[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 46.1 — Day 16: I’ve Now Got Someone In My Heart

After some ‘cautious deliberation’ and ‘thorough inquiries’, Young President Cheng finally gained hope in her heart.

She felt that Ji Chaozhou probably liked her.

With this inference in mind, Cheng Liu worked energetically through the afternoon and completed the work as quickly as possible. However, there were so many reports sent to her desk that required her attention that by the time she finished, it was already dark.

“Senior sister,” He Bai called out to Cheng Liu who was in a hurry to get off work.

Cheng Liu turned around and asked, “More reports?”

He Bai shook his head, “No, I just wanted to say I will bring two bottles of red wine to your new house to celebrate you moving in.”

“Thank you,” Cheng Liu’s mind had already gone off elsewhere. She wasn’t paying attention to what He Bai said, “Let’s celebrate later. My house is being renovated right now and it’s a mess inside.”

Seeing that He Bai wanted to say more, Cheng Liu hurriedly waved her hand, “I’ll be going, see you tomorrow.”

She quickly walked into the elevator, went all the way down to the underground parking lot, and then drove back home.

The temperature had been unusually high all day. She lowered the car windows, and the night wind blew hot, as if summer had already arrived.

Cheng Liu closed the window, turned on the air conditioner, and waited for the car in front to move.

She wondered if he went to Ranshan today.

Cheng Liu drove the car with all kinds of messy thoughts in her head—the way Ji Chaozhou smiled at her in the morning was always in the forefront of her mind .

He had always been as cold as the lone pine tree on top of the snowy peak, but at that moment, he was not yet fully awake and his amber eyes were still somewhat glazed with sleep. He had one slender and beautiful hand lazily placed against the wall, and because the temperature in the morning was unusually high, ‘moist heat’ oozed from his entire body, matching his black hair and too red lips.

When he saw her, his smile broke out, unconscious and unbidden, and even his eyebrows were tinged with tenderness and extreme ambiguity.

Cheng Liu saw it and couldn’t forget.

When she arrived at the villa, Cheng Liu turned her head and saw the lights of Villa No. 5 through the gap in the door. Her heartbeat suddenly jumped a few beats faster. She turned and entered Villa No. 6.

Cheng Liu parked her car in the garage. As soon as she opened the door, a wave of heat hit her.

Young President Cheng tugged at the collar of her hoodie: perhaps, today, the gods were feeling as hot as her heart.

Cheng Liu walked to the gate of Villa No. 5, unlocked it with her fingerprint, and walked in calmly.

The scent of perfume that had been in the living room that day was replaced by the cold and alienating sandalwood scent of Ranshan Midu. The smell was a bit stronger than before, more like… it was sprayed all over deliberately.

Cheng Liu remained calm and glanced around the living room. Was he not here? But the lights were on.

She felt a little disappointed when she didn’t see Ji Chaozhou. She carried her bag and walked towards the guest room. As soon as she reached the bedroom door, the door of the master bedroom on the opposite side opened.

Ji Chaozhou’s slender figure stood by the door.

Perhaps due to the weather, his face has lost its usual sickly paleness, warming with flush and becoming more radiant.

“I’m back.”  Cheng Liu looked at Ji Chaozhou—her black eyes were surprisingly bright, and the smile inside them was almost overflowing.

“Yeah,” Ji Chaozhou responded, lowering his eyes to avoid Cheng Liu’s gaze.

She always seemed to be full of enthusiasm.

Ji Chaozhou held the door handle. The air conditioner was still on in the villa, so the metal handle was not too hot. His eyes fell on the floor, feeling that the distance between them was too close for him to walk.

Too close. She was so close that he could feel her breath.

“You…” Cheng Liu rarely hesitated. She was straightforward and confident when asking what she wanted from others. But when she was in front of Ji Chaozhou, she instinctively held back, fearing that if she was too forward, he would shut her out.

Thinking about it this way… it wasn’t too bad for them to be just friends for now.

When Ji Chaozhou raised his amber eyes and looked over, Cheng Liu changed her words, feeling a hint of guilt, “I’m going to shower.”

They had only been friends for a few hours.

She hurried into the guest room, closed the door, and rushed to the bathroom.

The guest room was connected to another bathroom and she didn’t need to pass through this corridor again.

Ji Chaozhou stood inside the master bedroom’s door for a moment longer, then slowly walked to the living room.

He had stayed in the villa all day, hearing the constant noise of renovation coming from next door, but he didn’t feel it was noisy. It only made Ji Chaozhou think of the owner of the villa next door.

Ji Chaozhou sat on the sofa, but his eyes unconsciously fell on the empty armchair beside him, a little lost in thought.

She liked to sit there when she worked; in addition to using her laptop, she would often take out her mobile phone.

He could easily tell when she wasn’t working.

When Cheng Liu was working, there was no emotion on her face. The black eyes that always showed her enthusiasm were still and calm. Others could not tell what she was thinking.

Most of the time, she was in this state with her cell phone in hand.

But sometimes, Cheng Liu would look at her phone with a focused expression on her face, as if she was studying some difficult problem.

Ji Chaozhou couldn’t see the content of Cheng Liu’s phone, but he instinctively knew that she was definitely not dealing with work matters during those times.

“I’m done showering,” Cheng Liu walked out with her hair still wet, phone in hand, actively reporting her every step.

Young President Cheng was just taking initiative to follow her business partner’s post-marriage life in advance.

Cheng Liu sat directly on the empty armchair. At that moment, Ji Chaozhou’s heart suddenly felt a little full, and the unfathomable loneliness somehow disappeared.

“I originally wanted to come back and have dinner with you, but I had too many things to deal with at work.” Cheng Liu took a dry towel in one hand and wiped her wet hair carelessly. She didn’t realize that her words were too intimate for a neighbor, “Would you like to have dinner together tomorrow? Are you free?”

Ji Chaozhou’s eyes fell on her messy hair, and he originally wanted to refuse, but at that moment his eyes moved and he inadvertently met Cheng Liu’s eyes.

He pursed his lips and found himself accepting her invitation: “… .”

Cheng Liu’s eyes lit up. This was their third dinner date. Everything must be perfect. She would not stay up late or work all day, just be fresh for the date!

She would never fall asleep again!
