[ILivestreamDivination] Chapter 10.1 — The Visit

Three days later, Liu Sang took her daughter Jiang Jingjing up the sixty-six steps of Cloud Rise Mountain.

She readily admits that she did have some prejudices against the metaphysics industry before, and she didn’t want to see An Rugu engage in nonsensical things, so she always held the attitude of not needing to see what she didn’t want to see, and never went up to Cloud Rise Temple.

This was the first time she and her daughter have come to Cloud Rise Mountain.

When the two of them walked up the sixty-six steps and stepped onto the flat ground, a gust of cool wind came blowing in their faces, making them feel alert, and the irritability brought about by the scorching heat dissipated immediately.

Jiang Jingjing was very surprised. “Wow, this wind is cooler than the air conditioner at home, so comfortable!”

“Yes.” Liu Sang sniffed the smell in the air and said with emotion, “The air is also very good.”

The ancient Daoist temple was hidden under the ancient pine trees. There were no tourists. The atmosphere was calm and quiet, and everywhere was the refreshing scent of fresh grass and trees.

The Daoist temple was surrounded by trees, and the layout was simple and reasonable, which made people feel comfortable the moment they step inside.

Liu Sang even had regrets in her heart that this summer ‘resort’ was more elegant and cooler than the well-known summer resorts she had visited before. Had she known this before, she would have abandoned her prejudice and visited Cloud Rise Mountain earlier.

Even if it’s not to light incense, it’s fine to just enjoy the atmosphere and visit.

Liu Sang sighed at missed chances, then she took his daughter and walked towards the front doors of the Daoist temple. The solemn vermilion door was open.

As soon as they walked in, An Rugu greeted them—as if she knew they were coming.

After the loss of her daughter’s soul, Liu Sang’s impression of Cloud Rise Temple changed greatly. With a genuine smile on her face, and her voice warm and kind, Liu Sang said, “Ah, Auntie wants to burn incense this time.”

If it weren’t for An Rugu, her daughter would still be suffering from a strange disease. If she hadn’t been busy a few days ago, she would have wanted to come earlier.

“Good.”

An Rugu’s complexion did not change, but her heart was not as calm as it appeared on the surface. After all, these were her first guests since she began managing Cloud Rise Temple.

Liu Sang didn’t know much about lighting incense, so An Rugu taught her some procedures. After worshiping Sanqing first, An Rugu took her to worship Celestial Lord Siming.

Liu Sang went through the process according to An Rugu’s instructions, and inserted the incense into the incense burner—straight and tall.

After the incense finished burning, the air was filled with a faint fragrance, and the fragrance gradually dissipated when it touched the face.

For some reason, Liu Sang felt that her brain—which had been thinking too much due to teaching all year round—suddenly relaxed and her thinking became clearer.

It somewhat felt like drinking two cups of coffee: now she was so energetic that she could still correct 300 papers!

She felt the slightest strangeness coming from her body, and she couldn’t help opening her eyes wide. The gods of Cloud Rise Temple were indeed alive!

An Rugu rubbed the top of Jiang Jingjing’s head and asked, “How is your sleep these days?”

Jiang Jingjing replied excitedly, “I sleep very well. I had a dream last night that I got 100 points in the test and my mother bought me a mobile phone.”

An Rugu: “…”

Liu Sang was very strict with her child. Even if she gets 200 points in the test, she still won’t get a mobile phone.

An Rugu didn’t burst her sweet dreams. Her eyes fell on the five-emperor coins on Jiang Jingjing’s chest. “If you find it troublesome to wear, you can just put it in your room. Find a proper place to put it, and it will also be effective.”

Jiang Jingjing didn’t agree, holding the five-emperor coins as if it was a treasure and shook her little head. “No trouble, no trouble at all.”

Liu Sang, who had finished burning the incense, heard her words and teased. “Isn’t it that she couldn’t even bear to take it off for sleeping? She wears it all the time. And I saw her showing it off to her friends yesterday.”

Instead of feeling embarrassed, Jiang Jingjing smiled triumphantly.

In the past few days, through the words told by her grandfather and mother, she learned about what happened to her and what they themselves experienced. Jiang Jingjing told her friends about it the next day in vivid detail.

Which of her friends has lost their soul like she did, and which child has received the mysterious five-emperor coins from Sister An like Jiang Jingjing?

Now those little friends of hers all know that she has a treasure that was even more powerful than Barbie, and they all want to see her. Surpassing the little brother next door, she’d become the most popular person in the gang.

Jiang Jingjing’s heart was as sweet as eating honey; she was not willing to take off the five-emperor coins at all. She was indeed the coolest kid in Tangchi Village!

Seeing her daughter’s appearance, Liu Sang already knew what she was thinking and could only smile helplessly. Then she seemed to think of something—she turned her head to look at An Rugu, and kept scanning the empty Daoist temple.

Her attitude now was a 180-degree turn compared to before. Since An Rugu was so capable, and she also liked to do these matters, then Liu Sang hoped that the child could do better and better.

But while the ideal was sublime, the reality was indeed very sparse. This Daoist temple was truly deserted, doing far worse than those well-known Daoist temples she saw in the news.

Liu Sang brought up the topic gently, “Xiaogu, I heard from my father-in-law that you want to manage this Daoist temple. What are you going to do? Auntie doesn’t know people in this area, so I can’t introduce guests to you.”

An Rugu shook her head. Still calm, she turned around and looked towards the gate.

“The destined guest is here.”

T/N: In case you forgot, Sanqing or the 3 Holy Ones are the highest gods in the Daoist pantheon and are worshipped in all its temples. Celestial Lord Siming is the god of fate and is the particular deity revered in Cloud Rise Temple.

There’s gonna be A LOT of names—I should create a glossary.
