Well, this time, the stocks of the food companies involved really tanked as people swore off eating laotan fermented greens (laotan is the special jar used to store the greens for fermentation).

In 2020, two years before this scandal, a whopping 116.56 billion servings of instant noodles were consumed worldwide—the Chinese accounted for 40% of that. The most popular flavor was braised beef. The second? The Laotan series.
