[DayTheEngagementWasBroken] Chapter 17.2 — Mr. He, Please Take Me Away

The evening went on, and soon it got closer to midnight; it was time to cut the cake.

That night alone, the private box that He Ran and his friends occupied consumed 200,000 yuan worth of wine. Lu Wan made more than 30,000 yuan on commission, all without saying a word, which should be enough to solve all of her urgent money needs——

Oh, how did Gou An know that Lu Wan had pressing financial difficulties?

There was no need for any plot hints at all. One could even guess it with just their toes. If she was not desperate for money, Lu Wan’s character would not voluntarily appear in a place like Endless Night—this place seemed to be completely incompatible with her.

If even Gou An could guess this kind of thing, then of course ‘others’ could too.

He he.

After three rounds of drinking, almost everyone in the private box were a little drunk. Gou An herself had consumed half a decanter of whiskey earlier. But then everyone saw the deepening drunken blush on her fair face, and no one dared to give her any more.

She was relieved and sat quietly, smiling and acting as a vase while they continued to play games and drink…

More than 200,000 yuan worth of drinks.

It was enough for these bastards to drink to death.

Gou An left the drinking battlefield early, which made it easier for her to notice things. Tonight, although He Ran seemed to be having a good time, he was actually evading everyone’s toasts and never drank a drop of alcohol from beginning to end.

This was not a sign of someone in a good mood at all, and today was even his birthday—so what reason did he have not to drink?

Of course, it was to stay sober at all times and to stay alert enough.

What was he being vigilant for?

Gou An raised her hand to comb through her hair; she didn’t believe that Lu Wan just appeared before them tonight at Endless Night for no reason.

She waited quietly.

Sure enough, at twelve o’clock, after singing the happy birthday song and cutting the cake, what was supposed to happen still happened——

It was just after blowing out the candles, and the lights in the private box were not yet turned on. Someone who was too drunk said, either intentionally or accidentally, “Lu Wan, go cut the cake, what are you doing just standing there?”

Everyone was laughing and joking, and no one thought it was wrong to ask Lu Wan—a private box waiter who was no one—to cut the cake. Lu Wan hesitated, she looked up and saw that He Ran was looking at her expressionlessly across the cake.

She subconsciously shrank her shoulders and looked at Young Master He for help but realized that the other party didn’t care about her.

She could only pick up the plastic knife used to cut the cake and prepare to cut it. But at this time, someone shoved her from behind. She screamed. She was leaning over the cake and her center of gravity was unstable—half of her face got smooshed into the cake!!

She was suddenly drenched in the overwhelming sweetness of butter and fruits. She normally liked sweets, but now her head began to pound and the scent made her want to vomit, her nerves completely shot—

She didn’t care anymore that there was white cream on her face and even her soft, long black hair was stained by it or that she was a mess.

Holding the table with one hand, she awkwardly got up from the cake and just wanted to turn around and leave.

Maybe seeing He Ran treat her coldly all evening made some people relax their vigilance.

Or maybe the plot just required the existence of idiots without eyes.

Seeing that she was about to leave, a certain second-generation ancestor who was sitting on the sofa reached out and grabbed Lu Wan’s wrist, saying in a nonchalant tone, “Don’t leave! You’ve ruined the cake, don’t you think you have to pay for it! Come on, come on!”

The girl, whose legs were shaking with fear, suddenly fell into the man’s arms!

The man took advantage of the situation and hugged Lu Wan’s fragile waist. “This ge bought the cake. It cost more than 3,000 yuan. How could you be so careless—now tell me, how much should you compensate me for?”

There were ripples in this person’s voice.

Gou An frowned slightly and prepared to stand up, holding on to the sofa. She was just about to scold him for going too far—can he please restrain himself a little and stop being so vulgar? Has he never seen a woman before…

At this time, the little deer in his arms had turned pale, screamed, pushed his arms open and rushed out of the door!

Seeing this, Gou An silently grabbed He Jinxing’s suit jacket, which had not been put to use all night, shook it out and held it in front of her like a shield.

Sure enough, the next second, there was a loud ‘crack’ and wine bottle fragments scattered everywhere.

… …

The door of the private room was left wide open, and the deer had rushed out without a trace.

Sitting in his original position, not having moved at all, He Ran held a broken wine bottle in his hand and asked the second-generation ancestor expressionlessly, “How much does it cost? Can I transfer it to you? WeChat or Alipay?”

For the second time tonight, the private box with KTV was as quiet as a cemetery at midnight.

Only the cold wind blew.

The VIP manager heard the commotion from a distance and knew that something was wrong. He rushed from the end of the corridor to try and save the situation. He passed Lu Wan—covered with cream, her head hung low, wiping away tears.

When he entered the box, he saw a mess on the floor.

The manager called the housekeeper to come in and clean up the spilled wine and clear away the broken bottle fragments.

A group of people rushed in, and the box suddenly seemed a little crowded. Gou An took the opportunity to exit the box without anyone noticing.

She found a bathroom at the end of the corridor and washed her face.

She splashed cold water on her drunken face, but it had little effect. Her face was hot and flushed, full of alcohol. She looked in the mirror and looked at the water droplets rolling down her fair cheeks, the corners of her eyes had grown red.

Gou An pinched her soft cheek——

It’s okay, don’t be afraid.

Gou An.

This was not your fault.

It’s not like you were the one who touched the heroine’s waist without permission, and the wine bottle didn’t smash on your face.

She took a deep breath, rubbed her tear-swollen eyes, turned around and walked out. As she walked, she took out her mobile phone and prepared to ask the family driver to pick her up…

When she opened the door to the corridor, she heard someone sobbing softly.

After a pause, Gou An slowly pushed the bathroom door open and carefully stuck out half of her head.

She saw that the girl who had just rushed out of the box in distress did not go far for some reason. At this moment, she was wearing a maid’s outfit, exuding a sweet and creamy fragrance, her shoulders were shaking weakly, and a man who was much taller than her stood front of her—

She softly sobbed like a kitten.

With her hands tightly clutched against his shirt, the man stood there stood motionless, his back to the light.

Gou An could only see his broad shoulders, narrow waist, and slender legs, just a vague outline.

The embarrassed girl buried her face deeply in the man’s arms and said softly, infinitely fragile, “Mr. He, please take me away.”

T/N: Sometimes I think Gou An suffers from PTSD from her ‘nightmare’. The novel calls her an awakened character and the dream that she had a prophetic one, but sometimes she acts as if she really lived through it. It’s not just her ‘knowing’ what will happen, she bears emotional scars from having experienced it. For me, she’s better termed a ‘regressor’ than an ‘awakened’ character.

P.S. It’s my birthday today. Go, me! (´ ᴗ`✿)
