[ILivestreamDivination] Chapter 53.5 — What A Messed Up Family

As soon as he finished speaking, An Rugu closed her lips and did not continue reciting the incantation. The shadow of the Nine Phoenix behind her immediately disappeared.

A look of surprise flashed in her eyes. Sure enough, there was a ghost hidden deep inside the ring.

The ghost’s voice contained an imperceptible tremor: “Actually, I am a monk, and I attached my soul to the iron ring before I died.”

He had previously sealed the ring very well, thinking that no one could destroy it, but the Nine Phoenix’ terrifying momentum just now made the certainty in his heart gradually disappear.

He has never seen the Nine Phoenix Breaking Evil technique accomplished with such terrifying effects. What should he do if the ring was actually destroyed? Don’t be afraid of the ten thousand, but fear the one chance1.

Lin Weiyu and Su Lai were extremely surprised. She hurriedly came forward to ask.

“Are you the one who taught Chu Wen about holding a funeral for a living person?”

“He begged me to teach him. He said if I refused to teach him, he would kill me. I had no choice.”

Lin Weiyu said decisively, “Liar! The seal on the ring is so strong that even we couldn’t destroy it. What could an ordinary person do?”

Seeing that his lie was exposed, the ghost changed the topic, “I just said it wrong, let me continue. In fact, I was picked up by him. I thought he was very pitiful, so I taught him some methods. I never thought he would use it to harm others.”

An Rugu frowned when she heard this. This ghost was full of lies and was simply stubborn.

She directly put her hands together and began reciting the incantation of the Nine Phoenix Destroying Evil technique again. “Nine phoenix soaring, destroying evil from the ten directions, a golden boy to guide them, a jade maiden to serve them…”

Wind and earth again rose in the field. Seeing that the nine-headed bird was again taking shape, the ghost trembled, and he had no choice but to tell them his past life and background.

It turned out that he was once an evil cultivator. His evil spells were destroyed by some Daoists practitioners, and his body suffered severe backlash. He died at a very young age. He was really unwilling to die like this, so he looked for a secret method, hid himself in the ring, and blocked off the secrets of heaven, so that even the yin envoys could not find him.

Over time, the iron ring that was originally well hidden was stolen, resold, and eventually found itself in an antique shop—where it was picked up by Chu Wen.

The ghost suddenly stopped talking.

But An Rugu seemed to be aware of his plans, “You want to take over his body?”

It was obviously a question, but her tone was certain.

Because the ghost was worried that his soul would be captured by yin envoys, he didn’t dare to come out of the ring. He needed to seize someone else’s body to have a body for his own.

Lin Weiyu and Su Lai’s eyes flashed with deep astonishment when they heard this.

“No wonder someone as dark as you would deign to teach someone.

“Let me guess… you didn’t want to let Chu Wen deceive ordinary people. You specifically urged him deceive rich people. Rich people have more connections, and Chu Wen’s spells could easily be exposed by the practitioners that the wealthy victims could invite. What you actually want is for Chu Wen’s three yang fires to go out and for his qi to get damaged, make him suffer a huge backlash, until his soul is only hanging to his body by a thread—then you can take over his body.”

The ghost really wanted to refute, but he was speechless because that was indeed what he thought.

Lin Weiyu clicked her tongue and marveled, “When they interrogated Chu Wen, he said that you were a grandfather who guided him, and he was very afraid that you would be destroyed. If he knew that you planned to take over his body, he would probably hate you to death.”

She decided to tell Chu Wen this news when she returned to headquarters.

She couldn’t kill evil people without official permission, but she could kill evil people’s hearts…

After listening to what he said, An Rugu already made a plan in her heart. This was a persistent and extremely evil person—he has been devoured by evil spells until his lamp ran out of oil. Allowing him to exist in this world would only bring disadvantages and no benefits.

Lin Weiyu and Su Lai saw that they could not get any more information from the ghost in the ring, so they agreed to An Rugu’s recommendation as usual.

“No!” the ghost said quickly.

Based on the bad things he has done in the past, if he was caught by yin envoys, there would be no chance of reincarnation, and he would definitely go to Hell directly.

This was why he would rather hide in the ring than go to the Underworld.

However, despite the ghost begging for mercy, An Rugu still chose to exorcise him.

“The human world is not where you should be. You’d better go to Hell and repent.”

The man’s screams were endless, resounding through the air.

An Rugu rubbed her ears and sighed softly.

He had known very well that this would happen—why did he bother doing evil in the first place? It was really contradictory for someone who was a spiritual practitioner and naturally knew about the existence of retribution but nevertheless still think that he had a way to escape it.

This was very similar to Wu De who did evil and still prayed to god and buddha.

… …

After the matter was settled, An Rugu asked curiously, “How is that Wu De doing?”

When Lin Weiyu thought about this matter, she sighed, “He is being interrogated now and keeps making excuses, but the evidence against him is solid, so I’m afraid he will be sentenced to death.”

She also didn’t expect that Wu De, who was so famous in Nancheng, was actually a gangster before.

There were many lives involved. Even though the matter back then was a gangster attack and the people killed were themselves not clean, it was still murder. Not to mention his many other crimes such as extortion. The punishment for these many crimes must be the death penalty.

“I heard that it was his son who reported it,” Lin Weiyu said, “and his son also provided the evidence. He embodied the saying ‘great righteousness destroys families2’.”

FOOTNOTES:

  1. Don’t be afraid of the ten thousand, but fear the one chance.  Even if something happens ten thousand times, as long as you are prepared for it, there’s no need to fear; but that unexpected one-in-ten-thousand chance could spoil all your meticulous planning ↩︎
  2. Great righteousness destroys families. This is a 4-character idiom which means to place righteousness before family; to be ready to punish one’s relatives if justice calls for it. ↩︎
