[ILivestreamDivination] Chapter 74.1 — The Licking Dog’s Kidneys

<Little Painter> flipped open her sketch book and showed off a cute little person. She was only three heads tall, with puffy cheeks and a very cute look.

She sat behind a desk, holding a talisman in her left hand and a black banner in her left. It read, ‘One divination, 666 yuan. No cheating, young or old.’

A selfie stick with a mobile phone attached was placed high on the table.

The little person was looking at the camera, with a bubble above her head that  said, “I calculated with my fingers, and you have a little green on your head.”

An Rugu: “…”

Audience in the livestream channel: “!!!”

[The elements are too complete, is it possible to draw this? ]

[Host: I suspect you are slandering me, and I have evidence.]

[Damn, this little guy still has baby fat. The destined person is really brave. Aren’t you afraid the streamer would get mad and make you a little green on the head?]

[Hey, the comic does not mention any names, so please do not take it personally (dog head)]

<Little Painter> didn’t care at all. With a smile on her face, she turned to the next four-frame cartoon.

The Q-version1 little person was floating in the air without touching the ground, with a tall hat on her head, a soul-calling banner in her left hand, a soul-catching chain in her right hand, and wearing black yin envoy robes.

The little person stood at the amusement park, and the soul-catching chain in her hand had split into two, each hooking Q-versions of two little people.

The two little figures, one male and one female, looked panicked, but they kept staring at each other. The deep affection between them could almost overflow from the screen.

A speech bubble with the words “May all lovers in the world return to the Underworld” appeared on the Q-version’s head.

An Rugu: “?”

Audience in the livestream channel: “!!!”

[Hahahahaha, I laughed so hard that I vomited.]

[The title of ‘Lovers’ True Test’ must be added  to ‘Big Company Killer’ and ‘Idol Buster’.]

[Please control yourself. If you keep saying this, there may be no couples coming to this livestreamer for fortune-telling from now on.]

When <Little Painter> showed her work, she smiled, looking very youthful, and even though she was not in good spirits, she looked very beautiful.

She said excitedly, “Host, I’ve watched a few of your livestreams and created my first comic. I also watched the last livestream featuring the Underworld, but the platform didn’t allow me to take screenshots, so I just drew a simple one sketch.

“I had hoped to draw more so I could give it to you as a gift on your birthday. As it turned out, I won the prize today, so I had to send out some gifts early.”

Generally, popular streamers have a lot of fans, and on  their birthdays, these fans would often give them birthday gifts. Such a scene would be full of different kinds of gifts, with each fan showing off their talents. Rich fans hired people to make merchandise, while artists created Q-version avatars for the streamers… and so on.

Seeing her sincerity and enthusiasm, An Rugu didn’t refuse her offer, and her voice was unusually gentle, “Thank you.”

“When is your birthday? I’ll see if I can finish the painting.”

An Rugu looked away when she heard that.

According to her master, she was an orphan who was taken in by him at the temple, and he didn’t know her real birthday. However, the master registered the day of their first meeting as her birthday in her household registration.

“The fifteenth day of the second lunar month.”

An Rugu noticed that many people in the comments were starting to think about what birthday gifts to give her. After a long pause, she said, “Don’t spend money on me. I don’t accept gifts here. I don’t accept expensive ones, and I don’t accept cheap ones. But I accept your blessings.”

Accepting gifts was too much of a hassle, and she didn’t want to get into trouble. Besides, many viewers weren’t as wealthy as she was, so there was no need to accept their gifts.

She then looked up at the somewhat frustrated <Little Painter> and said with a hint of encouragement, “Your drawing is good, thank you. I have a super topic chat group where you can share it with more people.”

<Little Painter> was very happy and quickly agreed, “That’s good.”

“I’m going to tell you your fortune now. Please pay the divination fee, a high-powered gun salute.”

After receiving the divination fee, An Rugu calculated for a long time and said, “Let me calculate your background first. In your eight characters, there are more direct and indirect wealth, but your Sun sign is weak and lifeless, and you lack support from your peers.

“You grew up in a poor family with two younger brothers, right?”

<Little Painter>‘s smile froze, and her face fell a little. Facing the matters of her background laid out in the livestream, she couldn’t help but reveal the scars in her heart.

“My family was very poor when I was a child. By the time I was five, I could stand already on a stool and cook for my family. At that time, everyone in the village was poor, but being poor didn’t matter to me. It was just that my family was a little biased…”

After giving birth to her, her mother had aborted several female fetuses before finally giving birth to her two younger brothers. Because her family looked down upon her so much, she was treated her very badly.

The young artist lost herself in memory, “Actually, I’ve loved drawing since I was a kid. My junior high art teacher said I had talent and could be an art student. I excitedly told my parents about this, but not only did they not let me become an art student, they told me to drop out of school and work as soon as possible, and stop dreaming.

“Art students spend a lot of money, and my family is really poor. They didn’t want to support me on this, which I understand. Later, I went out to work, keeping only enough money for food for myself and sending the rest of my salary back home, hoping to make life easier for my parents.

“But you know, even though our family was so poor, my two younger brothers both became art students.

“I asked them why, and they said my brother’s grades were too poor to get into university without studying art. Even though art school tuition costs tens of thousands of yuan, they’d sell everything they had just to support them. They also told me to get married soon so they could get some money for the bride price.”

<Little Painter> was very calm as she spoke, her expression unchanged, but she was a little depressed inside.

Many people in the livestream channel were worried.

[This is heartbreaking. It’s like seeing my friend’s family, they also favor boys over girls.]

[Destined person’s parents: There is a throne to inherit in our family2.]

FOOTNOTES:

  1. Q-version is a homonym for ‘cute-version’. It’s the same as the Japanese chibi art style. ↩︎
  2. Inherit the throne‘ is a popular online phrase and it can mean two things. The first is to express high degree of approval, or second, jokingly refer to one’s ability to ‘inherit the throne’ and is obviously sarcastic.
In this case, the comment is making fun of the destined person’s family for thinking too highly of themselves. ↩︎
