[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 29.3 — Duty

When Qin Moling and Jian Zhongjun walked into the house, Chen Yu was busy in the kitchen.

Qin Moling handed the cans of tea leaves and some mathematical books to Jian Zhongjun. The tea leaves were for Jian Zhongjun, and these books were for Chen Yu. Last time, Jian Hang said that Chen Yu often studied Olympiad math problems at home after retirement, and he kept it in mind.

There were many such books at home, and he picked out a few and brought them with him.

Qin Moling entered the kitchen and greeted Chen Yu.

“Mom.”

Chen Yu turned around. She heard the door to the house open just now. She thought it was only Jian Zhongjun.

“You’re here.” She waved her hand, “Get out quickly, the fumes here are heavy.”

“It’s okay.” Qin Moling rolled up his sleeves and looked around for an apron.

There were two hanging on the wall behind the door; he took out the dark one.

“I’ll help you cook.”

Chen Yu couldn’t believe it, “You know how to cook?”

“Yes.” As he spoke, Qin Moling was already putting on his apron.

Even if he could, how could Chen Yu let him cook? “You go outside and have tea with your dad. You are not needed here.”

Qin Moling joked, “I used to cause a lot of trouble in your class, but now I can make up for it.”

Chen Yu also smiled. Most of the things that happened more than 20 years ago were already forgotten, but some scenes were particularly impressive and were engraved in memory. The events that featured Qin Moling as a boy were among the moments that left a particularly deep impression.

When he talked about what happened when he was a student, the sense of distance disappeared instantly.

Well, if he wanted to cook, Chen Yu would let him.

She often met with Shen Jingyun recently to discuss the wedding photos of their two children and where to hold their wedding, so she knew that Qin Moling was actually very busy.

“You have a lot of work in Lemeng. You’re busy. If you don’t have time, you don’t have to come here. A phone call is enough.”

She understood how difficult it was for young people.

Qin Moling said, “I’m not busy today.”

He took the wok and put it on the other stove.

Jian Zhongjun also opened the door and entered the kitchen. He had nothing to do alone in the living room, so he came here to join in the fun.

The kitchen was not big, and there was not much space for three people to stand inside, He tried to stand as close to the door as possible so as not to interfere with them.

He had just seen the tea leaves and recognized them as the rarest and most precious variety. “Moling, take the tea leaves back and just give them to others. You can’t even buy these in the market.”

It would be a pity to just keep it to drink for himself.

Qin Moling turned around and said, “Dad, that tea is for family to drink. It’s not much, so you can just try it.”

After that, he turned back and asked Chen Yu, “Mom, do you still remember Jiang Shenghe? Jiang Shenghe helped buy the tea I gave Dad.”

Chen Yu said with a smile, “How could I not remember? I have been teaching for so many years, and I have never encountered students who were as troublesome as you two.”

Qin Moling: “…”

Speaking of the past, Chen Yu started chatting, “You and Jiang Shenghe were the most disobedient little boys in the class. I had to keep you under my nose the entire time, so you two boys had the two desks next to the podium. One time, when I turned around to write on the blackboard, you were still throwing chalk at each other and it hit me!”

Qin Moling: “…”

Sitting on the desks next to the teacher’s podium happened in the second grade of primary school.

He didn’t want to talk about the embarrassing incidents he and Jiang Shenghe had in primary school anymore, so he quickly changed the subject, “On next Teacher’s Day, I will bring Jiang Shenghe over to repent.”

Chen Yu laughed and said, “The relationship between you two is still as good as before.”

“Well, it’s always been like that.”

The kitchen was hot with steam, and the vegetables were fragrant.

They were stir-frying and chatting about things at school the entire time.

Jian Zhongjun stood aside, occasionally saying a few words and helping to pass the empty plates.

The kitchen hasn’t been this lively in a long time.

If it was before, Jian Zhongjun would still be worried that his daughter and Qin Moling would not get along well. Tonight, all his worries have disappeared.

While eating, Chen Yu sent a message to her daughter: [Have you returned to the hotel?]

Jian Hang: [I just got back. It’s been a long day of meetings.]

Chen Yu said: [We haven’t eaten yet, but we have cooked a table of dishes. Qin Moling is also there, and he also cooked a few dishes.]

Jian Hang had to read her mother’s message again. Before she could be surprised, her mother’s video call invitation came in. She answered it immediately without hesitation.

Chen Yu first pointed the camera at the food on the table and said with a smile, “Look at what we’re eating tonight.”

It was strange but Jian Hang could actually guess which of the dishes Qin Moling cooked.

Her mother panned the camera across the table, and Qin Moling’s face flashed past. Before she could look at him clearly, the camera already moved past him and she only saw that he was wearing a white shirt.

Her mother didn’t know that she didn’t have much contact with Qin Moling, so she didn’t focus the camera on him. She just told her that Qin Moling was at home.

“You are busy, we’ll go have dinner now.” Her mother cut off the video call.

Jian Hang put down her phone. She knew for a fact that Qin Moling was busier than her. Spring and summer were Lemeng’s busiest times, yet he still took time to go back to her house and visit her parents.

Her stomach still hurt.

She looked for the medicine and took some.

She opened a document: it was Yinlin’s resignation letter template.

Her mind was filled with what Tan Feng asked her that day: Have you ever thought about changing careers?

After looking at the screen for a long time, she felt that she still hasn’t thought it through properly, so she closed the resignation letter template again.

Instead, she opened her email and started working.

At a quarter past ten, Jian Hang estimated that Qin Moling should have left her home and might have already arrived at the villa.

He went to her house and deliberately created something for the two of them to talk about.

She took the initiative to send a message, [Thank you for visiting my parents.]

Qin Moling: [No need to say thank you in the future. When you are on a business trip, it is my duty to visit them.]

After two seconds of silence, he asked: [Are you still working overtime? Have you gotten a stomachache after drinking at a social gathering?]
