[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 14.2 — Taking Care of Her

Sitting in the car, Jian Hang saw a luxury apartment building that towered into the clouds appear from the distance. She and Qin Moling had nothing to talk about. After looking at the laptop all night, her eyes felt uncomfortable. She stared out the window at the building.

That luxury apartment building was her goal. In a few years, when she had accumulated a lot of money, she planned to sell their house and borrow a loan to buy a luxury apartment for her parents. Even then, she could only afford the smallest unit there.

But the small set was not very small at all—nearly 150 square meters.

Her parents still lived in their old house from many years ago, and the community environment was very average.

In fact, she herself has always wanted to live in a high-rise luxury apartment, but her annual salary when she was just starting out was not as high as it was now, and she could not afford a larger and more expensive house.

She could only afford the apartment she lived in now.

“What do you want to eat? I’ll ask the restaurant to prepare it in advance.”

Jian Hang was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn’t hear what Qin Moling said.

“Jian Hang?”

“Yes?” Jian Hang came to her senses.

Qin Moling didn’t rush to ask her what she wanted to eat, “What are you looking at?”

Jian Hang didn’t hide it and pointed to the apartment building outside the window.

Qin Moling thought about it. “You have a house over there?”

“No. I can’t afford it.” Jian Hang didn’t mention that she wanted to replace her parents’ old house.

Qin Moling told the driver, “Go back to the apartment first.”

Jian Hang looked at him and said, “Do you have a house there?”

Qin Moling said “Hmm”.

Jian Hang didn’t ask why he suddenly wanted to go back to the apartment. It might be to get something, or he might be taking her to see what a luxury apartment was like to satisfy her curiosity.

She currently only planned to buy the property as a goal and has not seen the place in person because she couldn’t afford to buy it within three to five years and did not have the confidence to go see it in person. She has only seen pictures online.

In the elevator, they headed to the top apartment. Jian Hang guessed based on the floor Qin Moling clicked on that his house would be at least five to six hundred square meters.

Houses on different floors, even when they were in the same building, were also very different.

When they arrived at the apartment, she was greeted by luxury and nobility.

Jian Hang thought she was mentally prepared, but what she saw with her own eyes was still different from what she imagined. The wide field of vision in front of her made her stunned for a few seconds.

Qin Moling found a new pair of men’s slippers for her, “There are no women’s slippers.”

He took out his mobile phone and turned on the lights in all the rooms in the house with one click. He turned to her and said, “Go and have a look for yourself.”

He then added, “Let’s just eat at home tonight.”

There were only the two of them in the apartment, and there was no live-in auntie. Jian Hang asked, “Should we ask the restaurant to pack and deliver it?”

Qin Moling walked to the kitchen, “I’ll make it myself.”

Jian Hang was surprised, “Can you cook?”

“It’s not hard.”

“I didn’t expect you to cook for yourself.”

“I don’t like having outsiders at home. I learned a few things from a chef when I was studying abroad,” Qin Moling said as he walked into the kitchen.

Jian Hang can also cook, and her situation was a bit similar to his. When she was studying abroad, she wanted to eat Chinese food and could only cook it herself. Her grandfather was a chef and gave her lessons while on video call. Over the years, although her cooking skills could not be called exquisite, she was still able to cook by herself, and her table of home-cooked food was totally fine.

However, she cooked much less after she started going to work, and sometimes she didn’t even have time to cook two meals a week.

… …

Qin Moling went to cook, and she walked around the living room and out the terrace. She didn’t visit the bedrooms because she felt it was impolite.

“Jian Hang?”

Qin Moling didn’t see her in the living room.

“Here,” Jian Hang poked her head out at his call.

“What’s going on?” she turned two corners and saw Qin Moling.

Qin Moling clicked on his phone and was looking for the restaurant’s delivery number. “There are no vegetables in the refrigerator, and you can’t eat Western food. Let’s just let the restaurant deliver them.”

Jian Hang originally wanted to try his cooking skills and could only regretfully say, “Okay, you arrange it. I’ll try your cooking some other time when I have the chance.”

Qin Moling looked at her for a few moments, then changed his mind, “Is congee okay with you?” There were still enough ingredients in the kitchen for a stomach-nourishing congee.

“Yes.” It was best to eat congee after all. She didn’t dare to eat greasy and difficult-to-digest food for the time being.

“Is there anything you don’t eat? Onions, ginger, etc,” he asked again.

Jian Hang was not picky about food, “I eat anything.”

Qin Moling threw his phone on the sofa and entered the kitchen again.

Jian Hang followed him to the kitchen to watch how he cooked.

Qin Moling looked back at her and said, “I don’t need your help. Don’t you still have work left to finish?”

Jian Hang nodded.

That’s right; if she worked overtime now, she could rest early when she got home. She didn’t sleep at all last night and worked hard today.

She called the driver to bring up her laptop bag from the car.

The dining table was very long, like a conference table; it was very suitable for her to work on.

From where Jian Hang was sitting, she could see Qin Moling in the kitchen if she tilted her head a little. Qin Moling had rolled up his sleeves and was taking something out from the refrigerator.

Since they obtained the marriage certificate, she finally felt a little bit at home tonight.

Things has been very unreal recently.

Not sure if he felt her looking at him but Qin Moling suddenly raised his head and looked towards her direction. Jian Hang turned her head away, picked up the laptop bag on the chair next to her, and pretended to look for something in it.

At that moment, their eyes seemed to have met; but it was so brief it was as if they hadn’t.

Nearly an hour passed and dinner was ready.

Qin Moling made Western food for himself. All the food was put on a plate. He took Jian Hang’s congee to the small dining alcove first, and then brought his own plate.

“Let’s eat,” he called her.

Jian Hang looked up from the laptop screen, “So fast.”

She saw him walking away with the dinner plate, “Where are you going to eat?”

Qin Moling, “At the small dining room.”

The night view from the small dining room was a special feature of the house.

Jian Hang put down the mouse, washed her hands and followed him to the small dining room.

She didn’t have time to appreciate the night view—her eyes were drawn to her dinner on the table: a bowl of yam and pumpkin porridge, and steamed egg with shrimps.

A pinch of green onion was sprinkled over the steamed egg, making it look extra appetizing.

She didn’t expect him to be so good at taking care of people.

Jian Hang took a bite of the steamed egg. It was delicious and much better than her cooking skills.

  1. Well, now resolution to the Zhong sisters, but at least we have a nice cleaning and cooking bit.

The phrase “rip c*nt” (another word for catfight) has been in my mind for a bit now. I found out about that phrase from another novel recently.

Maela, I think I’ve only read a 2-3 novels you translate, and this one and “control group” seems to bring out my bloodthirst. 😂

“Control group” definitely made me way angrier though.
