At this time, two more people arrived in front of the company building.
Zhang Nuannuan’s gaze fell on the woman, and she quickly covered her mouth, astonishment flashing in her eyes. Wow, why did the Vice Chairman bring such a big beauty to the company?
And the Vice Chairman seemed to be quite respectful in his words, too. “This is our company’s building. Our main office is on the first to twelfth floors, and the Chairman’s Office is on the top floor.”
Zhang Nuannuan couldn’t hold back. She took out her phone, took a photo, and sent it to the company group chat: [Holy shit, look at this! The Vice Chairman brought back a beautiful woman!]
[I thought it would be a beauty before I clicked it, but I didn’t expect the beauty to look so good! Is this a new employee of the company? If so, I may never be late for work again.]
Zhang Nuannuan: [The Vice Chairman seems to be very polite to her. Maybe she is his relative.]
Just as everyone was guessing as to An Rugu’s identity, a comment suddenly appeared in the group chat of more than 500 people: [Fuck, I was thinking just now why she looked so familiar. She is a fortune-telling streamer on the Shark platform! There are screenshots of her livestream in the forum.]
Zhang Nuannuan and other employees of the company: “???”
The spread of news on the internet was very fast. After all, An Rugu was now a little famous. Not long after she arrived, the news of her appearance in Changjiu Real Estate Company was spread all over the Shark Forum.
At the same time, An Rugu and Changjiu Company were also on the hot search in Nancheng— #Metaphysics Star Seen At Changjiu Real Estate#—attracting a large number of people who eat melons.

An Rugu wasn’t at all aware that her fame was rising, so she simply followed Vice Chairman Sun into the company building where they met a young man wearing a black uniform who told them, “Sorry, the company is currently busy, please don’t enter.”
Vice Chairman Sun: “???”
Wasn’t this his company?
How was it that the company wouldn’t let him in when he just came back from a trip?
Vice Chairman Sun pointed at himself: “I am the Vice Chairman of this company, I’m not here to waste time. The person next to me is the metaphysics master I invited to deal with the hauntings.”
Hearing this, the uniformed man glanced at An Rugu, and his expression became cautious. He took out his mobile phone and called his superior. After hanging up the phone, he nodded, “Then please come in.”
An Rugu looked at the watch on the man’s wrist and praised it, “That’s a good watch.”
The man was taken aback when he heard the words, and instinctively raised his other hand to cover the watch, as if to hide it.
Vice Chairman Sun turned his head and took a look. “That watch is not a branded watch,” he said, a little confused.
The watch the man wore was a mechanical watch. It was very old and even looked a little worn.
Mr. Sun couldn’t help but think that the master’s vision doesn’t seem to be very good…
But on the contrary, the man now watched An Rugu with a completely different look in his eyes, and his tone was more polite than before, “Our captain is inside, come with me.”
In fact, his seemingly ordinary watch was a metaphysics weapon with many charms built into it. Once the button was pressed, the offensive charms inside will be activated, causing great damage to ghosts and other evil spirits.
Also inside the watch was a charm to conceal its breath, but An Rugu spotted it with just a glance.
This master seemed to have real abilities…
An Rugu walked in, and Vice Chairman Sun also wanted to follow inside, but the man held out his hand and blocked the door.
Vice Chairman Sun was stunned. When he regained his senses, he really felt aggrieved, “Why can she go in and I can’t? You— why do you treat us differently?!”
Obviously he was the Vice Chairman of this company!
The man explained with a normal expression, “For your own safety, it’s better not to get too close.”
When Vice Chairman Sun heard this, he had no choice but to leave angrily after all.
The man brought An Rugu before Li Wenzhong. After listening to the man whisper in his ears for a while, Li Wenzhong’s gaze on An Rugu changed in an instant.
He took the initiative to reach out to An Rugu and formally announced his identity, “Hello, I am Li Wenzhong, Captain of the First Division of the Special Cases Management Bureau.”
An Rugu shook hands with him, “I am the current master of Cloud Rise Temple.”
“Cloud Rise Temple?” Li Wenzhong thought about the better-known Daoist temples nearby, but he had no impression of Cloud Rise Temple at all, so he honestly said, “I’ve never heard of it.”
At this time, An Rugu didn’t forget to promote Cloud Rise Temple, “It is located in Tangchi Village, Nancheng. It is small in scale but quite effective. If you want to light some incense, you can go to Cloud Rise Temple.”
Li Wenzhong smiled. He thought that this person was really interesting, so he readily responded, “I wish you success.”
At this time, the two people who had gone in to investigate came back out, a compass in hand.
Lin Weiyu was frowning—it was the first time he encountered such a tricky ‘Loathing Victory’ technique. “The energy here is very chaotic. The moment the compass entered this place, it immediately failed. I really can’t find where the cache is.”
People need to use an object as a medium to implement the ‘Loathing Victory’ technique, such as puppets, long-bladed knives, nails and so on. If you can’t find the anchor, you won’t be able to break the ‘Loathing Victory’ technique.
Su Lai next to him was a little anxious, “The energy in this place is really chaotic. I can’t invite a deity at all. No one responded to me. I don’t know what to do.”
Li Wenzhong frowned when he heard this—he couldn’t believe the report.
Throughout the ages, specific metaphysics techniques have always been in the hands of specific metaphysics families and would never be passed on to outsiders. After the establishment of the Special Cases Management Bureau, it took a lot of effort and resources to recruit some talents from these metaphysics families.
Lin Weiyu and Su Lai were the best among them, and they almost never failed .
It seemed that this nightmare… would not be easy to handle.

T/N: A little bit of an etymology lesson—because that’s always fun, right? No? Just me? 😀
The thing the team was looking for is called ‘镇物’ ‘zhen wu’, ‘town’ and ‘object’, or ‘an object from town’ which did NOT make sense in this context at all haha orz. So I dug down and found wonderful things.
‘镇’ was originally a verb that meant ‘to press’ as in ‘to hold something down’, then it became a noun for ‘things that pressed something down’. From there it became ‘to restrain and control’, and then to ‘not panic and remain calm’, and then to ‘use force to maintain stability’, and then, extended logically, included the ‘use of the army to defend with force’. Eventually, it became something that the military guarded for safekeeping—which is why it also became a ‘marketplace’, and eventually a ‘town’.
What is an English word for something important enough it needs to be guarded? And in this case also ‘hidden’? I was going to go with ‘hoard’ but that connotes something large—like a treasury or a storehouse. So I went with ‘cache’, as that seemed the best among the choices in this context.
ADD-ON T/N: On hindsight, I could have just called it ‘cursed item’ and be done with it hahaha. But ‘zhen wu’ itself doesn’t mean cursed, so maybe… ‘artifact’?
