[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 17.2 — Embrace

“Does this suit need to be cleaned?” Aunt Geng asked, pointing to the clothes piled up on the chair.

Jian Hang said, “I don’t know if Qin Moling still wants it. I accidentally dropped it on the ground before and he didn’t bring it when he left.”

Without saying another word, Aunt Geng found a bag from the cabinet and put the suit jacket in it.

Jian Hang asked Aunt Geng to take the flowers Tan Feng brought back to the villa and put them in a vase.

After a full meal, Jian Hang went for a walk on the corridor outside to digest the food. It had been raining all day and it seemed like it had no intention of stopping. She went to the window at the end of the corridor to breathe fresh air.

Aunt Geng wanted to stay with her, but she refused. Now she was so full of energy that she didn’t need anyone to take care of her.

She was a bit like Qin Moling in that she was not used to having other people in the same room as her.

She had a good night’s rest and had no dreams until dawn.

Early the next morning, Jian Hang didn’t wake up until the doctor came for rounds.

Not feeling any physical discomfort, Jian Hang asked the doctor, “Can I be discharged from the hospital this morning?”

The doctor said, “You have to stay in the hospital for observation for a few more days.”

Jian Hang was puzzled, “I’ve done all the tests and there’s nothing wrong.”

The doctor’s expression was serious, and his tone brooked no argument, “Health problems should not be taken lightly. We had a case last week. He was also a young man, just a few years older than you. He died suddenly from overwork and could not be saved.”

The doctor didn’t say much else and went off to check on other wards.

Jian Hang had no doubts about the professionalism of the attending doctor; he asked her to stay a few more days for observation probably because he felt it was necessary.

When Aunt Geng brought her food last night, she also said that she was lucky: she happened to be in a crowded hall when she fainted. Had she been alone at that time and fallen on her head—she couldn’t imagine the consequences.

The several projects she was responsible for were busy but the rest of the team could handle it. The Wanyue Group’s contract would not be signed until next Monday, so any work that comes up these days could be handled as usual while she was at the hospital.

Since she was in the hospital, then just stay in the hospital. Treat it as a good time to take a break.

This rest lasted for three days, and the rain didn’t stop the entire time.

Aunt Geng devoted herself to taking care of Jian Hang’s three meals, and every meal was delicious.

She had an IV drip every morning, took a nap after lunch, went for a half-hour walk downstairs in the afternoon, read a book when she came back to the ward, and went to bed on time at ten o’clock in the evening.

Her life was leisurely and comfortable, and she has never been so relaxed since graduation.

Three days passed, and Qin Moling didn’t show up even once to the hospital nor made her a single call.

One thing he did to his credit was not telling anyone at home about her hospitalization.

Old Madam Qin thought she was in Manhattan, “Xiao Hang, when will you be back from your business trip?”

Jian Hang did not respond directly, “Grandma, what’s the matter with you?”

Old Madam Qin said, “When you come back, come with Moling for dinner this Saturday.”

Today was Thursday; the doctor said she could be discharged tomorrow.

Jian Hang said, “Grandma, I’ll be back then. But I wonder if Qin Moling is free on Saturday.”

Old Madam Qin said with a smile, “If he doesn’t have time, then he can make time.”

And that was that.

After hanging up the phone, Jian Hang couldn’t help but wonder what Qin Moling had been busy with in the past three days.

Knock, knock, knock. Several rapid knocks on the door brought her back from her wandering thoughts.

Jian Hang looked at the uninvited guest and smiled, “Hey, a rare guest.”

“Still remember me? I was worried before I came that you, a noble one, would forget things from before.” There were thorns in the words of this guest.

The visitor was Feng Mai, her junior high school classmate and university alumnus.

The two had been rivals in school before—but now they were rivals in love.

Feng Mai liked Qin Moling. Who would have thought that Jian Hang would now become Qin Moling’s wife?

Feng Mai’s family literally had a bank and a mine, while hers was an ordinary family. They belonged in vastly different social circles, so the two had had no intersection after graduation.

Jian Hang only found out after receiving the marriage certificate that Feng Mai liked Qin Moling.

Objectively speaking, Feng Mai was a pretty good person. In the past, she was always the most proactive person in the school whenever there was a need for donations or assistance.

It was just that people like here were arrogant, and sometimes, like her, they were too arrogant.

The other good thing about Feng Mai was that she directly attacked anyone she didn’t like; she never wasted time making small moves behind their backs.

She and Feng Mai had always been incompatible.

“I had dinner with my blind date at noon, and we ran into Tan Feng.” Speaking of the blind date, Feng Mai added a few words, “I went on a blind date, and I get along well with that man. So I’m ready to settle down.”

Qin Moling was married. No matter how much she liked him, she would never demean herself as to entangle a married man.

She continued talking about Tan Feng, “Tan Feng and I were talking about you, and he mentioned that you were in the hospital.”

Feng Mai put down the bouquet of flowers in her hand but didn’t sit down. Instead, she leaned against the tea cabinet.

The gesture was casual.

Jian Hang looked at the bouquet of flowers and said, “You didn’t have to bother.”

“It didn’t cost much.” Feng Mai didn’t hide her intentions at all, “I’m here to see a joke, I’d be sorry if I came empty-handed.”

Jian Hang smiled and said calmly, “Whatever joke you want to see, I’ll tell it to you personally, and I’ll make sure you get it first-hand.”

Feng Mai: “…”

She smiled, unwilling to be outdone, “That’s very good of you.”

“You’re welcome.” Jian Hang pointed to the tea cabinet, “I can’t get up easily. Whatever you want to drink, it’s all in there.”

“No need to bother, I’m not thirsty.”

Feng Mai looked around the ward, “Tan Feng said that you were hospitalized for hypoglycemia. It seems that his information is inaccurate. How can hypoglycemia require you to stay in hospital for several days? Is this right?”

She suddenly changed the subject, “I know Qin Moling fairly well. If he was really good to you, he wouldn’t have ignored you for so long without seeing you. Are you delaying getting discharged from the hospital because you want to gain sympathy and are wait for him to come?”

Before Jian Hang could speak, Feng Mai taunted her again, “Weren’t you an arrogant person before? There were so many rich second-generation men chasing after you, but you didn’t like any of them. Now you are eagerly waiting for a man who doesn’t want to see you. I feel sorry for you.”

As her words fell, the door of the ward was pushed open.

  1. My first impression of Feng Mai wasn’t that bad. She’s open about what she likes and dislikes, she doesn’t backstab (much if at all, if I’m understanding correctly), and won’t demean herself for someone’s affections.

However, I can’t exactly say I’m pleased about how she’s talking to MC. Tbh, it makes me angry, but looking back at it, maybe it’s still better that she’s openly stirring sh*t instead of secretly tripping people up. Also, I guess she’s probably still angry about her rival getting the guy she likes.

I guess I can understand that. I don’t like it though.

  2. Has TF been secretly in love with her?😳
