[ILivestreamDivination] Chapter 5.2 — The Second Divination

An Rugu put down her teacup, and her voice was ethereal and soft, making people instinctively calm down. “You were born in a well-to-do family, your parents are harmonious, and you have a younger brother. Your family atmosphere is harmonious, they treat you well, and your relationship with your younger brother is also good. In fact, it’s very good.”

The girl’s eyes widened when she heard the words, and she couldn’t help but raise her hand to cover her mouth and exclaimed, “Yes, you are quite accurate! I do have a younger brother, who is six years old this year. Although he is mischievous, he is quite cute.”

Talking directly about family members was a divination skill. It not only showed one’s ability, but would also convince the guests and calm their doubtful hearts, and the flow of subsequent communication would be much easier.

Other fortune-tellers may feel smug for a while for doing a good job, and there was a high probability that they would smile. But An Rugu still looked calm, as if she didn’t at all feel how powerful her move was—and this became evidence of her inscrutability in the eyes of others.

An Rugu simply continued with her calculations. “You have all the financial officials and seals, and it is easy for you to get renown. Your college entrance examination results should be very good.”

The girl was even more surprised when she heard the words, she nodded like a chicken pecking at rice, and now completely trusted An Rugu. “I passed the college entrance examination and ranked first in our class, and now I go to school in an ordinary 985 university1, and my grades are not bad. My parents are very proud .”

[985 is also called ordinary? Redefine the word ‘ordinary’.]

[This study tyrant is talking about ordinary 985 schools, but it is indeed extraordinary for ordinary people like me.]

[This girl has a good family background, a good relationship with her family, good grades, and a good life. I shed tears of envy.]

[It seems that those people have inferred wrongly before, and the people who can draw the prize are not all unlucky.]

“What do you want to ask about this time?” An Rugu’s eyes fell on the girl, with subtle doubts in her eyes.

The first predestined person, <Time Passes Swiftly Like Flowing Water>, met a liar, and the bad fortune was reflected on her face, which could be seen at a glance.

This girl, however, showed no signs of bad luck, but she looked sad, which was really strange.

When she heard the words, the girl seemed to think of something, and her expression once again became extremely disheartened. She raised her hand to support her forehead; she looked like she was unable to support herself, her eyes even glistened, and she really seemed as if she was about to cry.

“My little brother is missing.”

[? ? ? ]

[The person who said before that not all people predestined to get a divination are unlucky, please stand up. Isn’t this unlucky? ]

[I thought she wanted to get a divination for her studies, but the clown was me.]

The girl didn’t want to cry in the livestream channel because it was a bit embarrassing, but the huge panic and worry pouring out of her heart made her feel extremely uncomfortable, so she had to cover her eyes and cover her red eye sockets.

“A few days ago, my parents went back to our hometown to visit our relatives. My little brother had a fever, so they didn’t take him with them. I was about to take an exam—I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to guarantee my postgraduate placement, and I didn’t want to lower my grade point average, so I also stayed behind to keep studying in the house. I locked the door for the past two days and put the TV on for him so he could  entertain himself. What happened was, last night, when I was done with my studies for the day and prepared to order takeaway, I realized that he had disappeared! The front door was closed, but the lock was opened from the inside, and I don’t know where he went.”

[Oh my God, call the police quickly, you can file a case directly if a child is missing, you don’t need to wait 24 hours. ]

[Sister is so careless, she didn’t even know he ran out? ]

[I don’t think there is a big problem with the sister, but little brother is to blame. The door was already locked. Who knew that her little brother was so naughty, and he didn’t make a sound when he ran out. ]

[Stop arguing, stop arguing, the person involved is already suffering enough, and the kings of strong mouths, rather than blame someone, might as well help find him. ]

The girl caught a glimpse of these comments from the corner of her eye, and she was still choked up even after trying to regain her composure. She immediately said, “I called the police as soon as I found out, and the police at the police station immediately opened a missing child case. My parents rushed back overnight after learning about this incident.”

Her parents didn’t blame her, even comforted her and told her not to worry, and only asked her to help find him. They posted notices around the community and forwarded missing person notices in their circle of friends.

Although her parents didn’t blame her, the girl felt terrified when she thought of what could happen to her little brother while he was lost and away from them.

They all knew that the longer the time a child was missing, the more dangerous the situation became.

She stayed up all night, looking for him outside all night, and didn’t even think about sleep until dawn.

She turned on her mobile phone before going to bed, and wanted to see if anyone had posted clues about her little brother on the Internet. Instead her roommate had forwarded a livestream link, and when she clicked on it, she was surprised to find that it was a divination livestreaming channel.

At the time, <Time Passes Swiftly Like Flowing Water> had just arrived at the Internet cafe. Under the guidance of the streamer, she found the man in red who was suspected to be her lying boyfriend, and there was a barrage of  ‘666666’2 in the comments.

She didn’t believe in these gods and ghosts at first, but when she saw so many people wanting to draw a lottery, she suddenly felt a sense of wanting to join too as well as an indefinable luck.

Why don’t she try it?

What if the host really had the touch of divine?

The girl stopped recollecting what happened and instead cast her memory back when she once visited a temple—she put her hands together and bowed in a weird way. “Daoist priest, oh no, Taoist nun, please help me find out where my brother is.”

An Rugu: “…”

An Rugu looked at her hands, and pointed out, “In fact, women are also called Daoist priests. And folding hands together is a Buddhist etiquette—Daoist etiquette is to clasp fists.”

The girl heard that and the movements of her hands froze—she was very embarrassed and she quickly put her hands away. She was very annoyed and, of course, she was angry with herself.

[Damn, she thinks she’s smart.]

[Isn’t this flattering the horse’s leg?]

[It’s over, the master must be angry!]

[It turns out that there is still such a difference, I’m sorry I didn’t know it. ]

[After watching the whole process, I digged out the palace grounds with my toes.3]

[It’s okay, it’s just a social death in front of more than a thousand of us. ]

[The host is furious: leave. ]

The audience thought that An Rugu would be angry, but in fact she was very calm.

Those who didn’t know were innocent. Besides, with the ideology of quietness and inaction, Daoist disciples were often very easy-going and didn’t much care about such trivial matters.

Seeing that the girl’s face was getting redder and redder, An Rugu immediately changed the topic and hit the point directly, “I have a solution for your little brother. Do you have a picture of him?”

  2. 666 in Chinese—or multiples of it—is a homophone for ‘smooth’ or ‘skilled’; online it means ‘amazing’. It’s probably why the high-energy gun salute that An Rugu charges for her divination is priced at 666 yuan. ↩︎
