[ILivestreamDivination] Chapter 29.5 — Ancestral Grave Dug Up

An Rugu paid no more attention to <Jianghu Divine Calculator> and contacted the third destined person <Snowflake>.

As soon as she sent the message, <Snowflake> immediately replied and happily said that she would connect via videocall.

An Rugu dialed as usual. After the call was connected, the screen in the livestream channel was divided into two halves, with the picture of the destined person on the left. It was now seven o’clock in the evening. <Snowflake> appeared to be a woman in her mid-twenties, with her hair on a ponytail and pretty appearance. She was wearing home clothes and holding a half-eaten apple in her hand.

When she saw that the call was connected, a sunny smile appeared on her face, showing snow-white teeth. She raised her hand to greet An Rugu, “Host, I’ve watched your livestream since the beginning. Today, I’ve watched your previous divinations, waiting for you to get to me.”

[Wow, wife! Can you give me a bite of the apple in your hand?]

[My sister is so beautiful and has a sunny temperament. She is the sister of my dreams.]

<Snowflake> looked at the many rainbow farts and felt a little overwhelmed at being praised. “No, no, I’m just an ordinary person. If you continue to praise me, I’ll be confused. This apple is my dinner. I’ve been trying to lose weight recently.”

<Snowflake> was an old fan of An Rugu, and she has a high impression of her. She had seen how she was provoked by her fellow fortune-teller earlier, and she was quite worried that An Rugu would be unhappy, so she took the initiative to comfort her, “Host, humans are diverse; don’t pay attention to those who deliberately seek trouble. These kind of people, the more you pay attention to them, the more energetic they become.”

This was the first time that An Rugu saw a destined person taking the initiative to comfort her in the livestream channel. A faint smile bloomed on her face, and her temperament became more and more ethereal, stunning the people watching. “Thank you, I understand. ”

“Even if I watch you a hundred times, I have to say, it’s a pity that you don’t rely on your face to make a living,” <Snowflake> said, hands covering her red face.

“Please pay the divination fee.”

“Yeah, okay, here. But I haven’t thought about what I want to ask you yet. Let me think about it first.”

<Snowflake> stood up from the sofa and walked about. Next to the sofa was a yoga mat. She did not forget to continue comforting An Rugu, “When I am angry with my boss, I usually do yoga. Then I would go to the balcony to enjoy the breeze and the scenery, and my mood would get better.”

The cell phone camera captured the background behind her. She was in her own home. It was very small. The decoration was dated, the overhead lamp was old and so the lights were dim, and the furniture was shabby.

But the old table was covered with a clean tablecloth, the dirty walls were covered with cute stickers, and there was a vase next to the TV with fake flowers in it. The old, rundown house was decorated very warmly, and it could be seen that the owner has taken great care of it.

[Wow, I feel like this destined person is very good at life.]

[My home is full of garbage, but sister’s home is spotless. Although the area is small, it is warm and cozy. I want to have a small house like this.]

[Does sister live alone?]

When <Snowflake> saw these comments, she smiled and shook her head; then, as if she thought of something, she nodded, leaving the audience very puzzled.

She explained, “I used to live with a female colleague, but she moved out a few days ago, and I’m still not used to it.”

[I am a girl, and I would like to live with a cheerful young lady like you.]

[Why did your female colleague move away? Didn’t she like living with you?]

“No, we have a pretty good relationship.”

A sunny smile appeared on <Snowflake>’s face. “Actually, I live in a village within the city1. You know how it is with places like this: the location is good, but the conditions are very poor. We’ve been told that this village is going to be demolished and the residents have been notified to move out. The landlord asked me and my roommate to also move out as soon as possible. My roommate already left, but I still have some things to do, so I delayed my move for a few days.”

When she said this, the audience noticed something strange.

For other destined guests, the ambient sound was always quite noisy—the sounds of people, vehicles, and other noises of life.

But with <Snowflake>, it was particularly quiet. When she didn’t speak, it was quiet enough that one could almost hear a pin drop.

Although <Snowflake> didn’t say it, the audience could tell that her life was a bit tight.

[As a reminder from the front row, a village in the city is very chaotic, with a mixture of fish and dragons2. Many recent graduates have to live in urban villages because they’re short of money, but I don’t recommend it because it’s too chaotic, especially for girls. Don’t ask me how I know this, but when I lived there before, a drunk man knocked on my door.]

[And <Snowflake> said that everyone around her has moved away, which makes things even scarier. There is no one around. If there is any danger, no one will come to help. The young lady is so brave.]

[Why doesn’t she eat meat while she’s at it3? The destined person has no money and cannot move even if she wants to.]

<Snowflake> saw the audience quarreling because of her and quickly put a stop to it. “Well, I do know it’s quite dangerous around here, and I’m actually feeling a little panicked to tell you the truth. I’ve already found a new place to move into. That one has good security. You guys, I will move out soon. Don’t worry.”

Although she said she would move out immediately, her tone was, in fact, still very relaxed, and she didn’t think she was in any real danger.

When An Rugu saw her face, she vaguely felt that something was wrong. She took a closer look and frowned.

Judging from her appearance, this <Snowflake> was about to have a bloody disaster!

But how could there be such a bloody disaster when she was just at home?

This was quite strange…

In order to calculate more detailed content, An Rugu pinched her fingers, closed her eyes, spread out the fate of <Snowflake> in her mind, and carefully speculated on the cause of her bloody disaster.

T/N: ‘Village within a city’

FOOTNOTES:

  1. 城中村 This could be translated as ‘urban village’ but I think ‘village within a city’ is more descriptive of what it really is. It’s a modern China phenomenon whereby old villages get ‘left behind’ in modernization and so become small pockets of rural culture within a highly urbanized city. These villages are primarily residential—the farmers having already lost their arable lands to urbanization—but they still maintain their autonomy and rural collective ownership, and are, thus, outside urban management planning. As a result, they are comparatively disorganized, crowded, and have chaotic public security.  ↩︎
  2. Where fish and dragons mix, it’s an idiom which means a place where you can meet people from all walks of life: the good as well as the bad. ↩︎
  3. Why don’t they eat meat? It’s supposedly a response given by Emperor Hui of Jin when he was told that people were dying of starvation because they didn’t have enough rice to eat. He didn’t understand that for the common people, meat was a luxury very few could afford. So it’s meant to describe a wealthy person unable to understand the plight of the poor. ↩︎
