—how could he give Luo Qi a chance to dwell on the past?

“I will be discharged from the hospital soon. I told you not to come. Can’t you listen to me for a moment?”

“I’m fine to visit, I don’t have to work overtime this week.”

Jiang Yueru peeled oranges and gave them to Luo Qi to eat. She put the orange peel on the tip of her nose and smelled it to cover up the smell of disinfectant in the room.

Luo Qi ate the orange, tasting the sweet and the sour, “Uncle Fan was transferred along with my car, do you know?”

“Old Fan called and told me.” Jiang Yueru did ask her nephew to find another position for Old Fan. The main purpose was to find a boss who was easy to get along with so he could work smoothly until retirement.

Unexpectedly, her nephew directly arranged for Old Fan to drive for Luo Qi. For Old Fan, there was no one he could get along with better than Luo Qi. After all, they had known each other for five or six years and had been quite happy working together before.

Now, she couldn’t help but suspect that her nephew, under the guise of helping her, was actually taking the opportunity to arrange for a full-time driver for Luo Qi.

“Director Jiang, when will you go abroad to recuperate?”

“Leaving this week.”

“So fast?”

“My unfilial son will arrive tomorrow and has asked me to go back with him.”

It was so sudden; Luo Qi was not mentally prepared at all. She had thought Jiang Yueru wouldn’t have to leave until after the Spring Festival at the earliest.

Once she left for abroad, Luo Qi didn’t know when she would come back again. Even if Jiang Yueru came back, if Luo Qi happened to be on a business trip herself, she may not have a chance to see her.

“It’s not like I won’t ever come back. There will be more opportunities to meet each other in the future.”

She had to sit at the head table during the wedding after all.

… …

Skipping over sad topics, Luo Qi spent the rest of the visit talking about the progress of Yuanwei Medical’s acquisition project, and it was already dark when she left the hospital.

Luo Yu had sent her a message half an hour ago: [Sister, I’m at your house. I have the day off tomorrow, so I won’t leave tonight. I’ll occupy your bed and kick you out (naughty smile)]

[By the way, sister, you don’t need to buy groceries or snacks, I’ve prepared them all.]

Luo Yu had taken some photos and sent them to her. The small coffee table was filled with snacks and fruits.

When Luo Qi arrived home, Luo Yu was tinkering with things on the balcony, and the small living room was a mess.

“Ah? What are you doing? When did you become such a jerk?”

Luo Yu: “…”

She laughed so much that she had to squat down on the floor and said, “You are the jerk.”

Luo Qi put down her bag and asked, “Why did you start tearing down the house?”

As she approached the balcony, she saw that Luo Yu was building a plastic shed.

Luo Yu got up from where she fell laughing and continued the work at hand, “I bought plastic sheets online. The cold air is coming soon and your poor cucumbers will freeze to death. I will build a small shed for them.”

Her cousin’s love was gone, her cucumbers could not be allowed to die!

Luo Qi leaned over and hugged her cousin hard, “Thank you, Yubao.”

“Oof, not so tight. Let go, I’m working.”

Luo Qi also rolled up her sleeves to match her cousin.

There were diagrams on how to build a shed on the chair next to them, hand-drawn by Lou Xin, breaking down the process step by step.

However, the steps on the diagram may have seemed simple, but it was not so easy when actually doing it. It took the two of them three and a half hours to build a plastic shed for the cucumbers.

Luo Yu almost collapsed from exhaustion and couldn’t get up from where she sat, plopped down on the ground.

She took the mobile phone from its stand and saved the very important video recording of them building the shed.

Luo Qi tidied up the living room, “I’ll cook while you wash your hands and wait for dinner.”

Luo Yu took a few more pictures of the plastic shed that was successfully set up and sent it to Luo Xin: [The video file is too big, I will show it to you when I get home. How about it? Its not bad, right? Now I realize that you are not so mean-spirited after all (dog head)]

Luo Xin was busy and didn’t reply immediately.

Being idle and bored, Luo Yu acted rudely for the third time and opened Cui Peng’s circle of friends.

Surprisingly, Cui Peng has become more honest in the past few days. She has not posted a single message on Moments, which was really quite unlike for her.

It was now 9:45 pm, and Cui Peng was still working overtime at the company, busy turning over the projects she had been handling.

Pei Shixiao’s mother had given that ultimatum, and Pei Shixiao’s secretary was also present at the time. Cui Peng would only lose face if she lingered in this place.

To advance by retreating, she must also resign. As for where she would go after resigning, she had not thought about it for the time being. She would give herself a holiday and then sort out the affairs between her and Pei Shixiao.

Two days had already passed, and she still hasn’t seen Pei Shixiao. He didn’t come to the company. She heard from other executives that he went abroad directly after returning from Beijing.

She deleted his WeChat account and he has not contacted her through other means.

There was one time in early September when he planned to go to California on a business trip but didn’t intend to take her with him. She was angry and refused to answer his calls or messages. On the third day, he asked his secretary to inform her that she was going to California with him after all.

This time, she didn’t know how long it would take for him to break.

  1. Cuipeng is really delusional…

  2. If it took me about three and half hours to build a cucumber shed, I think I would just give up, lol. It’s nice that Luo Qi has something to occupy her thoughts while she’s at home all alone, though. As for Pei Shixiao, every time Cui Peng mentions their interactions with each other, I just get disgusted with him more and more. At this point, I almost don’t blame Cui Peng for enticing him and succeeding because he deserves it for his stupidity and conceitedness.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
