[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 48.1 — Day 17: He Likes Her

The water in the pool was the same as it was yesterday, but there was one less person beside him.

Ji Chaozhou sat silently by the pool. The throbbing feeling from last night was still there. It had only been a few days yet he had already gotten used to seeing Cheng Liu in the morning.

After an unknown amount of time, Ji Chaozhou heard the doorbell and stood up, his trouser legs covering his wet ankles naturally.

He thought Cheng Liu had come back.

When he reached the surveillance monitor, he couldn’t help but be startled. The person outside was Aunt Yun, and the person ringing the doorbell was the nurse next to her.

Ji Chaozhou opened the door and went out to receive Yun Se himself, “Aunt Yun.”

“Chaozhou, I came to see you,” Yun Se raised her head and smiled. Her face was sallow, but she still tried her best to maintain the elegance of the past and tied a black silk scarf around her neck.

Ji Chaozhou pushed Yun Se’s wheelchair in, “Next time, you can just call and let me come to you.”

Yun Se half turned and patted his hand pushing the wheelchair, “I just worry about you.”

But when she saw Ji Chaozhou today, he seemed to be in much better condition than before.

The nurse didn’t come in anymore and remained waiting in the car outside.

Ji Chaozhou wheeled Yun Se into the living room, then he went to pour warm water for her to drink.

Yun Se looked at the furnishings in the living room casually, but then her eyes suddenly focused on the armchair: there was a red and black plaid coat thrown over it.

She was far away and couldn’t reach for it, but Yun Se knew even without picking it up that the coat couldn’t be Ji Chaozhou’s.

Ji Chaozhou wouldn’t wear that kind of style, not to mention that the fibers of the plaid coat was obviously pilling.

Yun Se held the handle of the wheelchair tightly, looked at the young man standing in front of the island pouring water, and called him loudly, “Chaozhou.”

Seeing him looking over, Yun Se pointed to the coat on the armchair and asked, “Whose coat is that?”

Ji Chaozhou’s eyes fell on the coat on the armchair. Cheng Liu had taken it off and thrown it there when she got back yesterday.

He came over with a water glass and handed it to Yun Se. He instinctively took the coat in his hand, put it by his side, subtly hiding it with his body, “… It’s a friend’s.”

‘Friend’?

Yun Se looked at Ji Chaozhou. This was the first time she heard this word from her nephew.

She didn’t even need to think about it and asked directly, “Is it Cheng Liu’s?”

Ji Chaozhou was stunned, but in the end, he did not deny it.

Seeing this, Yun Se already knew the answer. She said calmly, “Take it and return it to her.”

At this time, the sound of an electric drill came from next door, making a lot of noise.

Yun Se turned to look next door and asked, “Is Cheng Liu’s house being renovated?”

“Yeah.” Ji Chaozhou walked to the hallway coat rack, hung it, and explained with his back to Yun Se, “Cheng Liu is not next door. When she comes back, she will take the coat away.”

Yun Se put the water glass in her hand on the coffee table, and pushed the wheelchair to get around. Her pupils shrunk when she saw Ji Chaozhou’s movements.

“Chaozhou, come here,” Yun Se asked her nephew to sit on the sofa while she sat in a wheelchair. She looked at her nephew’s face that looked so much like her sister’s, and after a moment of confusion, she suddenly said, “You how far along have you and Cheng Liu developed your relationship?”

“Why did Aunt Yun ask that?” Ji Chaozhou lowered his eyelashes to hide all his emotions, “We are just friends.”

“You like her,” Yun Se said firmly, pointing to the two coats that were touching each other on the rack, “Chaozhou, you can’t hide it.”

He didn’t just look like Yun Ran.

Their talents made them extremely sensitive to smells. When an outsider was allowed to enter their scent territory, that person would already be occupying an important position in their hearts.

Letting an outsider’s coat hang next to his own coat—this was equivalent to Ji Chaozhou being willing to catch that person’s scent.

Ji Chaozhou looked at the clothes hanging together blankly. His coat hung side by side with Cheng Liu’s, with the two cuffs touching each other, like they were holding hands.

“The villa next door is being renovated; where is Cheng Liu staying?” Yun Se has her suspicions, especially when Cheng Liu’s coat appeared in Chaozhou’s living room.

“In the guest room.”

Yun Se felt bitterness fill her mouth. The development of these two people was faster than she imagined. She thought it would take a while at least, but she never expected that Chaozhou would already be this deeply involved after they had only known each other for half a month.

“Chaozhou, Aunt Yun hopes you are happy, but…” Yun Se took a deep breath and suppressed the discomfort in her throat, “I checked some of Cheng Liu’s background. She is still so young and she is already a self-made person. She is indeed excellent, there is nothing wrong with you liking her.”

Ji Chaozhou was silent. He thought of the way Cheng Liu looked up at the stars last night. For a moment, she showed her exhaustion, but it disappeared too quickly.

“This kind of person is destined to encounter countless blood and tears as they climb all the way to the top. They will throw away everything they can throw away and will always choose the path that gives the highest benefit.”

Yun Se’s mouth was bitter. It was difficult enough for ordinary people to achieve pure love, let alone such people as Cheng Liu.

Not being able to receive pure love was a fatal blow to the people of the Yun family.

Yun Se chose a path completely opposite from the one her sister Yun Ran took, and she never had a relationship in her life.

“Chaozhou, she is not suitable for you.” After Yun Se finished speaking, she finally couldn’t hold back the discomfort in her throat and suddenly started coughing in succession. She quickly took out a handkerchief from the side to cover it, and a spot of blood smeared the white fabric.

“Aunt Yun!” Ji Chaozhou stood up and squatted beside her, comforting her back.

“I’m fine.” Yun Se coughed for a long time before she finally calmed down. She was exhausted and could hardly open her eyes, but she still managed to hold on and said to Ji Chaozhou, “You can figure it out yourself.”

In the end, Yun Se didn’t stay long and went back to rest, assisted by her nurse.

Ji Chaozhou stood in front of the door for a long time. Then he turned and walked to the hallway closet. He reached out and took off Cheng Liu’s coat from the hanger. He smelled a faint scent of bitter coffee.

Ever since Cheng Liu moved in, she had been using the bath fragrance he prepared.

Ji Chaozhou looked down at the coat in his hand, and finally draped it back on the armchair.

… …

It seemed the previous conversation didn’t cause much ripples. Ji Chaozhou had lunch and even took a nap. In the afternoon, he took out the scent bottles from the cabinet and put it on the table, slowly mixing new incense.

Until night fell, the living room was filled with various aromas—gorgeous, ambiguous, and decadent.

Ji Chaozhou finally capped the bottle and put it away.

After doing all this, he opened his phone. There was no message on it.

He looked out of the living room, grabbed the table with one hand for support and placed the other over his chest, bending slightly over from the waist…

It felt like someone was holding his heart in their hand; it ached.

He liked her.

Ji Chaozhou has never realized this fact so clearly before.
