[DayTheEngagementWasBroken] Chapter 17.1 — Mr. He, Please Take Me Away

The confrontation lasted a few seconds. In the deathly silence, Zhou Yanji was the first to react. He turned his head and looked at Gou An, his eyes flickering over her face.

When Zhou Yanji turned his head, his movement was a little too big. Everyone else seemed to suddenly awaken, and they also looked over at Gou An.

It was a pity that only Zhou Yanji was truly worried about her;  all the others were watching the fun and even feeling a bit of schadenfreude.

In the past days, it had been obvious to everyone how He Ran favored Lu Wan. Not only did He Ran hang around her every day, but he also immediately stood up for her when someone gossiped about her. They all said that Young Master He has changed. He had become Lu Wan’s licking dog. If he was told to go east, he would not go west.

Yes, yes, how could he so easily let go like this? Last night, He Ran made an official announcement on WeChat for no apparent reason. Something must have happened behind the scenes, right?

Everyone was excited and speculating in their hearts, but just when they thought something interesting was going to happen, Zhou Yanji stood up and called Gou An’s name.

Gou An looked up at him and realized that he wanted to take her away. His lips began to move but before he could say anything, He Ran unexpectedly kicked Zhou Yanji.

The young man who had just stood up was kicked back to the sofa.

“Not everyone’s here yet, so we’ll open the drinks later.”

He Ran said this to the girl who was holding the trolley of foreign wine, his face expressionless, his tone natural, as if he and this person didn’t know each other and have never met before tonight.

Lu Wan’s face visibly paled. She was left holding the bottle opener, not knowing whether to go out or wait nearby, looking at a loss.

While everyone was looking at each other, He Ran casually handed the opened bottle of wine to a certain second-generation ancestor who was a good drinker and then turned around and sat back on the sofa as if nothing had happened——

It seemed that he was not prepared to ask why Lu Wan appeared at Endless Night tonight.

The private room quickly returned to its initial liveliness. The boys gathered together to talk about the usual topics they could talk about endlessly, such as games, motorcycles, and basketball. The original low pressure in the air had disappeared completely.

He Ran pushed Zhou Yanji away and leaned closer to Gou An himself.

Before she had time to react, the young man’s heavy head was already lying on her shoulder. “Young wife, get me a customized sticker from Taobao. I want to put your name on the helmet you gave me.”

His voice was neither loud nor quiet, but Lu Wan would inevitably hear it from where she was.

Gou An: “…”

Never has she seen such a natural way of using someone as a gun.

From today on, don’t call me a ‘vicious supporting actress’, call me ‘assault rifle’.

Specializing in targetting the heroine’s small heart and where one main hit leaves everything in tatters.

Lu Wan stood huddled in the corner, her fretting fingers having already made her skirt hopelessly creased and twisted.

The young man leaning on Gou An’s shoulder had lazily stretched out his long legs. His eyes were casually locked on a darkened corner of the room, his long eyelashes drooping, and god only knew what what he was thinking.

The men in the He family were all good-looking.

It was a pity that Gou An couldn’t be bothered with any of them, these Sons of Fortune.

She hooked He Ran’s chin with a finger. He Ran seemed a little surprised. When he raised his eyes to meet Gou An’s gaze, there was still confusion in his eyes——

But right now, his head was leaning against her shoulder, and their faces were so close that when he raised his eyes, he could see her pale lips up close and her fair skin was so thin and clear that no pores could be seen.

He Ran was stunned for a moment, but he soon came back to his senses and let out a ‘hmm’ sound.

“If you want to find out why she’s here, go ahead and ask her,” Gou An said calmly in a voice that only the two of them could hear, “Don’t keep acting here with me.”

He Ran stared at her and was silent for a few seconds.

Just when Gou An thought that Young Master He had been exposed and was about to get angry as a result, he just moved his thin lips and said, “No.”

“?”

Gou An was really surprised for a few seconds because she realized that He Ran’s tone did not sound like he was lying.

There was no basis for her realization; it was just her subconscious judgment.

Of course, her judgment had never been good.

In her daze, He Ran took her hand and squeezed it, “I may have been shaken before and thought it was better to terminate our engagement, but after thinking about it, I really can’t bear to let go of it… We’ve had this relationship for so long.

“My uncle reminded me that a person can’t have both.” He paused, “So when I posted on WeChat to call you my young wife, I made a choice.”

Gou An was completely stunned for a few seconds by these words.

So the male protagonist said this? That was quite moral of him.

At this time, a certain cat—that had been immediately sterilized the moment it ended its life as a stray and has never actually been in love in its life—began to meow and express its opinions.

[Jiaojiao: It has nothing to do with moral integrity. How can He Jinxing take the initiative to worry about the feelings of his juniors? Is the stock market no longer fun or is Wall Street perhaps collapsing?]

[Jiaojiao: He said this just to shake up the male supporting character.]

[Jiaojiao: If the male supporting character is not eliminated, how then can he take the lead and compete for the heroine’s affections?]

Gou An:……

Gou An: Yes.JPG.

Gou An: As expected, there is no good person in the He family.

Gou An sighed in her heart.

“Young wife ah,” He Ran called out again, tugging at her hand. “Don’t be in a daze, did I surprise you too much? Are you happy? I promise not to quarrel with you in the future, okay? If you are happy, call out ‘husband’ so I can hear it, too, okay?”

“…”

What the—! Get out of here!

Gou An had a dull look on her face and said nothing.

The lights in the private box were dim, and the KTV was turned on playing requested songs. The place was a noisy mess. At this time, the other people in the room had no idea what Gou An and He Ran were saying to each other. Everyone could only see that they were very close to each other——

When He Ran said something, Gou An tilted her head towards him as if to hear his words clearly.

Then Gou An pushed his face away with a wooden expression. The rejected young master smiled instead of being angry.

The two seemed quite intimate.

And from the beginning to the end, Young Master He didn’t even look at where Lu Wan stood in the corner.

From the Day the Engagement was Broken translated by Maela @ whitemoonlighttranslations.com

T/N: He Ran doesn’t call her ‘lao po‘ which is the usual endearment for ‘wife’ because that literally translates to ‘(my) old woman’. He calls Gou An 媳妇儿 or xifur, which means ‘young married woman’ or in this case ‘(my) young wife’.

I will add more advance chapters later today. Thank you for your support! ☺️
