[ILivestreamDivination] Chapter 49.1 — Dad Went Missing || dad lost his memories

An Rugu couldn’t help but sigh in her heart. As the saying went, those who love the deepest were always hurt the most. She has been livestreaming for so long and nine out of ten couples she encountered had problems. It was rare to see a pair that was good together.

Among the couples who had no relationship problems, this particular pair has gone through the most ups and downs, and yet they were also the ones who held the most affection for each other.

In order to renew their relationship, the man was not willing to drink Meng Po’s soup so as not to forget about the other person. He made a contract with the Underworld, giving up the wealth and honor he would have been entitled to in his next life. He was even willing to go to Hell and receive punishment.

More than twenty years has passed, yet the woman has not forgotten the man. The only time her heart moved was when she met the man’s reincarnation.

Love such as this was as deep as the sea— it was as simple as that.

… …

After finding out the reason, An Rugu stood up and began walking back to her room, preparing to continue the livestream.

She found Shang Yue sitting on a stone bench in the yard, playing some games with other people online, chatting.

“How was the last game with my Yaoyao?

“Really? I knew it was good, hahaha.”

At some point, Shang Yue had fallen in love with playing games, and she especially enjoyed playing with boys with particularly nice voices.

Seeing her like this, An Rugu asked, full of curiosity, “Do you have time? I want to ask you something.”

Shang Yue took off the headphones and asked, “What’s wrong?”

An Rugu was feeling a little uncertain. “Today, I encountered a pair who were lovers from a previous life—they are very similar to you. I wanted to ask, if Wang Ke didn’t leave first but instead waited for you so you could leave together, do you think you would still have been together after reincarnation?”

She thought Shang Yue would be full of regret and sigh.

After all, the first time she met Shang Yue, in her red wedding robes and wearing a phoenix crown, this ghost bride had come to claim her husband. Her obsession with Wang Ke back then had been too heavy.

Humans and ghosts had different paths. Shang Yue had previously rejected Wang Ke’s proposal because the relationship between humans and ghosts simply could not be. An Rugu didn’t know if Shang Yue was still feeling the pain of the unfulfilled promise. Perhaps she still dreamed about it at night.

However, Shang Yue tilted her head, thought for a moment and then said seriously, “Even if we are reincarnated together, it is unlikely that we would be together.”

 An Rugu: “?”

“Why?” she couldn’t help but ask.

Shang Yue shook her mobile phone, looking cute and coquettish, “I used to never leave the house, and I have seen less than a hundred men my entire life. I saw more people on the wedding day, and he was still the most handsome among them.

“But now I know that I was but a frog in a well. If I had met someone better looking than him, I really don’t know what would have happened…”

An Rugu: “…”

Shang Yue pouted and said, “You live such easy lives these days. Back then, if we gave a man a handkerchief, our legs would be broken by our family.”

An Rugu: “…”

She suddenly remembered that Shang Yue was an old ghost who was more than four hundred years old. She probably lived during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, when Cheng-Zhu Neo-Confucianism was prevalent—the ‘birds’ who were supposed to be free and flying high had been locked in cages.

It was indeed very different from the current era of relative freedom and openness.

“I see.”

An oath without action was no different from a lie. Shang Yue and her former husband had only spoken of such a vow in jest, and Wang Ke did not take any measure to fulfill it.

As for Violet and her former boyfriend, they may not have made any vows of eternal love, but they really missed each other after their separation.

An Rugu felt a little emotional. She felt that her experience had increased by encountering this predestined guest. She turned around and left, returning to the room she used to livestream.

She was gone for more than ten minutes, yet the barrage in the livestream channel did not calm down at all. They were still discussing what had just happened.

“I’m back. They can go on with their wedding.”

[Although I am a little skeptical, this is so sweet that I am about to suffer from diabetes.]

[Knock me to death, knock me to death, rich sister must accept him!]

[Looking at my boyfriend, it’s really infuriating when compared to other people. Woo woo woo, where did Violet find such a good boyfriend?]

[You need to take good care of yourself, your husband is still taking the college entrance examination.]

[Speaking of which, does the Underworld really exist? If the Underworld exists, then…. ghosts also exist? How scary!]

An Rugu raised her eyebrows slightly. The popularity of her livestream channel has reached 15.23 million, and there were more than 100,000 people online watching. It could be said that the livestream’s reach was very wide.

She thought she would be banned if she ever spoke about the Underworld… but no.

Somehow, she was receiving infinitesimally small signals from the air.

Twenty years ago, the seal against metaphysics was still very tight, and the standard would have been to denounce it. She didn’t know why, but now, metaphysics livestreams were possible.

Judging from these signs, certain things may not be openly said now, but sooner or later, matters would be out in the open completely.

Furthermore, except for the last time when her livestream was blocked once because it inadvertently showed something that was a bit bloody, she has never been blocked again, and she even appeared in some hot searches randomly.

She kept feeling that… someone was approving all of this to happen behind the scenes.

Perhaps… she has been chosen to be one of the pioneers in releasing some metaphysical knowledge to the people.

An Rugu glanced at the barrage and threw out her universal reply, “If you believe it exists, then it exists. If you don’t believe it, then it doesn’t exist. If you really can’t figure it out, just treat my livestream as being scripted.”

The audience in the livestrream channel: “???”

T/N: What little I know about Neo-Confucianism came from this amazingly translated c-novel set in ancient times: Who Cares. The FL came from a scholarly family, and the characters were doing what were basically rap battles on Confucianism, Legalism, and Neo-Confucianism. Whenever I want to tear out my hair at yet another Daoist or feng shui concept from An Rugu, I would remember that translation and feel better at my choice of novel to work on haha.

I didn’t retain a lot but what stuck with me was that the women in China lost a heartbreaking amount of their rights during the Neo-Confucianism period.
