[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 37.2 — Lean In His Arms

Qin Moling had a meeting in the morning. The meeting ran late, and he just arrived at the company’s executive dining hall.

Zhong Yanyue also attended the same meeting and went to have lunch with him. If she hadn’t wanted to inquire about something, she wouldn’t have chosen to sit with him for lunch.

Qin Moling didn’t talk while eating, which made her feel depressed and made food difficult to digest.

But she had heard that Jian Hang had resigned.

Remembering that Qin Moling had left the position of General Manager of the Fourth Division vacant, Zhong Yanyue was unsure what Qin Moling was thinking.

“Why did Jian Hang suddenly leave Yinlin? Was it because of Mrs. Gao’s incident that she didn’t want to stay there anymore?”

Qin Moling’s chopsticks paused, and he raised his eyes to look at Zhing Yanyue.

He didn’t know what the situation was. Jian Hang never mentioned a word to him about her resignation.

“Who did you hear this from?”

Zhong Yanyue saw the astonishment in Qin Moling’s eyes, but she never thought that this was due to his ignorance of this matter. She only thought that Qin Moling was surprised that her information was so timely.

She said, “I know a few people in the venture capital circle, and one of them has a good relationship with Yinlin’s senior management. This matter came up in casual chat.” Jian Hang’s resignation was not considered a secret in Yinlin, and the senior management did not deliberately hide it.

Qin Moling suppressed all doubts and emotions and asked, “Someone asked you to ask me about Jian Hang’s plans after her resignation?”

“No, I’m just curious.” Zhong Yanyue said, “Any venture capital firm that wants to poach Jian Hang would definitely go directly to her instead of asking me, otherwise the dish would already be cold1.”

She didn’t mention the empty position of General Manager of the Fourth Division; it would be overstepping if she did.

Qin Moling didn’t answer, and she couldn’t ask more questions.

Later, they just talked about Qin Xing’s birthday party. It was Qin Xing’s birthday at the end of the month. He held the party a week in advance every year, and this year should be no different.

Qin Xing loved playing and having fun, and his birthday parties were always grand affairs, like turning 18 all over again.

Qin Moling didn’t take a nap today because otherwise he wouldn’t have enough time to eat, but he wasn’t sleepy at all.

He has been thinking about Jian Hang’s resignation.

He asked Secretary Gao to come to his office and told her, “Check the relationship between Tan Moxing and Tan Feng.”

“You’re talking about… which Tan Feng?”

Secretary Gao was not sure which ‘Tan Feng’ the boss meant. They were some people with the same name.

Qin Moling clarified, “Tan Feng in the venture capital circle.”

“Okay, I’ll do it right away.”

She asked again, “Is there anything else?”

Qin Moling originally wanted Secretary Gao to confirm whether Jian Hang had really resigned from Yinlin Capital, but he couldn’t say the words.

He didn’t want his subordinates to know that his relationship with Jian Hang was just so-so.

“Nothing else,” he said, telling his secretary to go back to work.

Once Secretary Gao left, Qin Moling called Jiang Shenghe.

There were some things that was hard to say to subordinates, but he could tell Jiang Shenghe.

Jiang Shenghe had a clear mirror in heart2 about the state of Qin Moling’s marriage to Jian Hang.

“I heard that Jian Hang resigned. Help me find out if it’s true.”

Jiang Shenghe: “… your wife resigned, and you want me to ask around if it’s true?”

Qin Moling laughed at himself, “I am a failure as a husband. Can you help me now?”

Jiang Shenghe was speechless, “If you want to know, just ask Jian Hang yourself.”

Qin Moling had to consider Jian Hang’s mindset. He was actually reflecting on what he did not do well enough that made her unwilling to even mention to him something as big as her resigning from her job.

“She didn’t mention this matter to me. If I asked directly, it would embarrass her.”

Jiang Shenghe could only reply, “Okay, I’ll ask around now.”

Qin Moling actually had many channels he could use to find out, but it was faster to find Jiang Shenghe who could solve the problem with just one phone call.

Before, when Qin Moling was worried that Jian Hang would be held accountable by Yinlin’s board of directors because of the incident with Mrs. Gao, he took the initiative to call all the directors of Yinlin to explain. It was Jiang Shenghe who knew two of them.

Qin Moling was most at ease when it was Jiang Shenghe doing things.

Three minutes later, Jiang Shenghe called back and said, “She has indeed resigned. Pang Linbin has also approved it.”

Qin Moling was silent for a moment, “Who did you buy that game figure from?”

Jiang Shenghe almost failed to follow his train of thought, “Qin Xing won’t stop pestering you about it?”

“Not him. I want to but a few more for Jian Hang. She also likes that game.”

“…”

Jiang Shenghe found this development very interesting, “Didn’t you originally not want to get married because she stood you up before? Now you actually spend your time buying game figures for her.”

Qin Moling really treated her badly before, but now he wanted to make up for it.

Qin Moling said, “We are already married, so I should be nice to her. Should I still be nice to other women?”

This was indeed true, but the figures were not available for the time being.

Jiang Shenghe agreed that when new models were released, he would help grab a few more.

After all, when he was a child, he also ate one of Jian Hang’s steamed shrimp dumplings.

… …

Qin Moling cut off the call and leaned on the sofa to rest, his eyes closed.

He thought of Lemeng’s spokesperson, Tan Moxing. If Tan Moxing and Tan Feng were relatives, then Lemeng would renew Tan Moxing’s contract. Tan Feng had helped Jian Hang in the merger and acquisition project in Suzhou City. This time, when Tan Moxing continued to act as spokesperson for Lemeng, it could be considered as him repaying Tan Feng’s favor on behalf of Jian Hang.

Qin Moling didn’t like that Jian Hang owed others— especially Tan Feng.

Chapter 37.3 — Lean in His Arms

  1.  It’s a figure of speech that means ‘to arrive late’.  ↩︎
  2.  This idiom already came up before—it means something is clearly known to the person but they don’t talk about it for whatever reason. ↩︎
