WARNING: this part contains serious food ick! 🤢🤮

==================

An Rugu’s words exploded like a bomb, causing huge waves in the livestream channel.

Was the hygienic condition of the Jar-Fermented-Greens and Beef Instant Noodles they usually eat so poor? And people really stepped on it with their bare feet?

Almost the entire audience did not believe it—or rather they did not want to believe it.

[Damn, I just ate a pack of Master Zhang’s Jar-Fermented-Greens and Beef Noodles.]

[The Tong‘er Jar-Fermented-Greens and Beef Noodles in my hand suddenly lost their flavor.]

[These brands are all big brands. How could they use such disgusting fermented greens? This is impossible! I do not believe!]

[Master Zhang immediately sent a lawyer’s letter.]

The barrage was noisy, and the refresh speed was extremely fast.

An Rugu picked up her tea, lowered her head and took a sip; her eyebrows were like ice and snow.

At this time, there was a barrage saying: [I can testify for the host! If you want to see it, I will take you to that factory now!]

Audience in the livestream channel: “???”

[Good guy, are the sanitary conditions there really that bad?]

[Then why didn’t you say it before??]

<Blue Crystal>: [I have been there once and never want to go a second time. I posted a message online asking everyone not to eat it, but the traffic was very small.]

The audience in the livestream channel overwhelmingly expressed their desire to watch it.

An Rugu thought for a while, spoke a few words to the food reviewer, then hung up the phone and chatted with <Blue Crystal>.

<Blue Crystal> put on a face mask, put the phone in his shirt pocket, turned the camera to show the scene outside covertly, and went inside the factory.

Because the factory often collected bulk fermented greens from nearby villagers, its management was very relaxed and anyone could enter.

<Blue Crystal> blended in very smoothly, entering a no-man’s land. As soon as he entered, a huge pit came into view. There was an enormous pile of fermented greens buried in the pit, and many men with cigarettes in their mouths were stepping on the fermented greens with their bare feet and chatting with each other.

Tens of thousands of people in the livestream channel saw the men’s bare feet pressed tightly against fermented greens. When someone stepped on it particularly hard, the fermented greens would squeeze out some juice and make a squishing sound.

An Rugu felt that this was enough, so she took the initiative and said, “You should leave quickly now, while it’s safe.”

<Blue Crystal> then pretended that nothing was wrong and left without anyone noticing anything unusual.

Compared to the calmness of the factory, the livestream channel has exploded.

[I searched on Master Zhang’s official website and found out that this is the factory that supplies their jar-fermented-greens. I hate it so much!]

[The destined person who was just doing the jar-fermented-greens and beef instant noodle review was really miserable. Moreover, he also said that he had eaten a lot of foot skin since he was a child.]

[I looked at the whole box of jar-fermented-greens noodles next to me and fell into deep silence.]

[Jar-fermented-greens noodles with extra toes!]

[You guys are too particular. Smelly feet are more likely to ferment vegetables!]

[I have eaten these from elementary school to college. Over the years, how many people’s stinky feet have I tasted?]

[Fortunately, I eat the Kaikai brand of jar-fermented-greens and sour beef noodles.]

[Surprise! Kaikai also uses this factory.]

[No! ! !]

While the audience in the livestream channel was still reeling in shock, An Rugu contacted the third pre-destined person, Lu Yao.

The predestined guest also chose to use video to get their fortune told.

An Rugu made the call, the livestream page split in half, and a young man appeared on the screen. He looked handsome and wore a white T-shirt and black trousers. He was probably only twenty years old, with a bookish and studious air about him.

Lu Yao nodded to An Rugu as usual and said politely, “Hello, host, I started following you after finishing the college entrance examination.”

At first, he firmly believed in science and did not take this livestream to heart. He just followed the streamer out of curiosity.

In his eyes, those so-called destined people were all paid actors or were here for drama.

As he watched, however, he discovered that there were some destined people who couldn’t possibly be here for pay or drama because one couldn’t invite them no matter how much money was spent.

Then there was only one possibility: this streamer could really tell fortunes.

He’d been in a bad mood recently. He’d been wandering around the internet in a dazed state all day long, not knowing what he was searching for.

On a whim, Lu Yao chose to join the lottery, and to his surprise—he won. Right now, he only had one thought in his mind: the person drawn in the lottery always turned out to be unlucky.

“Hello,” An Rugu said calmly.

Many viewers in the livestream channel were still immersed in the pain of knowing too much about their beloved instant noodles, and only a few people were willing to speak.

[Welcome to this victim, no, this handsome guy!]

[The college entrance examination has just ended. He is so young. This is the youngest person in the history of the livestream channel.]

[Nonsense, those two primary school students were the youngest.]

“Please pay the divination fee, a high-powered gun salute.”

“Okay.” Lu Yao immediately responded with a high-powered gun salute.

“As per the old rule, let’s talk about your family first. You were born in a well-off family and you are the only son in the family. You are born strong and unyielding. Your eight characters have both the seal and the ribbon, you are destined to be the best.”

Lu Yao nodded and said in a calm voice, “Yes, my parents only have one child, and I took the highest marks for this year’s college entrance exams.”

[Damn it, he already looks so handsome, and he’s still like that! Why are there such great differences between people?]

[Little brother, are you dating? Choose me, I’m super sweet!]

T/N:  The worst part about this jar-fermented-greens story is that IT’S ALL TRUE 😱

In 2022, a consumers’ rights show shared a hidden video taken inside such a factory—I saw about 3 seconds of it while researching this chapter before I nyoomed right tf out 😭. As in the story, many small and big brands were exposed to be using jar-fermented-greens from that factory.

You know how in c-novels, company stocks absurdly take a dive whenever a scandal occurs between 2 high school students haha. Well, this time, the stocks of the food companies involved really tanked as people swore off eating laotan fermented greens (laotan is the special jar used to store the greens for fermentation).

In 2020, two years before this scandal, a whopping 116.56 billion servings of instant noodles were consumed worldwide—the Chinese accounted for 40% of that. The most popular flavor was braised beef. The second? The Laotan series.
