[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 38.3 — Day 13 (Copycat Dessert)

She followed Ji Chaozhou inside the villa, sniffed, and couldn’t help but praise, “Your perfume smells really good today.”

Ji Chaozhou paused in his steps. He only stayed in the laboratory for the day and used that one incense—the one that Tang Fang said was too astringent and bitter.

Did she think it smelled good?

Cheng Liu was talking while walking, and she accidentally bumped into his back.

Ohh, her nose…

Cheng Liu instinctively covered her nose, and tears instantly pooled in her eyes.

Ji Chaozhou was stunned when he was hit from behind, pursed his lips, and turned around to say, “Sorry.”

“It’s my fault.” Cheng Liu let go of her nose and waved her hand.

Despite her waving her hand, Ji Chaozhou frowned. “You…”

Cheng Liu met his gaze, raised her hand and found that her nose was bleeding. She covered her nose and said in a low voice, “Sorry.”

Ji Chaozhou turned around to get some tissue and handed it to her.

Cheng Liu wiped her nose casually, raised her eyes to Ji Chaozhou’s furrowed eyebrows, and comforted him, “It’ll be fine in a while.”

Ji Chaozhou looked at her careless and perfunctory movements, endured it for a while, and finally took out some more tissue and shooed Cheng Liu’s hands away. He used his hand to wipe away the blood stains on her cheek.

Cheng Liu stood there stiffly. Across her was Ji Chaozhou. His lips were pursed in a straight line, his face was cold, and his eyelashes were drooped over his eyes. However, the hand wiping her face was gentle, so gentle, with a faint fragrance.

In fact, Cheng Liu could still smell the astringent green and bitter taste on him, but she felt that underneath the bitter and astringent taste there was a familiar moist and warm aroma.

Young President Cheng was confused. At this moment, she felt that what he was wiping was not her face but her heart.

Ji Chaozhou helped Cheng Liu wipe away all the blood stains on her face. When he retracted his hand, he accidentally met her scorching gaze. He felt as if he was being burned. He quickly looked away, turned around and threw the tissue in his hand away.

People like Cheng Liu never knew how to restrain themselves; they only knew to push the envelope.

She carelessly stretched out her hand and pulled Ji Chaozhou to sit at the dining table, and then opened the two desserts. “Try it, I heard it’s delicious.”

They sold these as a pair, and the two of them would definitely become a couple after eating it.

Ji Chaozhou looked at the two desserts in front of him in silence. These two desserts could obviously be combined together to form a large red heart shape, and there seemed to be half a word written on each one.

Cheng Liu was stunned when she saw the dessert. Why was it different from the one bought by the employee’s fiancée earlier?

Did she buy the wrong thing?!

Ji Chaozhou glanced at the two desserts on the table coldly, and suddenly stretched out his hand to push one dessert towards the other.

They fit together perfectly to form a bright red heart shape, with the word ‘love’ written in the middle.

Ji Chaozhou raised his eyes to Cheng Liu sitting across him, waiting for her explanation.

“…” Cheng Liu’s eyes wandered, a rare survival alarm blaring in her mind. She opened her mouth and unscrupulously said, “It was given to me by an employee in the company for their wedding. It has nothing to do with me!”

Although, deep inside, Young President Cheng actually wanted to pat her chest and declare confidently: she was the one who bought it!

But what if she scared her future boyfriend away?

This reality forced her to lower herself.

“Do you want to try it?” Cheng Liu handed the spoon to Ji Chaozhou with some guilt.

Ji Chaozhou leaned away, looked down at the spoon in her hand, and suddenly asked her, “Do you think today’s perfume smells good?”

Cheng Liu had already taken a scoop from the dessert, and answered faster than her brain could cope with, “You smell really delicious.”

The living room suddenly fell into a great silence.

“… I mean, the dessert smells delicious.” Cheng Liu made amends afterwards and pushed the one in front of Ji Chaozhou nearer, “You try it.”

The two of them tacitly agreed to ignore the conversation just now.

Ji Chaozhou took a bite of the dessert and instantly frowned: it was too sweet.

He only tasted one bite and didn’t eat anymore.

Cheng Liu took a bite and immediately put down her spoon. Apparently she also found it ridiculously unpalatable. “What a terrible dessert. And there are so many people queuing up for it.”

She quietly asked the employee on WeChat where his fiance bought the dessert and why she didn’t buy the classic one. It wasn’t the same—it tasted worse.

The employee quickly sent a location and replied: [There is a copycat dessert shop. President Cheng, don’t go to the wrong place.]

Cheng Liu: “…”

She has already bought it and even paid a high price!

Ji Chaozhou suddenly reminded her, “You just said this was given by your employee.”

“I… meant that the employee and his fiancée lined up to buy it.” Cheng Liu quickly changed her story.

Ji Chaozhou continued to unravel her explanations with an expressionless face, “The employee is married and still has a fiancée?”

Cheng Liu: “…”

Maybe because he had reached out to wipe the blood from her just now, her brain has turned to mush.

“I bought it on the way home,” Cheng Liu confessed. “It seems I went to a copycat store and bought the wrong desserts.”

Ji Chaozhou pursed his lips, his long eyelashes trembled, and his eyes fell on the person sitting across from him. “Don’t buy it next time. “

When Cheng Liu heard that he was still willing to pay attention to her, she felt resurrected, completely injected with energy, and her eyes sparkled. “I’ll buy something more delicious next time.”

Ji Chaozhou turned his face away, not looking at her, “It’s up to you.”

He smelled the scent on his body.

It seemed to be a bit too bitter.
