[7YrSecretLove] Chapter 32.2 — Venting Anger On Her Behalf

The next day, the cucumbers on the balcony grew again.

This crop produced more than twenty cucumbers, and Luo Qi couldn’t possibly finish them all by herself. She picked ten cucumbers and gave them to her colleagues in the secretary’s office.

Xiao Jiang was always the most active one. After getting the cucumbers, he immediately washed a few cucumbers and everyone had a share.

“Sister Luo, are you really growing cucumbers on your balcony?”

“How big is the balcony?” another colleague chimed in while eating cucumber.

“It’s not big, just a few meters. It’s grown without soil.” She clicked on her phone’s photo album, which contained a short video she had taken, “Let me show it to you.”

That was how, early in the morning, several people could be found in the secretary’s office munching on cucumbers, watching a short video of cucumbers growing, all laughing merrily.

“What are you all so happy to talk about?”

“… Chief Jiang.”

“Chief Jiang, good morning.”

Everyone put down the cucumbers they had been eating; they didn’t expect the boss to come so early.

Luo Qi glanced at her watch: it was only 7:50am.

The company starts work at 9 o’clock. Because they get off work early every day, those in the secretary’s office habitually come early the next day.

Jiang Shenghe stopped and looked at the cucumbers on the table, “Breakfast?”

“No,” Xiao Jiang was generous. There were four cucumbers left in the plastic bag and he handed them all to the boss, “Chief Jiang, this is your share. Assistant Luo, grew these cucumbers on her balcony.”

In order to let the boss see the novel pastoral scenery on the small balcony of Luo Qi’s home, Xiao Jiang also showed the video on Luo Qi’s phone to the boss, “We didn’t believe it at first. How can cucumbers be grown on a small balcony? Take a look.”

Jiang Shenghe didn’t take the phone but borrowed Xiao Jiang’s hand to watch the video for a few dozens of seconds, “Not bad.”

He picked up the cucumbers and said to Luo Qi, “Then I won’t be polite.”

When the boss went to his office, they immediately dispersed and went about their own business.

Except that Luo Qi hadn’t intended  to give the boss any cucumbers at all: those four remaining in the bag were for Chu Lin. They had agreed to meet up at Chu Lin’s tavern tonight.

At nine o’clock, she went downstairs to find Li Rui and conveyed the boss’s intention regarding the management team of Ruipu Medical: Li Rui shouldn’t make any drastic adjustments and try her best to retain it intact.

Li Rui became thoughtful; Ruipu Medical was just one of very many holding companies under the Yuanwei Group, and Jiang Shenghe, the big boss of the group, never used to care about such trivial matters.

This time not only did he intervene, but he also specially asked Luo Qi to inform her.

All acquired companies, without exception, will face major financial and management changes.

The boss asked her to keep the original management team—it meant that the matter of who would be put in charge of Ruipu Medical was being put on hold by headquarters. She didn’t know who the boss planned to head it. In any event, it was best for her not to interfere in this matter.

Li Rui smiled and said, “Thank you for your hard work; you had to make a special trip. Tell Chief Jiang that I know how to handle it.”

Luo Qi stayed at Li Rui’s place for less than five minutes before going back to report to the boss.

When she arrived on the 42nd floor, Xiao Jiang told her that there was a guest in Chief Jiang’s office.

… …

In fact, he was not a formal guest. The person who came was Qin Moling. He received a call from Jiang Shenghe last night, asking him to come over some time day.

“What’s the matter that we have to meet in person to talk about it?” Qin Moling crossed his legs and leaned on the sofa. He instinctively tapped his phone to show the screensaver: it was his wedding photo.

Out of kindness, Jiang Sheng made a cup of coffee for Qin Moling and brought it to the coffee table in person.

Qin Moling was flattered, “You’re being so attentive to me for nothing.” He put his phone on the armrest, “Tell me, what’s the matter?”

Jiang Shenghe asked him when he would go to Teacher Chen’s house for dinner. Teacher Chen was their primary school homeroom teacher and Qin Moling’s mother-in-law.

“What?”

“I want to take Luo Qi when you go there.”

Qin Moling was confused.

“I’m not asking you to help me for free. I’ll tell you a secret in exchange.”

Qin Moling lifted his chin. “Not interested.”

He has known Jiang Shenghe since they both couldn’t speak yet—what other secrets would he not know about him? The elders of the two families incessantly brought up all the embarrassing incidents that happened when they were children. There was really no secret between them at all.

If so, then it might be a commercial venture.

If it was a money-making project, Jiang Shenghe wouldn’t do it alone anyway, so it didn’t matter whether he knew about it now or later.

Jiang Shenghe said in a crisp voice, “Emotionally.”

Qin Moling immediately changed his tune, “If you want to go to dinner and have drinks, let’s go.” He moved his chin slightly, indicating that he could say this secret of his.

“I have liked Luo Qi for seven years.”

“How many years?!” Qin Moling suddenly sat upright, thinking that he had misunderstood.

“More than seven years.”

“When you were still at Yuanwei Capital?”

“Yeah.”

“So Yuanwei Medical?”

“It has something to do with her.”

Qin Moling couldn’t believe it, “Aren’t you just speaking nonsense?”

Jiang Shenghe glanced at him, stood up and sat at his desk, “I’ve already told you my secret, as promised. Go ahead, why don’t you seize such a good opportunity to write a short essay and laugh at me?”

“Don’t be ridiculous, do you think I am you?”

To be perfectly fair, in the past, Qin Moling would have really done this; but now that he was married, he had no interest in such boring and childish things.

Jian Hang would never want her husband to be so immature and unreliable.

Jiang Shenghe asked, “When will you and Jian Hang get married?”

Qin Moling answered quickly, “The wedding is scheduled for September, the day before Teachers’ Day.”

The certificate was already obtained, the wedding photos taken, and they lived in the same house, using the same bedroom, but he and Jian Hang were not yet very familiar with each other.

The coffee Jiang Shenghe made for him should not be wasted, so he drank it all and left.

  1. Even after knowing and working with each other for so long, Luo Qi still wasn’t willing to save a single cucumber for Jiang Shenghe? That’s pretty sad, especially since she somewhat likes him. I’m guessing she just doesn’t want to cross the line of boss-subordinate even a little because then she won’t be able to control her feelings for him, but even then, it’s just a cucumber…

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀

    1. I tthink regarding cucumber it’s not about avoiding JSH..but it’s because she simply thought about Chu Li more. To her Chu Li and others are her friends, but JSH isn’t. Logically speaking, if he wants to present a gift for her boss, it should be something suitable to his status..not cucumber 😅. That’s why she didn’t think of sharing with him. Now she feels unsettled because he took all of Chu Li’s share. Now Chu Li has none of it 😝. She feels bad then.
