[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 27.1 — Dinner Treat

Jian Hang didn’t originally need Qin Moling to call her, but when she walked towards the door when she heard him coming, she realized she was only wearing pajamas, which seemed inappropriate, so she turned back and went to the cloakroom first to find a windbreaker and put it on.

It didn’t take much time to get ready.

Jian Hang simply buttoned a few buttons and took a few steps out of the room.

Qin Moling stood outside the door of the bedroom. He had a few drinks while socializing, and his neck was noticeably red.

“Why were you waiting for me?” he asked.

Jian Hang told him how Zhong Yanfei had come to see her today. She had not yet figured out how to thank him, so she could only express her gratitude, “Thank you for your great help.”

“You’re welcome,” Qin Moling replied.

He thought how the few times he sent her to her apartment before, she would always give him a box of milk before he left.

Now, living in the same villa, she didn’t have any milk to give him. If she still lived back in that apartment, tonight, in this situation, she would surely give him a box of milk as a gesture of gratitude.

He said, “Go to bed early.”

Jian Hang politely asked, “Did you drink at lot tonight?”

“Hmm. I drank a bit too much.”

“Do you want me to cook a bowl of sobering soup for you?”

Qin Moling had already pushed open the door to his bedroom; he turned to look at her and said, “Can you cook?”

Jianhang was the best at making sobering up soup. Every time she drank at social gatherings, she cooked it for herself. “I know how to cook it. Wait a moment, I’ll just send out an email,” she said.

The email for the headquarters could not be delayed.

Jian Hang spent ten minutes handling the email, saving the information, changing into clothes suitable for work in the kitchen, and tying up her hair, before going downstairs.

Passing by, she saw that the door to Qin Moling’s room’s was tightly closed.

There was no one downstairs; Aunt Geng and the others were already resting.

Jian Hang found an apron and tied the strings neatly around her waist.

The kitchen was enclosed and designed in both Chinese and Western styles, making it even bigger than her office.

There were two refrigerators and four doors in total, so Jian Hang searched for a while before finding all the ingredients she needed to cook the sobering soup.

She heard footsteps behind her, and Jian Hang turned around.

Qin Moling had taken a shower before he came downstairs. Thinking that she was in villa, even after taking a shower, he didn’t wear home clothes and instead changed to a trousers and a black shirt. The shirt buttons were not done all the way to the collar, and two were left open.

His hair was not dried, and so some water from the strands dripped onto the collar. The black fabric had a few wet patches.

It seemed that he really drank tonight. As he got closer, even after he had already taken a shower and had the scent of shower gel on his body, it still couldn’t hide the strong smell of alcohol.

Jian Hang said, “It’s not ready yet, you still need to wait a moment.”

“No hurry.” Qin Moling leaned against the island platform, watching her cook the sobering soup. He saw her wearing an apron for the first time. With so many aprons at home, she chose the black one; it wrapped her already thin waist making it look more slender.

She didn’t just know how to make sobering soup but was obviously very skilled at it.

Qin Moling inexplicably wondered if she used to often cook this for others. He just thought about it—but he wouldn’t ask her. No matter who she cooked it for before, it was in the past before she married him.

He suddenly felt the urge to smoke a cigarette, but there was none around him.

Mint candy, though, was always available on the island. Qin Moling tore one open and put it in his mouth.

Jian Hang cooked the sobering soup and carefully put it in a bowl.

This morning, she had intended to stay and accompany him for breakfast, but he asked if she had anything else to do. Already having experienced it, she didn’t plan to stay in the dining room anymore while he drank sobering soup.

Qin Moling glanced at her and said, “Is your work still unfinished?”

Jian Hang put the apron away and said, “It’s done.”

Qin Moling’s brain was slowed down by alcohol, and he couldn’t think of a suitable reason for her to stay with him.

Jian Hang went upstairs, and he drank sobering soup alone in the dining room.

… …

The next day.

Aunt Geng boiled some tea eggs. Talking about tea eggs—she really worked hard on these. From the eggs to the soy sauce to the several kinds of tea, all the ingredients were carefully selected.

Qin Moling went downstairs early today. He drank too much alcohol yesterday and had no appetite this morning. He asked Aunt Geng not to fry eggs anymore and to prepare something light.

“OK, I’ll cook oatmeal for you,” Aunt Geng said.

Qin Moling saw five or six tea eggs on the cooking table, soaking in sauce.

Aunt Geng caught sight of him staring at the tea eggs and said with a smile, “I have tasted one, and it’s pretty good.” This was actually the second pot. The first pot cooked yesterday was not very successful. it seemed she did not control the sauce ratio well. The house staff shared it.

Qin Moling asked, “Is there enough tea left?”

Aunt Geng said, “Not much, it’s enough to do it twice more.”

Qin Moling nodded, understanding what he needed to do.

After the oatmeal was cooked, Qin Moling sat down at the table.

At this moment, Jian Hang had also come downstairs. Today, she was wearing a white shirt, with a gray women’s suit, the jacket draped over her arm. In her other hand, she was carrying a laptop bag, and her bag was on her wrist.

“Good morning,” she said to him.

Jian Hang put her jacket and bags on the sofa, then went up to the dining table for a meal.

The breakfast set out on the dining table was rich, with both Chinese and Western styles available.

Aunt Geng brought out some tea eggs on a plate, then went back to the kitchen to clean up.

There were only two tea eggs. Jian Hang thought that Qin Moling would eat tea eggs today because he didn’t have his usual fried egg at hand.

So she pushed the plate of tea eggs towards him, thinking that she would leave this to him and have some of the salad first.

Qin Moling looked at the tea eggs and then back at her, thinking that Jian Hang was asking him to peel the eggshells for her.

No one has ever made small moves like this with him: she was the first one.

Putting down his spoon, he wiped his hands with a wet towel, picked up a tea egg and shelled it. He didn’t know how many she could eat. So he shelled both tea eggs.

Qin Moling peeled both cleanly, wiped his fingers with the wet towel, then pushed the plate of the now peeled tea eggs back to her.

He lowered his head to continue eating his oatmeal, and Jane Hang looked at him for a few seconds. This should be because of the sobering soup last night.

“Thank you.” Her voice was light and lively.

Qin Moling didn’t respond but said, “Are you signing the contract with Wanyue today?”

“The specific time has not been determined yet. We will discuss it when we meet at noon.”

  1. Well, poor man has to sit alone during the meal.

Some of their misunderstandings are sweet. Like him thinking she wanted the eggs peeled and indulging her.
