[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 10.1 — See The Art Exhibition

It was impossible for Qin Moling to send tickets to Jian Hang himself. He had given her a Valentine’s Day gift before, went to her office to pick up his wallet, and even bought her coffee. Last night, he couldn’t bear her going back so late alone, so he took the initiative to pick her up.

He has already made too many exceptions.

If he gave her tickets to the art exhibition, there was no guarantee that she wouldn’t think too much about it—that he just wanted to see her, so he’d been making all these excuses.

So he planned to ask his secretary to send it over.

The next morning, Qin Moling remembered that he had borrowed Jian Hang’s car before and had not yet returned it to her. He called the driver not to come to pick him up.

After breakfast, he drove Jian Hang’s car to the company; he will find the time to return the car to her.

It was night the last time he drove Jian Hang’s car, and Qin Moling hadn’t turned on the overhead lights. He only had a rough look at the interior decoration and didn’t notice that there was a small figurine on the armrest console.

He couldn’t imagine that Jian Hang, with her cold personality, actually liked such childish things.

He picked it up and looked at it. It was exquisitely made.

Qin Moling didn’t play games, so he didn’t know that this was an official figurine issued in collaboration with the game.

Lemeng’s underground garage has a dedicated parking space for Qin Moling.

He parked the car directly in it.

Secretary Gao also arrived at the company early today and drove into the basement parking alongside Qin Moling. She saw the white car ahead of her park in the boss’ special parking space.

She thought to herself, Who could this new employee be? After all, the old employees of Lemeng will never park their cars there.

She hurriedly opened the car window, wanting to tell the other party to move their car: that was the boss’s special parking space.

“Hello, sorry to bother you…”

Halfway through her prepared words, she paused.

The door of the white car opened, and the person who got out was Qin Moling.

“Good morning, Mr. Qin, I didn’t know it was your car.”

Qin Moling nodded, closed the car door, and said, “It’s my wife’s car.”

Secretary Gao: “…”

The boss drove Jian Hang’s car to work, which showed that their relationship as husband and wife was not what the outside world said.

The boss took the initiative to tell her who owned the car and used the word ‘wife’ instead of ‘madam’1. The title of ‘madam’ was more formal, while the title of ‘wife’ was more natural and approachable, which meant that the boss was in a good mood today.

When the boss was in a good mood, as his secretary, she would naturally feel less stressed at work.

Qin Moling locked the car and went to the elevator.

He had a dedicated elevator, so there was no need for him to wait.

From still far away, Secretary Gao saw the boss standing in front of the elevator without pressing the button. She understood that the boss had something to tell her.

She suddenly felt like there was wind under her feet, and she almost jogged all the way.

Qin Moling handed her an envelope, “Send this to Yinlin for Jian Hang.”

“Okay.” Secretary Gao took the envelope without asking any further questions.

Secretary Gao took the special elevator up with the boss.

Qin Moling suddenly thought of a person who was more suitable than the secretary to deliver the tickets: Qin Xing. There were some things that he could easily tell Qin Xing directly, but would not be convenient for him to say to his secretary.

His marriage to Jian Hang was a private matter, and he didn’t want outsiders to know too much about its ins and outs.

After walking out of the elevator, he asked Secretary Gao for the envelope back.

Secretary Gao thought the boss was going to deliver it to Jian Hang in person.

When he arrived at the office, Qin Moling was not in a hurry to turn on the computer. He called Qin Xing first and asked him if he was already up.

“What time is it now? You ask if I’m up, do you think I’m Lin Xiao.”

Qin Moling had heard of the name ‘Lin Xiao’, and he might have even seen him before, but he didn’t have much of an impression because Qin Xing had too many friends.

“Come to my office.”

“When?”

“Now.”

“What’s the matter?”

“I’ll tell you when you get here.”

Qin Xing didn’t like others who threw their weight around, but this person was Qin Moling—and he could tolerate his arrogance completely.

Driving that cool sports car, Qin Xing went straight to Lemeng.

As soon as Qin Moling put down his cell phone, Secretary Gao knocked on the door: Third Uncle Qin also came in with her.

Third Uncle Qin was still Lemeng’s nominal Chairman, so naturally he didn’t need any appointment to come and see Qin Moling.

Secretary Gao was also surprised when she saw Third Uncle Qin just now. She had had no time to report to Qin Moling and directly accompanied Third Uncle Qin here.

Qin Moling signaled Secretary Gao to go back to her work, and he personally poured water for his third uncle. The third uncle had just been discharged from the hospital, and it was not suitable for him to drink tea, so he only received a cup of water.

“Third aunt is not at home?”

He was either teasing Third Uncle or chatting normally.

Uncle Qin sighed and readily deprecated himself, “If she’s at home, do I dare to come here?”

He was discharged from the hospital yesterday. His wife has things to deal with and couldn’t follow him 24 hours a day. After being in the hospital for such a long time, he happened to come out for some air today and instinctively headed to Lemeng.

Since he’s had the operation, his wife has not allowed him to interfere with the company’s affairs at all. He could only hand over the entire company to Qin Moling, who had been unwilling to take over at first.

After some hard talk, Qin Moling had reluctantly agreed.

Chapter 11.2 — Another Exception

  1. Qin Moling said 老婆 ‘lao po’ instead of 太太 ‘taitai’—the latter I would translate to the more formal ‘Madam’. When you see c-novel characters calling out ‘wifey’ or be suddenly shy at being called ‘wife’—that’s ‘lao po’. It literally translates to ‘old lady’ and ‘husband/hubby’ is 老公 ‘lao gong’ or ‘old man’. It’s roughly the same for English too, right? ‘My old man’, ‘my old lady’ can be a very informal way of referring to someone’s spouse. And in Chinese, generally informal = intimate. ↩︎

One response to “[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 10.1 — See The Art Exhibition”

  1. Well, third uncle seems okay so far. When I saw the surprise of the secretary and such I wondered if there was going to be any business/family drama. Glad to see there isn’t.
