[ContrastTeamInADadW/BabyShow] Chapter 84.1 — Knowledge Is Power

After leaving the shantytown, Lin Cheng walked about two kilometers and found the parts processing factory that Huang Yang mentioned.

Huang Yang was the repairman who lived next to Lin Cheng and Lin Momo’s shed.

He was 24 years old this year, and his hometown was in a small county in City A, Province M.

Before coming here, Huang Yang worked as an apprentice in a car repair shop in his hometown. He came to this city a few years ago to meet some netizens he met online.

But it was a scam after all. After being deceived by these netizens, Huang Yang felt ashamed to return to his hometown, so he simply stayed here.

Relying on his previous experience as an apprentice in a car repair shop, Huang Yang would go to some repair shops to do odd jobs during the day or be temporarily dispatched to some construction sites to help repair machinery, but his income was much less than those of professional repairmen.

As a result, whenever he would hear that there was work that required unloading and moving equipment at night, Huang Yang would also go there, and from time to time he could also pick up some machinery installation work.

Lin Cheng came here now because Huang Yang had told him that the processing plant had a batch of equipment that needed to be unloaded tonight.

Lin Cheng went up to the processing plant and explained his purpose to the guard on duty. One of them took Lin Cheng to a door on the side of the factory.

At this time, about a dozen other people were already standing inside waiting to unload the goods.

Huang Yang was among them.

Seeing Lin Cheng, Huang Yang came over and said, “Brother Cheng, you’ve come.

“I heard that another batch of large modular equipment is going to be moved into the factory today. There should be eleven or twelve units,” Huang Yang took the initiative to explain the situation.

“Such equipment usually comes in several pieces. Each piece is composed of several parts and is already fully assembled. When unloading, you can just move the whole piece down. It’s not difficult, but you have to be careful during the process.”

“Although it’s a little troublesome, this kind of pre-assembled goods can be moved quickly, and the money paid is much more than those of moving loose goods,” Huang Yang said to Lin Cheng.

Lin Cheng nodded and asked, “When will the goods arrive?”

“It usually arrives here around 11 o’clock in the evening. Let me take a look…” Huang Yang glanced at the time on his phone and said, “It’s 11:25 now, it should be soon.”

As soon as Huang Yang finished speaking, he saw the side door of the processing plant open, and a truck hauling equipment could be seen approaching.

Two factory workers directed the truck through the factory gate.

When the truck stopped, the supervisor came over and organized the dozen or so people standing there to start unloading.

“There are a total of 12 pieces of equipment in this batch. Each piece of equipment is divided into 3 boxes all numbered accordingly. You need to move them in order later. Don’t make a mistake. Each person will be paid 8 yuan for each full equipment unloaded.”

“If there is no questions, we can start,” the supervisor shouted to everyone. She paused and emphasized, “Everyone, be careful, these equipment are not light. When you carry them, be steady and don’t tilt them. Absolutely no bumping!”

“Let’s go over, Brother Cheng,” Huang Yang said to Lin Cheng.

After more than a dozen people arrived at the back of the truck, they did a simple division of labor: a few people would drag the entire cargo out of the truck according to the numbers on the box, while others worked with the mechanical unloading vehicle to escort the equipment into the factory.

Soon, the three boxes of the first equipment had been moved down.

“Where should these be moved? Should they be piled outside first or moved directly inside?” One of the temporary movers asked the factory staff while patting the boxes.

“The equipment that was unloaded first should be moved inside first,” a staff member said, and then directed several porters to move the boxes to the innermost area of the factory.

The porters moved the three boxes to the designated space and quickly prepared to remove the outer packaging boxes to prepare for assembly and installation.

At this moment, the supervisor’s assistant ran over and stopped everyone.

“Everyone, wait a minute, this package can’t be opened yet!”

“What’s going on?” The supervisor looked at the assistant and asked.

The assistant looked at the outer box of the equipment then looked through the information on his mobile phone again before saying, “It seems that the packaging of these equipment is directly connected to its stability and has positioning clips. They cannot be unboxed willy nilly. After being opened, it would be very troublesome to re-adjust the position of the equipment if they are wrongly positioned.”

“Are you saying that we have to determine first where all these components will go before we can start unboxing them?” the supervisor asked.

“Yes, that should be the case.”

At this time, a porter standing on the side spoke, “But these things are hidden in the box, and there are no explanations or anything. You can’t tell which end is which and which one should placed where.”

The porter’s words made sense, and the on-site supervisor and several factory workers were silent for a few seconds.

At the other end, several other porters had already unloaded several boxes of the second equipment from the truck and were now moving them into the factory.

“Those outside, please wait, don’t move boxes inside anymore,” the supervisor stopped the porters at the door of the factory. She frowned and muttered, “We haven’t finished installing the first one yet. We should wait until that’s finished before the second and third equipment are moved in. If everything is moved in all at once, how can we adjust if there is not enough space?”

After saying that, the supervisor looked at the assistant next to her with dissatisfaction and said accusingly, “Since there is such an issue, why didn’t you think about it earlier?”

“I…” the assistant looked embarrassed.

T/N: Last year we bought a new refrigerator and the box did say which was the front and which side was up. I suppose it would be a hassle if the delivery guys back then had unboxed our refrigerator and its doors were facing the wall instead of its back—they’d have to turn it around and the space in the kitchen was limited. I’m imagining something like that was happening here, except more complicated.
