MFRAPW Chapter 13.1: Still hitting people? Want to be so special?

“Then the contract?” Liu Meifen asks. According to what Chen Ying meant, he also offended Wang Bing last night.

“I don’t not want this contract.” Chen Ying calls up Wu Hao from the public relations company of the same group, and taps the device to talk, “Are you free? Come and find me.” Then he turns to Liu Meifen and says, “It’s just that Wang Bing is in that position. After signing the contract, I’m afraid there will be a lot of trouble during the implementation process in the future.”

Liu Meifen nods, indeed, that’s why she wants to resign. Originally, she thought that even if the boss successfully signs the contract, she will not be able to cooperate with Wang Bing.

Just as Chen Ying is about to continue talking, the phone rings. When he sees that it’s Feng Xin calling, he picks it up. On the other end of the phone, Feng Xin has finished teaching Mi Xi how to recognize numbers, and now she’s asking if she can take Mi Xi out. She went to the supermarket at the street corner of the community to buy a calligraphy book for Mi Xi, but Mi Xi wants an abacus.

“An abacus? I have a calculator on the desk in my study,” Chen Ying says, “You can go in and get it, as long as you don’t touch other things.”

“No. I also brought a small calculator with me. But Mi Xi doesn’t like to use it. She wants an abacus. I remember there are some in the stationery section of the supermarket, and I looked in the kitchen, and we happened to be short of some spices, so I wondered if I could take Mi Xi out and buy them together.”

“Okay.” As Chen Ying thinks about it, it’s a good thing for Mi Xi to know more about this world. She is also quite obedient, and she doesn’t run around when she goes out, so she should be fine. “Take her there and buy her what she wants. You can see if she is short of any daily necessities, and buy them together. By the way, teach her to recognize the way and show her the things in the supermarket.”

Feng Xin agrees.

Chen Ying gets worried after thinking about it, so he asks her to give the phone to Mi Xi, and then he tells Mi Xi on the phone that she should take her mobile phone with her, make a call if there is something urgent, to listen to Sister Feng when she goes out, and to keep calm when she sees something new.

Liu Meifen smiles when she hears this sentence. ‘Keep calm’, such a phrase is used.

Chen Ying explains from left to right, and finally hangs up the phone.

Then he continues without pause, “So if I want this contract, I have to let Wang Bing leave this position. I will find out what problems he’s caused before, put some bad reviews directly on his head, and get rid of him through his boss. Your name—when it comes to business people he’s been in contact with, it is inevitable that someone will think about you. I say this to notify you in advance—you just pretend that this is not the case, and just tell everyone that you don’t know.”

Liu Meifen is stunned and stunned. The change in topic is too fast.

Chen Ying asks, “Is there a problem?”

Liu Meifen finally regains her composure and nods. Her heart still feels heavy—no one wants to be implicated in a scandal. But when Chen Ying speaks of the process, he tells her that he respects her very much and wouldn’t deliberately embarrass her, so she nods, “Thank you, Mr. Chen.”

“Thanks for what? I’m not doing this for you. I would do the same thing if it was Sister Lu.”

Sister Lu is the company’s cleaning lady—nearly fifty, dark-skinned, strong, overweight, with a loud voice. Liu Meifen smiles again, and suddenly finds that the young boss is quite humorous. More importantly, he’s protecting her. Liu Meifen feels a little moved.

At this point, someone knocks on the office door, and Chen Ying shouts, “Come in.” At the same time, he says to Liu Meifen, “That’s it for now. Let’s talk about things more later. Work hard and don’t take it to heart.”

Wu Hao pushes the door open and comes in just in time to see Chen Ying comforting a beautiful woman, saying ‘don’t take it to heart’. He sees the beautiful woman stand up and say to Chen Ying, “Then I’ll go out to work first, Mr. Chen.”

She walks out as he comes in, and the two pass each other by.

Wu Hao smiles politely at Liu Meifen, but unfortunately Liu Meifen ignores him and goes out with her head down.

Wu Hao closes the door and rushes to Chen Ying’s table with a face full of the need to gossip, “You devil, you have a new beauty again?”

“She’s worked here a long, okay? You’re just blind.”

“Oh ho, so it’s me who’s blind. That’s not good.” Wu Hao takes one of Chen Ying’s cigarettes and asks, “What’s her name?”

“Liu Meifen.”

“A pity—the name is too feminine.”1

“Is yours a male lead’s name?”

“I feel it’s okay? It’s better than your imperial bodyguard’s name anyway.” Wu Hao takes a puff and asks, “Why did you call me up? Did ’ya miss me?”

“What are you busy with now?”

“There’s the scandal of two of your clients getting complaints from consumers regarding quality problems—that one got hyped up. The media made a big deal out of it.”

Chen Ying takes a puff of his cigarette; he knows these two cases.

“There is also a little artist signed by your family who was photographed by reporters entering and leaving a pleasure house in the middle of the night, which caused quite a stir.”

“Oh.”

“Don’t you even read the news?”

“Entertainment gossip is not something I watch.” Chen Ying takes out his wallet, finds the business card Wang Bing gave him last night, and hands it to Wu Hao, “Help me deal with this.”

Wu Hao grimaces. “Kill him? We are serious Public Relations crisis experts, not a killer organization. Making such a request—even if we’re hard buddies—is really too difficult.”

“Go die.” Chen Ying picks up his cigarette and continues to smoke. “Look into him: this man is lascivious—he must have done a lot of dirty things. In this circle, if you like to press for sexual favors, you will also like money. Find out who he has bullied, and what money he has taken that should not be taken. Then create some public opinion. Come out, point to his style of work, and then look for an opportunity to throw a clarification message: it’s purely a rumor that our company stopped cooperating with Yongkai because of the licentious work style of their person in charge of the project.”

“Is there such a rumor?” Wu Hao smiles; he’s familiar with Chen Ying’s policies.

“There will be after that clarification. That pig-headed attitude of his must have provoked a lot of people. We don’t need to be responsible for making a statement on the Internet, and we don’t even need to use trumpet accounts2. Naturally, there will be people who will take the initiative to scold him and break the news. The scandal will become serious, so of course Wang Bing won’t sit still. Regardless of whether he is a relative or a confidant of the big boss Qin Wenyi, it is impossible for Qin Wenyi to help him pay for these scandals.

“How much is involved?”

“A contract of more than 40 million.”

Wu Hao whistles, and with his keenness, he immediately guesses what’s going on. “This pig wants to get involved with our company’s beautiful lady?”

“I can be regarded as in the same company as you, but Liu Meifen is not in the same company as you.3 Respect yourself, Mr. Wu.”

Chen Ying did not hide it from him. Wu Hao has been in this position for a long time, and he is a confidant, and his words are reliable. If he knows what is happening, it will be easier to deal with matters. Chen Ying tells him the whole thing, including the events of last night when he stomped on Wang Bing’s face and completely ruined the relationship.

Wu Hao understands, “Since you made such a move, then this pig will find any excuse to report that the contract cannot be signed and make it hard to continue negotiations. The boss of the other party will come to you, right?”

“If they want to investigate internally I will also know what to do. Our gesture of clarifying the rumors is to make the first step—they will just follow the trend.”

“What if they don’t buy it?”

“Then I will lose more than 40 million, and so I have to squeeze and squeeze the employees to regain some of the company’s profits.”

“Black-hearted capitalist.”

“Thank you.”

“I’m not praising you. Even if you’re black-hearted, you’re mentally handicapped, and you lost the more than 40 million yourself. Okay, so he already handed over the contracts—you should’ve signed first and the money would’ve gone in your pocket, and now you can do whatever you want.”

“No, I’m not happy that way.” Chen Ying puffs on a cigarette.

“Shit.” Dead arrogant.

“Swear at the boss and get your wages deducted.”

“I learned all the swear words from the boss. I remember how polite I was when I first entered the industry. Everyone praised me. I got along with the boss too much, and I went in and out of a place where fish and dragons mixed up4. I met people from all walks of life—mixing alcohol, smoking, and swearing—my life has become degenerate like this.”

“Go and ask my old man if there’s a new film project—it’s a waste for you not to be an actor.”

“No way. Once I appear on the screen, I will definitely be famous, and I am afraid of being popular. After being popular, there will be many troubles.”

“It’s all good. When you become popular, you’ll help the company make money, and at the same time, you will hype yourself to deal with your own public relations crises and help the company save money.”

“What the hell.” So stingy.

FOOTNOTES:
1 (美芬) Mei Fen means ‘beautiful’ and ‘fragrance’. (浩) Hao means ‘grand’  or ‘vast expanse of water’, (鹰), Ying means ‘eagle’ or ‘hawk’ or ‘falcon’; a large bird of prey. Incidentally, (熙) Xi means ‘bright’ or ‘prosperous’.

2Trumpet accounts are fake, secondary accounts that people use to interact with the internet anonymously.

3 Liu Meifen works for the advertising agency and Wu Hao works for the public relations firm. Both are under the Lingyu Group controlled by Chen Ying’s family.

4 Fish and dragons mix up’ means bad/degenerate/stupid people get mixed with the good/virtuous/talented.

Considering he’s a media mogul, it’s pretty odd for Chen Ying to not pay attention to entertainment news—that’s their bread and butter. But I guess that’s why he has an entire PR agency that monitors those things for him (⁀ᗢ⁀)
