[7YrSecretLove] Chapter 49.2 — I’m Your Brother-in-Law

Luo Yu suddenly remembered: wasn’t he the handsome man who made way for her on the stairs of the rental house? The one who lived above her cousin’s apartment?

Her cousin would probably like a man with such an imposing aura.

It was a pity that this first-class grass already has a master1. It seemed that he was accompanying his girlfriend to try on wedding dresses.

Her phone stopped vibrating. Less than two seconds later, He Xu sent a message, and then he was calling again.

Luo Yu wanted to drop the call, but his text contained a threat: [“Answer the phone, or I will go to your office tomorrow to have a good talk with you in front of your colleagues. Choose one.”]

He was really capable of doing the ridiculous move of going to her office tomorrow to block her in front of other people. Luo Yu gave in and could only answer the phone; she turned towards the bathroom.

This guy really couldn’t afford to play2!

Didn’t she just sleep with him twice?

… …

Jiang Shenghe didn’t see Luo Yu. He finished reading the magazine and started reading it again.

When he was reading through it for the third time, the staff finally came out to invite him inside, telling him that Luo Qi’s new hair and makeup style was finished.

The door opened: Luo Qi had her back to the door and was reflected sideways in the mirror.

Her long hair was pinned up, her neck was slender, and her soft waist line was vaguely visible through the gauze of the dress.

This wedding dress was not as layered and grand as the other wedding dresses she tried on. The silhouette was slender but the outline was just enough to give off an elegant and dynamic feeling.

For those who were not familiar with Luo Qi, their first impression of her would be that she was cold and difficult to get along with. She naturally made people feel distant, but she had a true gentleness in her bones.

Luo Qi saw him in the mirror and smiled.

He had never seen her so radiant.

Luo Qi turned around and walked towards him lightly holding the hem of dress, “Husband, what do you think? Does it look good?”

In Jiang Shenghe’s eyes, everything else but her faded away.

“Very beautiful.” He took a step forward and lightly wrapped one arm around her, careful not to touch the wedding dress. He lowered his head to hers, gently touching the hair on her forehead with his chin.

He was restrained and respectful.

Before the other people in the room could react, he already let go and kept an appropriate distance from her.

Hugging in front of everyone would normally make the other people present feel uncomfortable, but oddly enough, the staff deeply felt that didn’t get enough of this hug. The makeup artist regretted that her phone was left on the dressing table and she didn’t have time to snap a picture.

Luo Qi handed her phone to Jiang Shenghe, “Take some pictures for me.”

The staff said, “There is a real-scene corner on the first floor, and the shooting effect there is much better.”

The store had especially arranged a photography area so that clients could commemorate the first time they tried on their wedding dress.

Luo Qi found it troublesome, “It’s the same as taking pictures here.”

But Jiang Shenghe never found it troublesome when it came to matters about Lou Qi, “Let’s go to the photography corner to take pictures. I didn’t help you put on this wedding dress. I will help you take some photos.”

When they got to the photography area, the shop owner and the wedding dress designer happened to come over.

The shop owner came here to personally receive Jiang Shenghe. However, there was a serious traffic jam on the road and he was an hour late.

“Mr. Jiang, I’m sorry.”

Just as they were chatting, they were interrupted by the designer who exclaimed in surprise, “How can this be?”

The designer couldn’t believe it and stared wide-eyed at Luo Qi’s wedding dress.

It had taken her more than half a year to design this wedding dress, and she spent countless moments looking for inspiration. After the design was completed, it was sewn—stitch by stitch—by hand. The accessories were extremely expensive, costing more than one million yuan. However, none of the customers liked it, and it was eventually removed from the shelves.

What hurt was not the money she spent to make this but the cold water thrown on her passion.

She turned to the staff and urged them, “Bring the camera, I’ll take some pictures of the fairy.”

She was so excited that she forgot to introduce herself.

The makeup artist told Luo Qi, “She is the designer of your wedding dress. You didn’t see it in the system earlier because it has been removed from the shelves. It seemed this was too expensive and could not move people’s hearts. Don’t mind it if she is too excited.”

Luo Qi smiled and said, “It’s okay. I completely understand. I’ll ask my husband to take a few pictures for me first.”

Jiang Shenghe exchanged pleasantries with the shop owner but didn’t forget his job as a part-time photographer, “Excuse me, I will take some photos of my wife.”

But when Jiang Shenghe really came to take her pictures, Luo Qi suddenly couldn’t pose properly in front of his camera, “Just take a few random pictures.”

“There’s no need to pose. You will look good even if you just stand still.”

“…”

Beauty was truly in the eye of the beholder.

… …

Jiang Shenghe took photos for her then stood aside to look at the photos he had taken.

The designer was an amateur photographer. She often took photos of her own works and knew how to adjust for light and shadow.

Just as she was taking a few photos, a group of people came down the wooden stairs that lead to the second floor where the private fitting rooms were. The clients in the second fitting room had finished trying on their bridesmaid dresses and were now going back downstairs to the lobby.

Several people stopped on the stairs; they saw what they thought was a professional shoot and they worried that they would affect the photoshoot when they passed by.

They watched the shoot and whispered, “Is this a celebrity endorsement?”

“I don’t know her. She should be a model or an unknown actor.”

“She’s so good-looking, she will become famous sooner or later.”

A colleague bumped Luo Yu with her elbow, “Is she as good-looking as your cousin?”

Luo Yu often waxed poetic about her cousin’s beauty yet didn’t show them any photos. It was reasonable for them to suppose that Luo Yu was only bragging.

“Hey, are you listening?”

Seeing that Luo Yu was staring at the photoshoot in a daze, a colleague gently tugged her earlobe.

Luo Yu didn’t answer; her nose felt incredibly sour. It turned out that her cousin had lied to her when she said she was on a business trip—she was actually working as a model part-time in secret.

Second Uncle’s family still owed more than 9 million yuan, and who knew when they could pay it off with her cousin’s salary. It must be Eldest Aunt who was pressing for the debt to be paid again, and the pressure this time must be too great, otherwise her cousin would not work part-time.

It was a pity that Luo Yu herself didn’t have much ability; her salary was barely enough for herself, and she couldn’t help at all.

… …

The designer finally paused the shooting and looked at the photos she had taken. The group on the stairs took the opportunity to go down and hurried past the photography corner.

Only Luo Yu walked very slowly, “You guys go to the car and wait for me while I go to the bathroom first.”

Once her colleagues had left, Luo Yu called out to Luo Qi, “Older sister.”

Luo Qi was so immersed in joy that she didn’t even notice the people on the stairs just now.

A surprised Luo Qi exclaimed,  “Yubao, why are you here?”

“I’m a bridesmaid for a colleague. I came here today to try on bridesmaid dresses.”

Luo Yu’s heart was upset, “How many part-time modeling jobs have you done? Are you tired of having to take photos every day?”

Luo Qi: “…”

Standing to one side, the designer said to Jiang Shenghe, “I’ll take some couple photos for you.”

Only then did Luo Yu notice that the man with incredible good looks was also nearby. It turned out that he was a model and was playing the role of the groom, “You guys continue with your work first. We can talk after you finish your shooting.”

Luo Qi: “…”

Because of Luo Yu’s misunderstanding, Luo Qi kept wanting to laugh as she and Jiang Shenghe took couple pictures.

It was not convenient to say some things in front of outsiders so Luo Qi said, “Yubao, let your colleagues go back first, and you can have lunch with us later.”

She gave Jiang Shenghe a look and went upstairs to change out of the wedding dress.

Luo Yu called Jiang Shenghe aside and asked in a low voice, “Are you a male model? Did you introduce my older sister to work here part-time?”

“…”

What a mess this was.

Jiang Shenghe smiled and said, “I’m not a model, I’m your brother-in-law. Your older sister and I got our marriage certificate on the 25th of last month. I’m accompanying her to try on wedding dresses today.”

Fuck me!

Luo Yu was so shocked she almost shrieked this out loud.

How could her cousin have had a flash marriage?

Could it be that this guy was like He Xu, and he also couldn’t afford to play?

“How long have you known my older sister?”

“Seven years and eight months.”

“…”

Luo Yu’s thoughts were so scrambled right now that she couldn’t even find words to respond.

“You… what… how do you know my older sister? I have never heard my older sister mention you.”

Jiang Shenghe explanation was simple and direct, “I have appeared in your older sister’s circle of friends. The person in the photo taken from behind and the one in the oil painting is me.”

Oh, it turned out to be her colleague.

He had helped her cousin avoid rotten peach blossoms.3

“Hello, brother-in-law, my name is Luo Yu.” Only then did she remember to introduce herself.

“Jiang Shenghe.”

Luo Yu was, of course, not unfamiliar with this name, but she was still in shock so she said something without thinking, “Ah, you have the same name as her boss.”

“I’m that boss.”

Fuck.

T/N: Just to be clear, Luo Yu is Luo Qi’s younger paternal cousin. But as per tradition, she always refers to Luo Qi as her ‘older sister’ and Luo Qi’s husband is, of course, the ‘husband of her older sister’.

FOOTNOTE:

  1.  The first class/famous grass has a master, it means the beautiful man already has someone in his heart—a girlfriend or wife. The ‘grass’ in this case is similar to how a school hunk/heartthrob is called ‘grass’. ↩︎
  2.  Couldn’t afford to play, this is an internet slang that refers to someone who has a disproportionately negative reaction to something simple, like when you play a round of games with friends and they get angry and embarrassed from losing.   ↩︎
  3. Peach blossoms refer to lovers or suitors. The rotten ones are those who are untrue or, in this case, unwanted. ↩︎
