[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 4.2 — Day 1 (isn’t my boyfriend’s name ‘Wang Haiyang’?)

After they finished their meal, Cheng Liu went to pay the bill. Ji Chaozhou didn’t move— the money was sure to be reimbursed by Ji Mushan.

After swiping the card, Cheng Liu opened the door for her boyfriend again and sent him home.

Although her boyfriend hardly talked to her today, Cheng Liu felt pretty good about herself—at least her boyfriend still cared about her.

“Go to bed early.”

They have arrived at the Wenxing Community, and Cheng Liu hurriedly said this to her boyfriend who was about to open the door and walk out.

Ji Chaozhou held the door handle in his hand, tilted his head almost imperceptibly, then opened the door and left straight away.

Wenxing Community was an old property with only six floors at the highest. The surrounding area was generally bustling with life, but now it was approaching 11 pm, and many lights had already been turned off.

Cheng Liu turned the car around but did not leave immediately, looking up at the lights on the second floor.

More than two hours earlier, the moment her boyfriend stood by the window and looked down at her coldly, for some reason, Cheng Liu’s heart beat extremely fast.

Looking back now, Cheng Liu felt that she might, probably, be a bit abnormal.

She seems to like her boyfriend’s cold and indifferent appearance.

Cheng Liu disdained herself in her heart for a moment before driving back.

…  …

Quite different from where her boyfriend lived, Cheng Liu’s house was right in the center of City S. Even in the middle of the night, the place was brightly lit and the buildings towered over the city.

As soon as Cheng Liu walked into the lobby, the security guard immediately greeted her.

She lived on the twenty-sixth floor.

Her name was pronounced the same as the number six, and her birthday was on June 6th, and so, Cheng Liu liked all things related to six.

Even her WeChat name was directly called ‘No. 6’. As for the WeChat profile picture, the gun was placed to look like the number 6, and she used it casually.

As for the twenty-sixth floor, as soon as the elevator opened, this entire floor belonged to Cheng Liu.

Walking down the corridor, she pressed her fingerprints, and when the door opened, she saw that the light in the living room was on.

Cheng Liu was not surprised. She changed into her slippers and walked towards the living room.

A familiar man leaned back on the sofa, turned his head towards her and said with a smile, “I thought maybe you wouldn’t be coming back tonight.”

He was wearing a pair of silver-rimmed glasses and a high-end royal blue suit. He had a  tall and straight figure, and looked quite handsome with a refined air.

It must be said that his smiling countenance attracted the attention of many women outside.

But Cheng Liu didn’t react too much when she saw him. She has long been used to how her chief assistant looked, and she had just separated from her boyfriend a few minutes ago.

Which man can look good in front of her boyfriend?

Cheng Liu walked over, sat down on another sofa, and reached out to take the proposal on the coffee table. “Did they send a new one?”

Seeing that Cheng Liu directly talked about business, He Bai followed suit, “I took a look, and it’s better than the previous plan.”

“Good,” Cheng Liu nodded in response. She entered the working state quickly, and lowered her head to read through the plan.

He Bai pulled the laptop in front of him and typed quickly with both hands.

For a while, the only sound in the living room was that of fingers tapping the keyboard and that of pages turning.

Half an hour later, Cheng Liu finished reading the proposal. She told He Bai a few things, and then asked, “Where’s the quarterly summary report?”

“Here.” He Bai turned the laptop so that the screen faced Cheng Liu. “There were some complicated data in the back, so I sorted it out.”

Cheng Liu pulled the laptop over, lightly tapped her finger on the touch panel, and moved it a few times.

“I thought you weren’t coming back tonight, and I was planning to print it out and put it in your study after sorting it out,” He Bai explained, looking at Cheng Liu’s face.

Due to work reasons, the chief assistant often came to her house. A lot of furniture here were even handled by him at the time, and it was normal for him to come and go.

Cheng Liu was focused on the screen and casually said, “It’s just dinner.”

She tapped the touch panel quickly, then pushed the laptop back to He Bai. “The report has been sent to my mailbox, you go back and rest first “

He Bai closed the laptop, and seeing Cheng Liu come out of the working state, he couldn’t help asking, “What’s wrong with the back of your hand?”

Cheng Liu looked down: there was a long scratch on the back of her hand. “I accidentally got scratched this morning at the laboratory in G City,” she said indifferently.

He Bai frowned and hesitated to speak, but he had been her assistant for so many years and knew that Cheng Liu didn’t like him interfering too much in her work. He simply turned around to get the medicine box and came over. “I’ll rub some medicine for you.”

“Just stick a band-aid on it, it’s not so troublesome.” Cheng Liu thought it was no big deal, and it wasn’t like she had broken her hand.

He Bai clicked his tongue. “It’s no bother, Boss Cheng, I’ll leave after applying the medicine for you.”

He Bai and Cheng Liu were from the same university, and they used to be in the same association, so they were more familiar with each other than other people in the company. When not working, the two were friends.

Although she was used to He Bai acting like a mother hen, Chen Liu felt that if he was not allowed to apply the medicine tonight, she probably would have to listen to his nagging for the next few days, so she simply leaned on the sofa and extended her hand to him.

With her other hand, she took the plan proposal and read it again.

He Bai knelt down and carefully applied the medicine to the back of Cheng Liu’s hand. He raised his eyes and looked at the clothes on her body. “Did you go on a date in this suit?”

Cheng Liu’s eyes were still on the proposal, “En.”

“…Are you sure you really like Wang Hongyang?” Wouldn’t people normally dress up for a date?

“Who?”

He Bai was speechless. “Your boyfriend.”

Upon hearing this, Cheng Liu immediately closed the proposal, sat up straight, and looked at He Bai. “Isn’t my boyfriend’s name ‘Wang Haiyang’?”

She clearly remembered that her boyfriend introduced himself as ‘Wang Haiyang’.

He Bai was indeed the person who has been Cheng Liu’s chief assistant for several years. He guessed her logic. “The surname is ‘Wang’, and the three characters are all related to ‘water’, so it is ‘Wang Haiyang’?”

Cheng Liu: “…”

Fortunately, she didn’t call her boyfriend’s name today, otherwise he might be even more angry!

After He Bai applied the medicine for her, he shook his head and stood up. “If I were your boyfriend, I would probably die of anger.”

Cheng Liu: “…”

It’s because she didn’t understand her mistakes deeply enough!

T/N:  ‘Wang’ is a surname that means ‘a pool of water’. 海洋 ‘Haiyang’ as a phrase means ‘ocean’.

‘Hong’ can also be a surname and means ‘flood’. ‘Yang’ is the same character in ‘Haiyang’ and also means ocean.

IDK if one name is better than the other, but I do know that not knowing your boyfriend’s name is bad. Very bad.

  1. I think she saw Ji Chaozhou at the banquet and fell inlove at first sight but because of eye problems mistook Wang Haiyang for him. That could be why after the date she lost interest in him.

  2. Her not knowing her boyfriend’s actual name just goes to show how much she didn’t actually care about him. Not that he actually cares about her either, but asking someone out just because of their face and then not putting any effort into the relationship–she seems like a female scumbag, lol. Her personality and priorities are definitely unique so far and I’m looking forward to both how she attempts to change them in the future and the antics that will result from such attempts.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀

  3. Bruh, it’s dumb but too funny.

I don’t even know how Cheng Liu runs her tech company—she’s so dumb in love (°◡°♡)

      1. Haha, Well it does raise some questions about her IQ.
On the flip side, “smart” people often min max and have some glaring weaknesses. So it’s not entirely unrealistic, just a bit.
