[7YrSecretLove] Chapter 23.2 — Hurry To Catch Up With Him

After Jiang Shenghe looked at the photos, he wanted to ask her if she had any videos. He turned his head only to see that she was deleting the photos and clearing the photos and videos taken in the afternoon from her album…

Luo Qi didn’t notice that her boss was looking at her. If there were photos of the boss of the opposite sex on her personal phone, wouldn’t it be odd? So after sending copies to Xiao Jiang, she deleted them all.

Jiang Shenghe calmed down for a few seconds and understood her deletion. Their boss-subordinate relationship determined that she would not keep his photos on her phone.

He created a new photo album in his phone and named it: Taken (Drawn) By Her

He moved the photos that Luo Qi sent just now, along with the photo of the cartoon drawing of ‘Death Gaze from the Boss’ that she had drawn, into the newly created album.

Just as he finished saving the photos, the car pulled into the driveway of Yuanwei Tower.

Jiang Shenghe originally had no intention of getting out of the car; several people attending the dinner tonight had urged him to go over early to play cards. But as he watched Luo Qi get out of the car, he caught a glimpse of a familiar figure coming out of Yuanwei Tower.

Without thinking, he picked up his suit and pushed the car door open.

… …

Pei Shixiao had not returned to Shanghai yet; he had a train ticket booked for that evening. On his way to the train station, he passed by Yuanwei Tower. He bought a bouquet of flowers for Luo Qi and had just left it with the front desk.

Even he himself did not expect to meet Luo Qi at the entrance of the building.

Seeing her coming in with Jiang Shenghe, inexplicably, he felt jealousy bubbling up in his heart.

Now he saw everyone as a love rival, including the third son of the Jiang family.

Jiang Shenghe knew who he was, and Pei Shixiao also knew him, but the two had never been formally introduced to each other so there was no need to say ‘hello’.

Luo Qi turned to look at Jiang Shenghe, now fully embarrassed. “Chief Jiang, please go upstairs first. I’ll handle some personal matters. I will follow soon.”

Jiang Shenghe could only nod. Even if they were already broken up, he still had no position to say anything at this time.

He passed by Pei Shixiao without sparing him a glance.

Pei Shixiao was afraid that she would misunderstand, so he hurriedly explained, “I was just passing by, I didn’t come here specifically to bother you.

“Go on up, don’t delay your work.” He didn’t plan to stay long, worried that her words would only hurt his heart. He began walking away.

As he passed her, Luo Qi said, “This is the last time. If there is a next time, I won’t leave even the last bit of dignity between us.”

Pei Shixiao’s voice was hoarse, “Okay, I promise you, I won’t come to you again.” He looked at her. “I’ll wait for your forgiveness, I’ll wait as long as you want.”

Half a year or a year later, she might not hate him so much at that time.

“I’m leaving for an extended business trip after this, to the state where your college alma mater is.”

Before he even finished speaking, Luo Qi had already walked away.

Luo Qi hurried after Jiang Shenghe. In truth, Jiang Shenghe’s steps were not that fast. After entering the building, she took three steps for two to catch up with him.

Jiang Shenghe felt the tension in him loosen now that Luo Qi was again by his side. He glanced at her, “Done so fast?”

Luo Qi held her breath, “Yes.”

When Pei Shixiao came to the company, it would naturally affect her mood to some extent and make her unable to concentrate at work, which was a taboo of her boss.

Xiao Jiang specifically told her that one of the boss’ taboos was when someone failed to distinguish between public and private affairs; failure to handle their personal affairs well would bring trouble to the company.

She had been walking in a hurry just now, so she consciously paced her breathing, “It has been taken care of. I’m sorry, Chief Jiang. This kind of thing will not happen again during working hours in the future.”

Jiang Shenghe said in the same tone as he would use to other subordinates, “It’s nothing.”

Luo Qi couldn’t hear any emotion or anger in the boss’s voice. Anyway, she wouldn’t let the same happen again in the future.

The front desk greeted Jiang Shenghe and called out to her warmly, “Assistant Luo, I have flowers left for you.”

It was a bouquet of pink roses.

Luo Qi knew without counting that there were 28 roses in the bouquet. The number of roses Pei Shixiao gave her was her age at that time.

He once said that he would one day send her 99 flowers.

Jiang Shenghe glanced at the bouquet of flowers and walked to the elevator.

Luo Qi, of course, had no intention of accepting this, so she could only ask the front desk, “Please help me handle it, thank you. No matter who sends flowers for me in the future, you can help me refuse them directly.”

There was also a card that came with the bouquet of flowers. On it was written a simple blessing:

Qi,

I heard that you have been transferred. I hope everything is going well in your new position.

But  Luo Qi didn’t accept the flowers and never knew what was written on the card.

… …

Outside the building, Pei Shixiao got in the car and took another look at the Yuanwei Tower.

[Where are you? Your mother is looking for me.]

Cui Peng had sent him a message.

Pei Shixiao was distracted and didn’t even notice that his phone was vibrating.

Seventh Year of My Secret Love for You translated by Maela @ whitemoonlighttranslations.com

T/N: I want Pei Shixiao out of this story as much as the next girl, but I don’t understand his plan on how to win Luo Qi back. Does he think she won’t use the half year/year he’s gone to completely cut him out of her heart? Even Jiang Shenghe understands that he needs to get Pei Shixiao out of the way while Luo Qi is still vulnerable. If her emotions are no longer in flux, Pei Shixiao would have ZERO chance. Grovel right now. Explain yourself. Console her because she’s grieving, idiot. Let her whack you with the stupid flowers you sent. Stand there and accept her very justified wrath (but not at work cause Luo Qi might just stab him then). Does he think popping up a year later, flowers in hand, and saying ‘Qi, let’s start over’ would somehow work better?? She does all the work by herself to get out of the pit and he’ll come waltzing in going ‘ah you must have calmed down and forgiven me already, right?’ 🙄

Also, now he gets jealous. Idiot.

Chapter 23.3 — Hurry to Catch Up With Him

  1. Pei SX is really an idiot. The lowest EQ ever. Anything can happen in 6 months dude. What makes you think that someone would just stand there and waiting until you turn back and call again, huh? Do you think you’re an emperor and she’s a lady in waiting that has to be available at your back and call? And Cuipeng is also delusional…even a capable young lady of a former notable household is considered not good enough for Pei family, what makes her thing a scheming mistress like her would be accepted to go through their door? A mistress is the most taboo and hated in such a household.

  2. Pei Shixiao simply doesn’t see Luo Qi as an equal. Oh, she is pissed of, yeah, she has a reason but hell, I’m Pei Shixiao, good looking, wealthy, has been with her for six years, even when noone else would, so she will eventually come back when her anger subsidized. Why would she do something else?

I can’t wait to see when reality hits him.

Also agree with all of the comments.

  3. I’m just surprised that Pei Shixiao still thinks they’ll get together in the end after all that happened and what he’s done to her. He should put himself in her shoes—how would he feel if she cheated on him? Would he able to just forgive her as if nothing had happened and not feel anything about the betrayal? After all this time, he still only cares about himself and hasn’t bothered to actually consider her feelings.

I completely agree with the translator, too! If he truly loved her, then he wouldn’t be able to be so calm when she broke off the wedding and wait for her to forgive him before doing anything he could to get her love back before it’s too late. On the same note, though, he probably understands her as someone who doesn’t like to be bothered and needs time to cool off, but either way, he’s going about it all wrong and clearly doesn’t understand her as much as he would like to believe.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀

    1. I don’t recall where I read this, but supposedly men and women view types of cheating differently. This is of course generalized and not how all people feel.

This theory says that emotional cheating is more serious to women, whereas men tend to be more devastated by physical cheating. I think it has to do with the idea that women see that men could have sex but not be emotionally engaged, so it “means less” to the man (like scratching an itch). And men see that women could have emotional attachments but if they don’t actually have sex with that person, the attachment has not yet grown that serious. So if that were applied here, it would explain why Pei sees the emotional cheating as less serious.

I agree with the TL note. This plan is not going to win her back. Waiting for someone to stop being angry only works if they care enough about the relationship to want to repair it after that time. This is no longer true for him.

Honestly, I don’t think Pei Shixiao actually thinks he did anything really wrong. He knows she’s mad at him but it kind of seems like he doesn’t really understand the why of it. All of his apologies and regret are about what affect this has had on HIM, not what it did to HER.

It’s probably also a pattern for them. She is upset about something, he makes pretty apologies, she accepts, they move on. He doesn’t really see why this situation should be any different. He didn’t MEAN to cheat, it just sort of happened, and besides, was it REALLY cheating, nothing actually happened. 🙄🤷🏻‍♀️

Also, I have noticed in Chinese novels (in translation) that they often talk about half a month like it is FOREVER instead of two weeks, and half a year as if it is no time at all. My American brain breaks.

Kissing is cheating. He kissed her and basically was in a relationship with that girl when he was with her. You dont need to have sex to cheat. Hopefully cheating never happens to u else you’ll just let it go and be cheated on again and again.

I don’t think OP was defending Pei Shixiao—they were explaining why Pei Shixiao isn’t doing more to apologize to Luo Qi and get her back. Because he thinks he really didn’t do anything wrong and that Luo Qi’s anger will fade after a while.

        1. Exactly.🙂

    2. Thisis iis infact also related to how LQ always behaved with him previously. She hqs always been overly virtuous, nwver ask anything never even complain, never request any explanation and always forgive without even asked properly…I’m not victim blaming but this kind of manner is really inducing others to think that she’s kind of push over and taking her for granted. No, one should know to compromise and be reasonable but a certain portion of willfulness is still necessary too. You have to let yoru partner know early when you’re annoyed. When it’s too much, when you’re overwhelmed so so that they learn to cherish you..to appreciate you.

That’s why Pei takes her for granted too…
