[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 60.1 — Day 21: Skipping Grades

There was silence at the table for a while.

He Bai was so angry that he was speechless; Cheng Liu was still immersed in being called ‘senior sister’; and only Ji Chaozhou, who was sat opposite them, acted as usual.

He picked up the wineglass, tilted his head back slightly, and took a sip.

His appearance was originally much better than that of an ordinary person, and every part of his face seemed to be carefully carved by God, without any imperfection. At this moment, he was holding the wineglass, looking a little lazy and casual, and his amber eyes—like beautiful glass— glanced lightly at her, shining brightly.

Cheng Liu, who was sitting across him, was mesmerized by his gaze and couldn’t extricate herself. Her brain, which had always been working at high speed, was now just a puddle of goo.

“I remember Senior Sister posted her university diploma on her Moments before. Have you seen it, Mr. Ji?” He Bai smiled slightly, exposing Ji Chaozhou’s previous words.

“Really?” Ji Chaozhou put down his wineglass, his fingertips stopped at the bottom of the glass, stroking it slowly, and said with a confused tone, “I don’t check Moments.”

Cheng Liu nodded in agreement, “He doesn’t look at Moments.”

If Ji Chaozhou had the habit of checking his Moments feed, he would definitely have seen Cheng Liu’s post on April 2 about her boyfriend giving her perfume, and their misunderstanding would not have lasted for so many days.

He Bai was so angry that he laughed. He wanted to raise his hand and point his finger at Ji Chaozhou, say outright that he had just liked his post last night.

But once he said that, He Bai’s own post on WeChat Moments—which only Ji Chaozhou could see—would be exposed. In the end, he raised his hand to support his forehead, covering his face to prevent himself from losing control of his emotions.

This Ji Chaozhou was basically… a demon in disguise.

Ji Chaozhou picked up his phone and looked at Cheng Liu, “Senior Sister, let me check your Moments now.”

“Ha ha… What’s there to see in my Moments?” This time, Cheng Liu sighed at the title and quickly took out her phone from her pocket. She placed it on her thigh and quickly opened her Moments while distracting Ji Chaozhou.

“There’s only a few.”

The post on April 2nd still hasn’t been deleted!

“I just want to know more about my senior sister.” Ji Chaozhou tilted his head to look at He Bai, “It saves me from asking others.”

“…” He Bai relied on his twenty years of cultivation to hold back from rolling his eyes.

Cheng Liu hated He Bai in her heart. He always helped to do whatever she didn’t want. It was really annoying!

Cheng Liu quickly found the Moments’ post on April 2, paused—and was unwilling to delete it. In the end, she set it to be visible only to herself.

After doing all this, Ji Chaozhou picked up his mobile phone and checked his Moments feed.

Except for this month of April, there were only a few updates on Cheng Liu’s Moments. Ji Chaozhou scrolled through it again and found, as expected, that one post was missing. He pretended not to know.

“Senior Sister,” Ji Chaozhou put down his phone and looked up at Cheng Liu, “You didn’t post your junior high school diploma.”

“Oh, I didn’t have a cell phone in junior high school.” Cheng Liu has successfully covered up her Moments and now looked relaxed, “If you want to see it, I’ll show it to you later.”

Ji Chaozhou hesitated, “Will it bother Senior Sister?”

“No, I’ve put it in a drawer.” Cheng Liu’s heart was beating especially fast. She felt that Ji Chaozhou was particularly easy to talk to this day, and was not as cold and indifferent as usual.

“I want to see it, too,” He Bai interrupted. “Senior sister has also told me about her past.”

This meal was also held for He Bai. Cheng Liu thought of what Ji Chaozhou said just now and decided to do something to this old saboteur.

“Okay,” Cheng Liu stood up, “I’ll go get it now. Wait for me.”

After saying that, she pushed the chair away and walked out quickly.

… …

Only the two young men were left at the table.

As soon as Cheng Liu left, all the emotions on their faces disappeared at the same time.

“How did you like my post if you don’t check your Moments? Was your account hacked?” He Bai finally couldn’t hold it in anymore and asked in a sarcastic tone.

Ji Chaozhou flicked his finger towards the wine glass, making a crisp sound. His expression remained unchanged, “So what if I saw it?”

He Bai was so stung that he was speechless. He suddenly sneered, “You may not know Cheng Liu very well. She likes to conquer new things. When she was chasing Wang Hongyang— oh, he was her ex-boyfriend. Anyway, she started to get bored after she got him.

“By the way, I just realized now that your profile looks a bit like Wang Hongyang.”

He Bai didn’t know that Cheng Liu had recognized the wrong person at the airport, and he didn’t know that Ji Chaozhou had already met Wang Hongyang.

He Bai just wanted to let Ji Chaozhou know that Cheng Liu has an ex, and this ex was a bit like him.

Ji Chaozhou lowered his eyes and looked at his hands. The fact that Cheng Liu mistook her boyfriend for a few days was enough to prove that she was not serious about Wang Hongyang. Then he quickly stopped thinking about it.

It was totally impossible to say that he didn’t care about this matter at all.

“You can tell Cheng Liu about this later. You can suggest that she not be too fickle.” Ji Chaozhou raised his eyelids and said to He Bai, “Or I can repeat it for you.”

“You!” He Bo’s eyelids twitched violently several times. He took a deep breath and said, “I was just saying it casually.”

“Why did you both put down your chopsticks?” Cheng Liu asked. She came in with her junior high school diploma and saw these two people sitting silently at the table.

“I was waiting for you,” Ji Chaozhou whispered, picking up his chopsticks again.

Cheng Liu’s ears felt hot, and she felt that every word of Ji Chaozhou today made her think of other things.

“This is my junior high school diploma.” Cheng Liu placed the green diploma on the table, “But I don’t have a primary school diploma.”

Ji Chaozhou was far away; before he had time to raise his hand, He Bai had already reached out and taken it. He raised his eyebrows at Ji Chaozhou.

This junior high school diploma was not big, about A7 size, and was wrapped in a green cover that was now a bit old. There was also a layer of plastic cover outside the green cover, which has since turned yellow.

He Bai opened the graduation certificate. It had very simple content. The graduation date was written in black neutral pen and was stamped with a metal seal.

The photo above caught his attention the most.

This photo was very different from Cheng Liu now, but if one looked closely one could see that the outlines were still very similar.

“Senior Sister, how old were you in this photo?” He Bai turned to ask Cheng Liu. He held the graduation certificate with his hand, intending to show it to Ji Chaozhou.

“About 12.” Cheng Liu thought for a moment, “I had it taken when I was about to graduate from the third year of junior high school.”

She reached out and pulled the graduation certificate from He Bai’s hands and handed it to Ji Chaozhou, “Here you go.”

Ji Chaozhou raised his hand to take it, but his eyes were on He Bai.

The two men’s eyes met in mid-air, and each knew who had lost.

Cheng Liu looked very young on this graduation certificate, with a dark, yellow-toned face, but her eyes remained the same, as bright as ever.

Ji Chaozhou placed his fingertips on Cheng Liu’s face in the photo and touched it gently. It seemed that through the photo, he could travel through time and space and touch the young Cheng Liu at that time.

“Senior Sister, I’ve always wanted to ask you why you only skipped grades in junior high school?” He Bai asked.

Ji Chaozhou on the opposite side looked over and waited for Cheng Liu to answer.

“Well…” Cheng Liu scratched her face, “I don’t like skipping grades.”

He Bai nodded, understanding, “Many students skip grades frequently, and the age gap becomes big, so they don’t interact much with their classmates.”

Ji Chaozhou looked quietly at Cheng Liu sitting across him. He didn’t think she would be out of place.
