[MarriageFirstLoveLater] Chapter 1.1 — Getting A Marriage Certificate

Outside the office door, the insults gradually faded away, and soon nothing could be heard.

The farce has finally ended.

There was a mess at the door just now, and a few security guards and Mrs. Gao almost got into a scuffle. It was noisier than a vegetable market.

The secretary knocked on the door and asked if she wanted anything.

“I’m fine.” Jian Hang faced the makeup mirror and carefully wiped off the water from her face to avoid smudging makeup.

Five minutes ago, Mrs. Gao broke into her office and threw the contents of a large glass of water on her. Jian Hang had been unprepared and had no time to hide. She was splashed with water, and the front of her blouse was now soaked. The outline of her bra was vaguely visible.

“Have you contacted the lawyer?”

“Yes,” the secretary responded. “The lawyer said that you can contact him anytime when you are not busy.”

Jian Hang looked at her watch and saw that there were still eleven minutes before the meeting. She told her secretary, “Go and prepare the meeting materials.”

The secretary wanted to say a few words of comfort but hesitated, “…Okay, will do.”

Still, she was worried about Jian Hang’s condition, “Would you like me to make you a cup of coffee?”

“No, you’re busy.” Jian Hang wiped her face and picked up the household registration book next to the computer. When Mrs. Gao threw water on her, her household registration book was not spared.

She had wiped it with a tissue earlier but the cover was still damp.

Jian Hang opened the household registration book—the inner pages were also stained with water. She changed to a dry tissue and wiped it page by page.

Today, this afternoon, was the time she agreed to get a marriage certificate with the blind date she had only met a handful of times.

Most young lovers chose to get their marriage certificates in the morning and queue up early. However, her blind date, the eldest son of the Qin family, said he had a meeting in the morning and couldn’t make time, so they arranged to get it in the afternoon.

Maybe she and Qin Moling wouldn’t get married after all. A few hours before receiving the marriage certificate, she was embarrassed, called out as the mistress by the original wife. The white blouse she bought specially for receiving the certificate today was soaked through, and her carefully arranged hairstyle was messed up.

The mobile phone on the corner of the table kept vibrating: it was Mr. Gao calling.

It seemed that he already knew that his wife broke into her office today and dealt with his ‘mistress’ in front of all her subordinates.

Jian Hang slid the answer button, clicked on the loudspeaker, and continued to wipe her household registration book.

“Ms. Jian, I deserve death.”

“Mr. Gao’s words are serious, but the crime committed will not lead to a death penalty.”

Gao Yu was silent for a long moment. The whole matter had come to this. Å few words of apology from him would not erase the harm his wife had caused to Jian Hang. When his wife made such a fuss, the entire Yinlin Capital heard about it and now everyone thought that Jian Hang had an improper relationship with him.

Such a big commotion happened. Everyone would have preconceived judgments in their heads, and no one would believe the explanation.

They would only think that the explanation was a cover up.

Jian Hang was the person in charge of Yinlin Capital’s Beijing branch. How could she maintain her authority in front of her subordinates after this?

Although rumors related to her have never stopped, they were all just rumors. Today, matters were completely confirmed and she would face immediate death in her circle.

What happened today was solely caused by him.

Last month, he told his wife he wanted to file for divorce. He and his wife had muddled along until their child was finally grown up and admitted to college last year. He had no other concerns, but he really couldn’t get along with his wife anymore, so he decided to divorce.

His wife refused to divorce him no matter what, and then this ridiculous thing happened today.

“I don’t know why my wife thinks that you and I… I will give you an explanation.” In truth, Gao Yu himself was also confused.

But his wife was furious at the moment and he couldn’t ask her anything.

Jian Hang said calmly, “Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Gao. If this matter spreads, it will affect not only my reputation, but also Yinlin’s image. It may also cause Yinlin’s stock price to fluctuate. You should also find a way to suppress matters over there.”

Gao Yu was very surprised by Jian Hang’s attitude. Before making the call, he was prepared for things to be difficult. He didn’t expect Jian Hang to be so easy to talk to. She was dissatisfied, sure—but her words were quite polite.

Gao Yu felt even more guilty. “In the future, whether it’s you or Yinlin, as long as I can help, you just need to let me know.”

“Mr. Gao is very kind,” Jian Hang ended the call.

Gao Yu was not a very handsome man, but his temperament, conversational style, and aura of calmness and self-confidence were not comparable to those of a young man. He was the head of the Asset Management Department of Yishuo Bank and had real power in his hands.

Yishuo Bank was one of the earliest private banks approved to operate and was very strong.

Because of this, Mrs. Gao felt that her husband was Jian Hang’s lover.

She and Gao Yu indeed knew each other because of their cooperation. Every time they met, they discussed business matters but had no personal relationship.

There were still five minutes before the project meeting started, and Jian Hang carefully put on her lipstick.

The blouse was still wet, and she couldn’t wear it directly to meet people. She stuffed a silk scarf down the front of the blouse, put on her coat, and buttoned all the buttons.

After fastening her belt, Jian Hang raised the collar of her coat to cover up the scarf.

In the conference room, everyone had already come in, one after another.

Seeing Jian Hang, everyone subconsciously held their breath.

Most people in the investment circle were familiar with the gossip related to Jian Hang. Some people even joked privately that they could only survive by working overtime day and night and relying on the love-hate relationship between Jian Hang and various married financial bosses.

Such an exciting scene happened today, and no one was in the mood to work.

  1. Does it even make sense that such a woman ended up in her office. In the boss office, did she have any appointment? Was there no security guard to stop her and can’t she suppress the gossip even a little bit to reduce the impact of this blow. Tbh that’s not how corporate offices work and was everyone out there to see the spectacle?

  2. Thank you for the chapter!

Boy, what a rough way to start a day at work. Water thrown over you and called a mistress for no good reason. Just because you’ve met during business meetings.
