[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 8.2 — Day 2 (you smell really good)

Cheng Liu went to the Ranshan counter and told the counter lady, “I want a bottle of Ranshan Midu.”

“Okay, wait a moment, I’ll get you a bottle of Midu right away.” The counter lady immediately turned around and brought out a bottle of perfume.

“The brand of Ranshan has been very popular in the past two years, and my wife likes their perfume.” Director Li had come over and now asked in surprise, “You are buying this as a gift?”

He has known Young President Cheng for several years now, and this person didn’t dress up at all, let alone wear perfume.

“I’ll use it myself.” After paying for it, Cheng Liu opened the perfume bottle and spritzed it on herself twice.

Director Li couldn’t help but go, “Huh?”

Cheng Liu closed the cap of the perfume and put it back in the bag. She then told Director Li in a grand manner, “My boyfriend also likes Midu, so I bought it to try.”

Director Li was truly shocked this time. “You actually have a boyfriend?”

For an unromantic young woman like Cheng Liu who has been a workaholic for thousands of years, he often lamented to his wife when at home that Young President Cheng would be single for the rest of her life.

Cheng Liu smiled slightly. “Of course. And my boyfriend is also very good-looking.”

No wonder these middle-aged men always talk to her about their wives. Cheng Liu now understood. On the surface, it’s just a kind of small talk, but in fact it felt really good to show off!

Director Li was still in shock; Young President Cheng’s iron tree was actually blooming—what a miracle ah.

He immediately asked with interest, “Do you have any photos? Let me see.”

One must know that Director Li has always been proud of his wife, and every time he asked Cheng Liu to have dinner, there was no other purpose—he just wanted to show off his wife.

Cheng Liu didn’t have any photos of her boyfriend in her phone. So she clicked on her boyfriend’s Moments to find some photos, but found that his Moments was empty—all photos seemed to have been deleted.

She coughed and said, “…in another cell phone.”

Director Li was dubious. “Really?”

The two got back on the elevator and soon were sitting down in the restaurant. Director Li took advantage of the situation and said, “You should take more photos of your boyfriend. They are all memories of youth. Speaking of which, my wife went to a film festival as a judge some time ago. The photos are beautiful.”

While talking, he took out his mobile phone and showed Cheng Liu the photos.

What’s so good about other people’s wives ah, Cheng Liu just wanted to see more of her boyfriend, so she just said something perfunctory, and then tried to find out information about her boyfriend’s rival—after all, Director Li might know some inside information through his wife. “Director Li, do you know Yun Fei?”

“Yun Fei, I do know her.” Having successfully shown off, Director Li took back his phone filled with contentment. “What are you asking about her for? Do you want her to be your spokesperson?”

“Just asking casually.”

“She’s a female celebrity who is very much in the limelight right now.” Director Li pouted unhappily, “In the beginning, she made her debut under the guise of being similar to my wife.”

Director Li’s wife was a well-known, glamorous star. She has been in the entertainment industry for more than 20 years, and now she has almost retreated behind the scenes.

Cheng Liu recalled the Yun Fei she met today—she did look a bit like Director Li’s wife, but in comparison, she lacked a mature style.

“Let’s not mention her anymore. Director Li, how did you catch up with your wife back then?” Cheng Liu remembered that Director Li had boasted in front of her before, how he defeated countless suitors, and stood out from among them, before he was finally favored by his wife.

As soon as this was mentioned, Director Li suddenly became excited. A man in his forties, with a youthful radiance on his face, cleared his throat and said to Cheng Liu seriously, “People who are successful in their careers like us, when you pursue, you have to keep something in mind when dealing with the other party.”

“Tell me,” Cheng Liu immediately sat up straight and listened attentively.

“Lower your head, if you must, lower and lower it again!” Director Li placed both hands on the table, “At this time we must forget our identities, we must know that good-looking people are arrogant, unlike us…”

Director Li looked at Cheng Liu’s face, and suddenly he couldn’t say it; the phrase ‘average-looking’ got stuck in his mouth.

“Anyway, in everything, I will do what my wife says, and I will never refute it.” Director Li said in a tone of someone who has experienced it, “We just need to follow quietly and do it.”

Cheng Liu was thoughtful.

By the time the two of them finished their meal, it was already eight o’clock in the evening.

Before leaving, Director Li held Cheng Liu’s hand, and he said with emotion, “Young President Cheng, I didn’t expect that we would have more and more common topics to discuss. Next time, I will definitely ask you out again.”

Cheng Liu looked like she had truly learned profound things, “Okay, Director Li, I will definitely go when you invite me.”

The look of understanding and sympathy between the two stunned He Bai, who had come to pick up Cheng Liu.

……

“Mr. Li also gave you perfume?” He Bai asked casually while driving Cheng Liu back to the company to pick up her car.

“I bought it myself.” Cheng Liu raised her hand to smell her wrist, and couldn’t help frown. She felt that the smell was different from that of her boyfriend.

He Bai turned his head to the back of the car and looked at the perfume bag on her lap. “Why do you suddenly want to buy perfume?”

“My boyfriend uses this and it smells good. I just wanted to try it.” Cheng Liu took out the perfume from the bag and took a closer look. The name was correct so she must have bought the right one.

He Bai paused for a moment while holding the steering wheel, and then turned to face the road again as if nothing had happened. “This perfume is too cold, so it doesn’t suit you.”

“I think it’s okay.” Cheng Liu thought to ask her boyfriend later why the smell of her spray was different from his.

The car suddenly fell silent, and Cheng Liu, who was sitting in the back seat, didn’t notice anything.

Ten minutes later, the two arrived at Shenyin’s headquarters and Cheng Liu got down. He Bai pressed the car window and asked Cheng Liu who was not walking towards the company doors but to the carpark, “Are you not going to the company?”

“No, you should go home earlier and rest.” Cheng Liu walked towards her car.

She still had to pick up her boyfriend.

At nine o’clock, Cheng Liu arrived outside the Ranshan R&D Building on time.

Ji Chaozhou in the R&D room had taken off his coat, and now he was wearing a long white coat and protective glasses. He squeezed the liquid from a dropper onto the scent paper, lowered his head and sniffed gently.

It doesn’t smell right.

Ji Chaozhou put down the scent paper and was about to try another kind of original solution, when he suddenly remembered something, walked to the glass window on the second floor, and looked down.

Sure enough, he saw the familiar headlights.

Number Six had come to fetch him.

One response to “[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 8.2 — Day 2 (you smell really good)”

  1. I like Director Li, too! Unfortunately his advice to her isn’t exactly helping in the way he imagines, lol.

Oh, no! Does He Bai actually like Cheng Liu? It’s so sad because she’ll never pick up on these things unless he tells her outright. I’m guessing he’s not ugly or anything, so if he had asked her out, she might have agreed, especially since he understands her on both a personal and work level. Her initial requirements aren’t that high after all—only appearance, lol.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
