[ILivestreamDivination] Chapter 40.4 — Funeral for the Living

No matter what had happened before, An Rugu continued to sit still and stayed silent. Now, she took the initiative to speak, “Actually, I have some clues about what happened to you.”

She had calculated Xu Han’s fate. Xu Han’s character was good, and he had not committed any crime. He was in trouble this time, so she could still help.

She calculated his fate first because she didn’t want to do things for bad people. This was not only detrimental to morality, but more importantly, it made it impossible to pass the test in her heart.

These days, she had been having more and more contact with metaphysics practitioners and unexpectedly found that she was different from them.

Gifted people were acutely aware of the changes and presence of magnetic fields. But she was different: she could directly see the energy fluctuations caused by the magnetic field.

For example, last time in the Changjiu Building, the malignant forces caused the entire building to fall into a desperate situation. The feng shui compass completely failed in the face of the complex energy field. The Fox Immortal instinctively felt that it was dangerous and was unwilling to come. Others could only rely on the magic weapons that have not malfunctioned and looked for the hidden artifact by checking where these magic weapons resonated with energy.

But in her eyes, the world was different. The evil spirit was thick around them and the miasma was almost tangible, spreading from the soles of the feet upwards, getting thicker the farther it went down. It could only be that the hidden artifact was underground.

Xu Han was now facing a premature aging disease; she could also see some strange things that, it would seem, others could not.

The aura on his body was very chaotic, and a faint breath of life floated out of his body, and she didn’t know where it was going.

An Ru looked back and said, “Get me some cinnabar and yellow paper, and I will draw a tracking talisman to see where your luck and life span have gone.”

Some of the Daoist people present had brought some cinnabar and yellow paper with them, and they handed them over immediately.

Because invoking the gods was a secret matter, An Rugu found a quiet room, drew the talisman alone, and only then did she go back to where the others were.

She activated the talisman, and the talisman burned with invisible flames. It started burning from the bottom and gradually spread upwards, and the burned area became darker and darker. Eventually, invisible flames engulfed the spell.

She closed her eyes, and a picture appeared in front of her.

It was a small apartment, with a lot of clutter on the floor and a very messy room.

In the center, there was a mourning hall!

The mourning hall was very simply decorated, with wreaths randomly placed around it, and the words ‘To the Dead’ written in the center, and elegiac couplets hung on both sides. There was an offering table in front, and there were three apples placed on it as sacrifices and a candle burning on both ends.

And in the center was a photo.

When An Rugu saw the photo clearly, she froze.

The man in the picture wore glasses and had an elegant temperament. He looked exactly like Xu Han next to her.

This mourning hall was prepared for Xu Han!

She opened her eyes and lowered her gaze, immersed in her thoughts. It turned out to be a funeral for the living…

Others were all busy asking, “Why haven’t I heard of this tracking talisman? Did you create it yourself?”

“Such self-created talismans would have very little power, and it is unlikely that it could track evil spirits.”

Xu Han had just seen An Rugu’s spell ignite without wind or flame. He now regarded An Ru as the last life-saving straw and was looking expectantly in her direction, “Master, what did you see?”

An Rugu sighed slightly and said something shocking, “Someone is holding your funeral!”

Xu Han was unable to move as if he was nailed to the spot, and a chill spread throughout his body, “I still have a long life to live, how can someone hold a funeral for me?!”

The others in the room suddenly realized: it turned out to be a funeral for the living!

Seeing that Xu Han didn’t understand, someone explained, “Funeral for the living, as the name suggests, is to organize a funeral for a person when he is not dead. This is not only very inauspicious, but can also confuse the yin envoy, so that they think you are dying, and others could steal your life span, your luck, and other things. No wonder you aged overnight.”

“I have never seen such a sinister thing before. Who is this unscrupulous person who did it?”

“Yes, you can confuse the yin envoy now, but paper can’t contain the fire. When the matter is discovered, it will be very harmful to yin virtue, and the one who did it will be relegated to reincarnate as a lowly animal!”

… …

Holding funerals for the living had a long history. In the previous dynasties, a prince would often hold funerals for himself in order to prevent the emperor from being suspicious of him. These princes may think that holding funerals for the living would have no real effect on his person, but everyone in the metaphysical community knew that funerals for the living have their own power.

In particular, the more complete the items used in the mourning hall were—the person’s personal belongings, their hair and nails, etc.—the more realistic the funeral would be, and the greater the impact it would have on the living person.

Xu Han was a perfect example. His hair turned gray overnight, and he was on the verge of death. It looked like he would not be able to live for more than a few days.

Xu Han gritted his teeth when he heard this, and his back molars could be heard grinding loudly. He slapped the table hard, making a deep resounding bang. “Who is plotting against me? This is too vicious!”

An Rugu shook her head slowly, “There is too little information. I only know that you were placed in a mourning hall, but I don’t know anything else.”

Xu Han almost bit through his lip, his whole body was shaking with anger, but he knew that there was nothing he could do now, so he quickly focused on what’s important and asked An Rugu, “Master, now that you have seen this matter, can you break it? If you do it—50 million. It’s yours!”

When others heard him say this, they did not feel jealous in their hearts because they had always that the cause of his illness was evil spirits entering the body or perhaps the feng shui going bad. They did not realize that the faint evil aura on Xu Han’s body was caused by holding a funeral for a living person.

Above all, the world of metaphysics respected those who were capable. If An Rugu could solve problems that they could not, then she deserved their respect.
